VANG (55RNG/27NIN) omfg

In an interview with one of the makers of FFXI said that AGI does the following: Raise R. Acc., the amount of damage you take from Criticals, and how many times you get hit by Criticals, and evasion...However, if you want to Raise your R. Acc., then equip stuff that raises that initial stat, not AGI.

Now from what it does, only one thing a RNG should worry about, is..well, R. Acc., therefore, it is wiser to raise R. Acc. stat, more than AGI...

Do your homework Vang, you might just get an A-

I don't presume to know about rng stats, so I'm not saying you're right or wrong on that Oni... but, a link to the interview would be really nice. Shows us that it's actual fact.

I read an interview the other day from SE that said that anyone who posts on a messageboard with the name Oni has no idea what they're talking about.

But I don't want to link it.

Happy?

No. Your post is very different from what that says... I don't see:

However, if you want to Raise your R. Acc., then equip stuff that raises that initial stat, not AGI.

anywhere in there.

Isn't that common sense though? If you wanted to mainly raise your R. Acc., you would wear equipment to raise R. Acc.

If anything, I didn't go to the site for the interview, my connection here is too slow, I can play it at my mothers, but I usually play FFXI there...All I was really doing was repeating what the poster had written and the link of the interview.

In a January Interview, SqaureEnix was question on several points...

We have been told STR makes you do more damage, DEX makes you hit more often, AGI makes you get hit less often, and VIT makes you take less damage when you are hit. What players want to know is:

What is the relationship between VIT and "defense"? For example, does one point of VIT equal one point of "defense"? Some other relationship?

1xDef= 2xVIT

However, VIT and "defense" have their own seperate effects.

Def:

Defense lowers the standard damage variance and reduces average damage taken.

VIT:

Vitality lowers the actual damage curve itself and reduces the maximum amount of damage taken.

Taking into account the above values and figuring them against an opponent's STR, Attack, and Weapons DMG value, we finally arrive at the amount of damage taken.

Same question for STR and "attack":

1xAtk= 2xSTR

However, STR and "Attack" have their own seperate effects.

Attack:

Attack raises the standard damage variance and increases average damage given.

STR:

Strength raises the actual damage curve itself and increases the maximum amount of damage given.

Taking this into account along with the enemies VIT, Defense, and the DMG rating on your own wepaon we arrive at the amount of damage inflicted.

What about the relationship between DEX and Acuracy and AGI and evasion?

Accuracy does rely on DEX but it is more useful to raise accuracy directly than raise it by DEX. DEX does, however, help determine your own critical hit rate. Evasion does rely on AGI as well. But it is more useful to raise Evasion directly than to raise it by AGI. AGi does, however, help determine the amount of critical hits you take. The higher the DEX the more crits you score. The higher the AGI the less crits you take.

This information was taken from an interview with square enix at http://ffxi.crgaming.com/interviews/viewinterview.asp?Id=209 Enjoy
That was the original Post...

Actually thats been a bone of contention of the RNG boards for quite sometime. SE never directly made that statement, but did say AGI does increase RNG ACC. People then took the comments SE made about DEX and applied them to AGI as well.

Let me rephrase that, if you would rather raise R. Acc., then equip R. Acc. items than AGI + stuff...
RNG's don't need evasion much, nor do they need anything for criticals...they DO need R. Acc. though, and so raising R. Acc. is a lot better for a RNG than to use AGI+ items...

As much as I hate to use lame insults...

How do you know that Oni? How do you know one Agi isn't equal to 10 ranged accuracy? (Yes, this is just a tad exaggerated, I know)

I don't see that anywhere in the interview. Just because agi does more things than just ranged accuracy, doesn't mean it doesn't give a good amount of ranged accuracy.

To elaborate on my previous post, people have been discussing the relationship between AGI and RNG ACC for the longest time of the Ranger boards. For clarification based on the continuous discussion their:

2 AGI does not equate to 1 RNG ACC.

To directly increase RNG ACC, bonuses to RNG ACC > AGI.

However this is where it gets a little distorted. It seems that at higher levels RNG ACC gains diminishing returns if no efforts are made to improve AGI. Essentially this means that if you miss 1 shot out of every 10, then only improving RNG ACC will still cause you to miss 1 shot out of every 10 (rough example). Only by improving both AGI and RNG ACC do you see a noticable difference.

It is felt that RNG ACC can reach a ceiling, and thus improvements do not produce noticable gains. AGI increases this ceiling making RNG ACC improvements more noticable. In short, AGI improves the "maximum RNG ACC" ceiling so that the direct RNG ACC bonuses will trigger.

I am not saying that AGI doesn't give a good amount, I am saying that if a RNG with more R. Acc. than AGI, would have more R. Acc. than a RNG with all AGI, however, Glacius is right on that one, that having all R. Acc. isn't as good as someone with half AGI and R. Acc.

That is not what I am getting at though, I am only supporting what Runekane was discussing. That R. Acc. > AGI.

Nice job on your homwork Oni, you really DRIIIIIVE the point home of, absolutely nothing...Now leave this thread before you give hurt yourself trying to think of even more "clever" failed attempts at making me look bad...idiot.

Just ask Glacius, he has great gear, and knows his shit. Who would you pick in the challenge? Between gear sets that I had listed?

Im not saying Racc isnt a big deal, it is....its my job to hit first, worry about hitting hard second. So please stop acting like I said anything of the sort.

What I did say however, is you need BALANCE between agility and Racc...once again know it alls, ask experienced Rangers before you run your mouths. This is really getting too easy.

I think someone forgot to do their english homework.

So I assume you admit defeat, good, Im glad we have came to that agreement. Talking about a few misspelled words is what it has come down to eh?

Please move along little guy, im done with you.

RACC does not > Agi....... AGI does not > RACC

A Balance > both of them

I now > you and Runekane.

So go back to the drawing board scrub, sessions closed.

Terrible grammar, capitals where they shouldn't be, and no period at the end of a sentence. I'm resorting to calling you out on your english skills because all my previous posts contradicted themselves, and it's the only way I can think of to make myself look good.

When did I ever admit defeat? Did I ever say that? No.

Ok, Mr.
You need to lay of the Labatt Blues Canuck fuck.
So it has come down to nationality huh?

Congratulations Tiya, you are now an official QCDNer.

Notice the perfect grammar and spelling.
