Ok... this is probably a stupid question. But I need to figure out how excatly the Vana'diel time works. I know that one Earth hour is one Vana day. And there are 8 days in Vana week. I heard from a good source that there are 12 weeks in a vana month. But this would mean that it would be changing months every 3 days, and it doesn't it changes every day >.< Can someone please point me in the right dirction or explain the system to me? Thanks!

Clock

I have the clock... but it'd not helping me figure it out >.<

As far as I know, the months work like real months; roughly four weeks in them. And 12 months per in-game year, like a real year. I figured this because of the millenium countdown, the last day of the last month of the year was 12/30/999. Thats all I really know. That, and between every game-minute, its 3 seconds.

Every 56 minutes is one Vana day.

Not all of us can use our dad's credit card and buy things off the net.

Thought one Vana'diel month (or at least Moon Phase) was forty days?

I thought a vanadiel day was 48 minutes, 24 game hours at 2 minutes per game hour, that's what I'd been hearing for years. Was this changed at some point or have I been hearing wrong all these years?

Someone sit there for a few hours with a stopwatch and give us full info!

Every 57 minutes and 36 seconds is one Vana'Diel day. The Vana'Diel week cycles as follows:
Darksday > Firesday > Earthsday > Watersday > Windsday > Iceday > Lightningday > Lightsday
Darksday and Lightsday are considered Weekend, and the rest are the Weekdays.
There are 30 days in each Vana'Diel month, and there are 12 months. This is all information gathered from the official FFXI web site, so I hope this helps. ^^

Thanks for the info! If you have a link that would be great as well. One question though... Since there are 8 days in a week, and 30 days in a month, how do they get split?

Same as the Earth week. If the month ends on Firesday, the next month starts on Earthsday. ^^
Gah.. forgot to mention the links. They aren't actually in any of the information on the site, but rather hidden throughout the update logs. I'd have to sift through them, but I know I found out the Vana'Diel day time and the days-per-month via two different Ballista information charts (oddly enough). As for the game week, I had an entire day off and needless to say.. I was bored (also made a down-to-the-Vana'Diel-minute airship time chart, that has yet to be too far incorrect [maybe one minute off], that day). If you still want links, I'm sure I can find 'em easily, since I've looked at the updates several times before.

I'm suprised nobody has mentioned the free clocks available on the Internet.

MithraPride.org, follow the link at at the top of the page and do a little math to see how long a day is.

I've done my testing, and the clocks on the websites are off several minutes for long periods of time and therefore aren't as accurate as most people would like (at least, as accurate as I'd like). None-the-less, the online FFXI clocks are quite useful for checking on certain times and dates and such. I suggest using them, to most people, I'll admit that. ^^ I believe there are two different ones available. One from Mithra Pride and one from Pyogenes. Always useful, but don't put too much trust in them (their airship time are slightly off, for example). Anyway.. >.>
