I don't acctually concider myself american, I have no real ties to America, other than I was born here, or well Texas more specifically, or so it says on my birth certificate. But being tied here on paper, and being here emotionally is diffrent no?
Korea is my home, I was raised there, I went to school there, I did many of my firsts there, including how to drive. Honestly if I had a choice I would have never left, but I did not want my children to be growing up like me, and have no real sense of "home" I consider Korea my home, but even there I don't find acceptance, because I am 6'2 and everyone else there in the crowds is 5 foot at best.
And there just aren't many white guys in korea, outside of buisness men, who are looked apoun as scam artists almost. So I find a sense of false acceptance I geuss because I know the language and the customes and am familiare with the people, yet they don't really truely accept me because I am odd.
I have the same problem here in america, my english is poor, and I don't understand well, so I fund I have to rely apoun, strangers and my family. I live in san diego for reasons of my job, but it is by luck it has a large asian community a majority of which is Korean (but thats beside the point). So because my english is poor and I have a bit of an accent, even after 6 years here, people look at me as an uneducated freak. I'm white 35 have poor english skills. WHy because I'm not american at heart! only on paper!
Also being of a nationalitysimly by blood is one thing, haveing grown up there and haveing actuall relavant ties to the society and country at large is a bit diffrent is it not ?
