Oh btw, something i forgot to mention, in terms of where specifically that attitude will get you. And decidence, please excuse this, this was in the past and as i said, ive heard your attitude has improved very much since then ^^.

But Decidence had the best gear a rng could buy, check the seller list, i think hes still on the buy list for peacock charm etc, eurytos bow, all the good stuff. And you know what the most common comment about him was in pts looking for a ranger? Decidence? hes not a ranger, hes an asshat in a ranger suit. Attitude = reputation, get over yourself kid.

Vang, Armii called you a hypocrit because you call out some one "in-game" than come here and complain about people talking tough in a virtual world. The whole point is you are a jerk for calling out random stragers. If they are in your party, fine. If not, leave it alone.



Now on to the other arguement. I have to side with Tryon on this one. I crunched some numbers and compared a 48rng/18nin with a fully leveled 48rng/24nin. The difference (amoung other things) is 2Dex and 2AGI. Doesn't sound like much or doesn't matter? Tell that to the person who spends 300K on LL boots.

Is that what you tell yourself when you see the whm with 2 astrals? The thief with winged boots and a pin? Gear doesnt matter? Thats right, thats why I see so many high levels with rusty caps on instead of an optical hat, because, getting an optical hat is fairly tedious, and surely after 70 levels they know how to do their jobs? What the hell would an optical hat do for them, I mean, gear doesnt make the player right?

Hey! no need to bash Canadians! Anyways, I'll have to agree, tip top gear does not automatically grant you instant experience though. It does help insanely though. Ie: I could be wearing a royal footmans bandana for the +1 Agi or a Noct Beret for +2 Agi, or a Empy Hairpin (bane of my existence) for +3 Agi (+3 Dex, I believe).

Vang, I think there are definitely people who agree they prefer playing with people who are fully equipped. Heck, I bought my friend an astral ring so she could get on with levelling. But I know people who couldn't make gil for the life of them and its somethng they might never be able to grasp... :( I try to be the best at my job...but if you look at some of my posts..I get shafted a lot too...I've just come to expect it now.. *sigh*

I think the anger was just from the criticism you gave to a person you probably wouldn't ever have any interaction with anyways. I think everyone wouldn't be opposing a perfectly levelled sub with perfect gear. "Oh no...you're too perfect of a ranger...empy pin and leaping boots? hmm....drone earrings? I'm sorry, you're just too good" Like I've said.. I think my expectations have lowered considerably ever since I lost my static.
 
Some people take this game far too seriously. Yes, it is a lot of fun and can at time be quite addicting....but people, please....lighten up!

Yes, great gear helps, yes fully lvld subjob helps, but this game isn't all about being "l33t". I know that personally, I can't always get the best gear, but I farm and whatnot to try to buy the best I can afford. I know a lot of people are like me. They don't spend days at a time on the game, hunting NM's, farming, crafting, etc. For me, a lot of the fun in this game is simply getting together with other people and playing >> talking, lvling, questing, whatever! The people that I play this game with make it more enjoyable for me than most others things. Even if a party is getting bad exp, or whatever, if the people are nice and friendly, I don't mind nearly as much as if the people are bitching and whining... but still not doing anything.

For instance, my friend Jonason(Direwolf's bro..RL friend) is a rank 9, lvl 64 thf/nin. Like Direwolf said, he is probably one of the best players at doing what he does. He has the best gear and everything for most of his jobs....except ranger. Partying in Qufim, when I first took my blm there...he showed up with a great bow(Power +1 I think), Leaping Boots, two good knives(rng/nin)......and nothing else. Oh...except a yukata =P. I looked at him and /tell him with a "wtf?" but he just shrugged it off. That was the BEST party I've every been in. We went through Qufim in a single day...20-25. We were getting over 5k exp/hr with chain #5's. Besides that experience, some of the best players I have met have had underlvld subs. Granted, they were alredy experienced players, but their experience overcame their "gimp". Yes their are players out there who suck nuts and have underlvld subs, but the same can be said for players with great gear and fully lvld subs. To use the old saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover."

Now, your probably going to come back and say how I "must not play my job right" or "it's not your problem that I don't car about the game and treat it like a joke" but you'd be fucking mistaken. I do care, but I realize that not everyone is going to play this game like it's a fucking lifestyle...so chill out, lighten up, and pull the arrow out of your ass.

