Thanks tons, forgot the search function was there, and thread history only goes back a few pages, was not sure if after a few pages they get auto deleted or somesuch.

Nope, threads don't get deleted.
You can either adjust it for each forum at the time you are viewing it using the drop down box in the lower left of the forum screen. Or you can set a default period in your UserCP -> Settings & Options -> Edit Options -> Thread Display Options -> Thread Default Age Cut Off.
