Support vB 4.0 upgrade/errors

I may be missing something but: Where are the blogs?

I'm not fully following this...my brain is just coming off of two and a half hours of Advanced Corporation Tax and §355 so can you just elaborate? Do you mean the link that will bring you back to the forum if you are in a thread? Or the drop down box for the forums?

Good question, I was going to ask Reeve that myself since I got some errors when trying to fiddle with blog settings.
 
I didn't think anyone was really using the blogs? Don't worry, everything is available and nothing was lost.



vbulletin screwed everyone though -- they said "buy a forum and we will charge you $x per year so you can download updates"

Then they said "oh buy a blog add on and we will charge you $x so you can download updates" (this is on top of the forum fee)

Then they wanted to raise their rates but since they weren't giving anyone anything new they said "well, if you renew forums you get the blog renewal too"

... now mind you, each renewal was good for a year.

Then they just told us "fuck you guys, we don't care how things were done, we are going to charge you the full price for vb4 and if you want to keep the blogs, you have to buy a CMS from us too at even more money".

Right now there is the drop down box at the bottom that lists all the separate forums. Before, there was link back to the forum you were in. For instance, before there would be a link to the Site Stuff forum at the bottom of this thread. I liked that because if there were a few threads I was reading I could go right back to the forum after finishing one thread and go to the next. Now, I have to open up the drop down and find the forum that I was in.
 
Very minor, but are we going to get back the old icons for nightshift? if not I'll manage somehow :p

Those will be coming over. I've been doing most of the work for nightshift yesterday and today on my downtime at work and I don't have ftp access at work.

It's just replacing the images with the ones from nightshift. I had all intentions of putting those in, just wanted to make sure the text was visible in most places.

That's freaking awesome. haha I didn't see that. xD

It's got to do with the "scam" that vB is doing basically what Reeve posted. IPB is a different type of forum similar to vB and is having a huge sale because of the aggravation vB is causing it's purchasers.

Yeah I'm aware what IPB is (linsux.org uses it; it's really quite awesome but even more bubbly than vB4) I just didn't know if it was Reeve saying that or some of the vb devs.
 
in vb4, vbulletin added a link back to their site in the copyright notice. We are allowed to remove that link. I figured as long as I was in there, I'd express my displeasure over how they are running things by promoting the competition. lol
 
Oh and here is an update from the vbulletin team

Update: Please note that we are delaying the release of 4.0.2 because we are working to improve the quality of this build, primarily issues related to RTL languages and IE browsers. Currently we are targeting the end of next week for this release. While we know this will be a disappointment to some, we feel that it is more important to get these issues resolved in this version rather than pushing them to a future one.

mind you this release was originally due 1/22 ... but oh well, at least they are giving us updates.

Is uploading sigpics borked? I wanted to change mine, but I keep getting a database error.

blogs?? Are they making a return? Miros I believe t'was you who said perhaps... this version ish not so blog friendly?
 
Wasn't able to give a full reason why they aren't returning before since I was catching up on work, however after speaking with Reeve he said that since it's not used by a majority of users it's not a feature that would be wise to have here since the add on for the blogs costs a bit extra.