(Haha...arrow=ranger? get it? I'm so clever.... :roll: )
 
Well, speaking from strictly my POV:

  1. My greatest fun comes from kicking mob ass and getting tons of EXP efficiently.
  2. Most of my game-friends are much higher level than I. I want to join them on quests and such.
  3. STFU n00b!!!!
  4. #3 was a joke. :p
 
Of course.^^ Getting tons of exp always rocks, just...ya gotta realize it isn't always gonna happen. Take everything in perspective. And I do dream of the day I can kick some major ass at high lvl...aka Scythe on my blm :lol: and pimp hat on my rdm...but alas...I must wait.(mostly due to shitty school network and not being able to party well, other wise I'd probably be much higher right now =P)
 
The thing is, when I don't get good xp or LOSE xp, waste food, or otherwise go off on somebody, it is because of circumstances that almost always preventable. WHM being stupid and getting the tank killed? Preventable. 15 minute AFK right after I use food? Preventable. Bad puller who links fifteen lizards to camp? Preventable. Dipshits who don't want to skillchain? Preventable. Poorly equiped characters? Preventable.

These things will unlock my temper, to which I usually get a "Relax, it's just a game."

This has a similar effect to dumping gasoline on a campfire.

I want to see all this game has to offer, not just sit in valkurm and Qufim forever. I only get two nights a week to level, I don't want to waste my time. ;_;
 
Ok, I just read all these posts and I have decided that Vang....is a Giant Dick....Thats it, everyone just black list him, nothing more needs to be said, really.....just blacklist, go..... do it not, for christ sakes he has 2 flames going on, you think thats good enough to get rid of him

Your attitude is obviously getting you nowhere. I, too, love to maximize my EXP sessions. I also love to have great gear, and a leveled subjob. I in no way, however, feel that it's necessary to call other people out (especially strangers) for a subjob that's underleveled. And here's my take on RNG gear... which I really don't understand, and will probably get massively flamed for this, but I just don't give a fuck.

-Emperor's Hairpin. +3 AGI, and +10 EVA is nice too. (+3 DEX, but... honestly, how much will that matter with the -ACC on your Racc rings, that is if you're not using Sniper Rings, or you don't have gear-swap macros to bring in your +RACC rings for your DEX/STR rings everytime you shoot, but I bet no rangers do this as it isn't as rewarding as the gear-swap macro would be to a job like SAM or WAR or NIN or whatnot)

-Leaping Boots. +3 AGI, and another +3 DEX that just doesn't matter all that much in what a RNG's job is. You might hit once more per fight with your daggers in close combat with the +6 dex. Congrats!

Together, I believe the cost for those items are something around 600-700k RIGHT NOW on the AH.

Now, look at the alternatives.

Noct Beret +1. +2 AGI. Probably costs around 50k, hell, maybe even far less. I've never looked at the price of one of these things. You lose 10 Evasion, which I think is a much much bigger blow than 1 point of AGI.

Bastokan/Republic Greaves: +1 AGI, In areas in your nation's control, +3/4 ACC, +3/4 RACC... I think the Republics go for around 50k or so. Probably more. I'll take POSSIBILITY of +4 RACC over the 2 AGI and meaningless +3 DEX for a RNG anyday.

So, you're paying 600k or so for 3 AGI, 10 Evasion, and 6 DEX (which is basically meaningless for a RNG.) The Evasion is nice when your shadows go down... but... if you're pulling THAT much hate, the RNG should learn about aggro control or it's time to get a new tank. 3 points of AGI are NOT going to make or break a RNG. You know what does?

The best possible Bow/Gun/Xbow and the best Ammo you can find for your current level. The 600k you save on 3 AGI and 10 Evasion can put to use elsewhere. Hell, if you people DO think +2 AGI and +2 Dex lost from leveling your NIN sub for RNG matters THAT much, then I better see you same people using the Emperor's Hairpin and Leaping Boots and would expect you NOT to criticize others if they don't meet up to your standards.

Hell, the job that benefits most from the Leaping Boots is THF. That's hands-down, and you can EASILY see the difference between a THF who is using them and a THF who isn't (in SATA damage). The difference between the boots on a RNG and a RNG who isn't wearing them is so negligable it's laughable. The Hairpin is excellent for Thieves, but you don't see as many results for the Pin for the Ranger... although I really truly believe the +10 evasion is the absolute best thing about this piece of gear for any job other than THF.

There you go, the idiot BLM spoutin' off on a job he's only taken to 21, for those of you who like to say that "if you don't play a job to X level, you don't know jack about said job". Well, I have a fucking brain, and I know how to figure shit out. Common sense tells me that 3 AGI and 6 DEX isn't giong to make or break a RNG. Even less the +2 AGI and +2 DEX the Original Poster loses out on having an underleveled subjob. Job traits and abilities are the #1 reason to have a sub. The stats are just a nice convenience.

