... please dont make America seem so great...

where u consider home is more emotion than what government papers say.

besides, how do you know yoshindor has a choice whether to be in America or not? Companies often transfer employees all over the world.

What are you saying now that he's a prisoner? Whaddaya mean he has no choice? Maybe in a communist country this might be true, but we talking about America. Doesn't really matter where you "consider" home if you pay taxes and support something now does it?

If your gonna have a mouth, put your money where you mouth is.

Read the sentence after his question, and then apologize for your lack of reading comprehension.

How is it he cannot say no? Is the company holding a gun to his head? Maybe you don't understand the meaning of the word choice.

Choice: "action based on one's volition, will, desire."

All said and done with America it boils down to this... You do not like us and how we live our lives... Get the hell out, there are millions upon millions o people just begging for the chance to immigrate here, why do we need or want you here? Go to one of the many countries where your life expectancy is less then half of ours, or where your "freedoms" entitle you to join the military at 11-12 years of age. How many people threatened to move to Canadia after the 2004 election... Where are they all now? That is what I thought. People will bitch and moan about this country, well guess what, you do not like it leave. There is no one here who will force you to live in this country, go to North Korea or something and seek political refugee status, you will be a national hero there, you will also have one of the lowest standards of living known to the civilized world but hey beggars can't be chosers.

@Whomever was argueing about "what they are" -

Uhm, just to note...there's a difference between nationality and heritage.
i.e.
Nationality (I THINK that's the word. Maybe Origin?)-Where you live (i.e. in the U.S.), you're an American
Heritage - Your ancestors were Korean, thus, you are Korean
Korean and American.

Could also be something such as..
You live in Korea, but are of German heritage. You're a German by heritage, Korean by where you live. So you're German and Korean by this example.

Don't mix up the two please~

alright, i'm not going to go and outright accuse you for lacking knowledge on how being an expat works, but I'll just tell you from my own experience.

I go to a school where 50% of the kids were in the school because their parents were transferred from America to the area I live. Sure they have a choice to NOT come, but when you're in that position, are you REALLY going to give up a high pay job and leave a company and risk unemployment?

I'm sorry to say this, but responsibilities such as keeping food on the table, taking care of a family, and bring home a pay check are pretty important things. Sure they arent "holding a gun to their heads", but they are basically in a lose-lose situation. They lose if they are transferred if they dont want to go, and the lose if they quit their job because they risk not having the same high ranked job again.

Ok this thread is getting tiresome. Seems like nobody seems to know what the word "choice" means. You guys are either too wet-behind-the-ears that you've never had to ever make a life changing choice yet, or you are living in a blind mans world.

Ok Xerius you are right here explaining the very meaning of choice. Just because you think you have 2 shitty choices does not mean that it's not a choice anymore, you STILL have a choice. And you will find, not all choices in your life are like choosing between flavors of ice cream. Alot of choices you simply have to choose which is the less shitty choice for you, THIS IS LIFE.

Just because you don't like the choices doesn't mean you don't have a choice anymore. This is a cop-out pure and simple. An actually it doesn't have to be a shitty choice if you don't want it too be. It depends on how you want to see things. If you want to see only the shit in your life then that is what you will see.

Again Xerius you are only in a lose-lose situation because you fail to see the win. They sounds like somebody "going booo hooo, poor me".

My suggestion, don't skip College and keep gettign smarter so you can stop saying booo hooo poor me. Create choices for yourself, create vision for yourself so you can see the choices that you have.

Do be one of those sorry mutha fuckas that goes around telling everybody he's a "victim" of life.

BTW: We are talking about Yoshindor not you. Yoshindor is a grown man with a family, he chooses to stay in America, nobody is making him stay here.

Yes I am a grown man, and if I wanted to I could go back to Korea, I have many friends and people I consider family there, and could resume my job as a social worker until I found proper work. However, I stay because it would not be fair to ask my whole family to up rute itself, because I feel home sick, and am desperate for home. My children are far too americanized, the transition would be horrable on them. They unlike me, except for my oldest, don't speak a word of korean. It would be horrable for my wife, though I know she would stand by me and not say a thing. So I have a choice and yet I do not, it is better for my family here, even if I'm unhappy and find little exceptance. there is no right descision for me, only the one that is right for my family.

I hope you can understand this.

Can always just visit for a week or so? ^^ (though I'd assume that'd cost alot)

I just checked with a travel agency, assuming I can get time off, it would cost close to 1,200 dollors for the ticket alone, thats not including the rental car I would need, and vrious other things. Also I'm takeing english school, I can't be missing classes.

I do understand you Yoshi. But as you said before, you don't understand yourself. You are an American you came here to give your children an American life. You like your parents believe this is BETTER for them thats why you came back here. You have first-hand expierence at living in Korea yet you did not go back there like your parents as soon as you had children.

Sure you may be homesick, but if you truely thought it was better at home, you'd go there no matter what your children said.

Your choices in life determine WHO YOU ARE not your desire. Just because I wanna be a porn star and I dream about it doesn't mean that I am one now does it?

Ahhhh South korea...

Ive stayed there for abou 4yrs learned the language and began to love the culture.

Although i only stayed for work related purposes, I sometimes want to go back.

Korea is like the Asian Version of NYC. At least where i stayed which is seuol.

I have friends and family all over the whole of South Korea, I lived in Seoul, Pusan, Taegu, for a short time I even lived in the small village of Chindo on the island of chindo pronounced Chin-do over the summer, as a summer job to help pay for college education, tough job too <_> fishing for a liveing sucks!

So going back to visit would take lots of time <_<

OMG OMG OMG i am gone from the US for a 5 year period.....i must hate it....

Um...NO....people enter countries fro may reasons. I am gone from the US for 5 year contract to start out my career. Yes, i could have taken a job in the US, and been paid literally 1/3 the income (converted and balanced to cost of living even o.o). Am i forced to be out of the country...well no not exactly, but if i want to be able to afford a decent lifestyle you better believe i need to get my career off the ground.

I may even end up staying here longer if i can't find a job to compare in the US.....

People like you make me sick. You have obviously comfused those with the dispossable income to choose to live anywhere and do whatever they want with the average person. If your family can afford that your world is completely askew.

He is trying to show us that Yoshindor is Korean.
Read Yoshindor's post about Bigdaddy.

Correction: Yoshindor is a white American who grew up in Korea.

Just because I grew up in America does not mean I'm not Japanese anymore.