Please Rune, don't misunderstand my previous comments. I was mainly addressing the comment made in another post regarding the stat differences of a leveled sub vrs. non-leveled sub, I didnt really mean for it to sound like I was attacking anyone. I know as a mage that I focus on +Int gear and grab every last piece of Int that I can. Rng's I believe focus on +AGI. I here people whine all the time about how they are broke, but they need to save for leaping boots. Well here are 2 AGI right there that are virtually free. Again I didn't mean for it to sound like a flame, I merely wanted to point out that fact for the sake of discussion.
 
Ut uh, not another one of these threads.

I've talked to Vang a few times... My sis-in-law Mistasia grouped with him quite a bit I believe, and I met him on another char at my favorite NM camp. Vang runs his mouth off quite a bit :P However, no matter how much time he has (Hell, I haven't seen him on very much at all lately), he doesn't use the "I have an RL" excuse, because, if you have time to level, you have time to make some gil. Vang holds to this, and even though he's suffered disappointment after disappointment at the NM camp I was speaking of earlier, he always comes back with a good attitude, a new plan, and the knowledge that if he's persistant enough, he'll get it. He's vowed not to level until he gets his best gear.

Now if you had that attitude, and then saw shoddy players (gonna get flamed by the shoddy players for calling them shoddy I'm sure) all around you that have underleveled subs, crap gear, and obviously put no time into their chars outside of xp, wouldn't you be a little frustrated too? If everyone had the same philosophy as Vang, and myself, xp pt's potential xp/h would sky rocket.

- I don't send random tells to other players that don't care about being the best they can be, I just mock them a lot in my LS ;)

Now, onto myself... I have 11mil worth of blm gear at level 55. People often /check me then TELL me that I "buy gil online".... I really wish FF had a /finger emote. Now, if you're telling me 15% additional damage on every nuke, magic attk bonus +10, +32 int, -3 enmity doesn't make any difference, and all that matters is the players skill... you can go play a single player FF where your cheap attitude doesn't affect anyone but yourself.

I remember one pt invited me as a replacement to their taru blm, and when I got there they started saying how taru's were better than humes, their taru blm that just left was hitting his freeze mb's for 1200... I almost disbanded immediately, but decided these guys needed a change of heart... So I started landing freeze mb's for 1300, and at the end of the pt one of the people in it sent me a tell saying I was the best blm he'd ever seen.

Now, my gear alone wasn't what made him say that... it was my gear, mixed with my skill. And I frankly don't understand how anyone can have garbage gear, and say that their skill makes up for it. If you were that good at your job, you would know that you don't want to 'make up' for anything, you want to go above and beyond expectations.

Head - Republic Circlet, or gold hairpin when San d'Oria isn't in control of where I'm xping.
Neck - Black silk neckerchief (Hate this thing, but there's STILL nothing better)
Earrings - Moldavite earring and Morion earing +1
Body - Seer's tunic while healing, and umm.. Tactician Magician's Coat +1 (haven't seen any +2's for sale) while fighting
Hand's - Seer's mitt's +1
Rings - Genius rings
Back - (here's the killer) Amity cape
Waist - Ocean Stone
Pants and feet - Hume RSE
 
Nice EQ! I'm really jealous of that ocean stone. I question the Amnity cape. If it were me I'd sell it back, get a red cape +1 and use the difference to throw the largest boozer that port bastok has EVER seen!!! :lol:
 
lol ya, it was a tough call... I was actually using a red cape +1 before, but I'm loving the -enmity... it's not worth how much it cost though. :(

You dont have to like me in Jeuno, but i guarantee you will out in the leveling grounds. I dont need to prove to anyone how I play but im sure if everyone I partied with came in this thread you would hear very different storys of how "mean" or "unskilled" i am (boo hoo)

Face it you little fucks, your just mad because I can back my talk up, I take pride in my character and am far from a leveling whore....which goes hand in hand with gimps. I am sitting 1 tnl right now from 56, and I wont be getting that 1 xp point until I have my Ebow....I have sat at 55 forevor, is it frustrating? Yes. I would like to strut around in my full AF, just like everyone else. Do you know how many gimp scrubs were 10-15 levels below me a while back when I hit 55 and now they are in their AF just "barely" scraping by?

You ONLY hurt your party, thats why I do this, I am VERY team orientated and am 99% of the time the last guy to leave the party. I expect the very best from everyone in this game, in party or not. Its SHEER laziness, and as Tiyas KI thread implies, you can have a pair of Leeping Boots or Emp Hairpin in a day, you just choose not to.

That to me is pathetic.

So keep on half ass trucking to 75 people barely scraping by, im sure no one will remember you ^^

Dude! I have some pretty good gear as well. I have a more than fully leveled sub and I play my job well. I craft for HOURS on end to be able to afford it. That being said:

When I help people with Genkai 1, I'm a WHM54/SMN06. I'm assuming I'd get bitched out for this by you?
