I would like to say a few words about a player named Verboten.

You team-killing #*$&tard.

I had a good dunes party coming together and he was the last guy I invited. Apparently, he had a major row with two members of my group in a previous party. Those two said either kick him, or they would disband. As party lead, I did the best thing for the party (especially considering he was the last in) and booted him after explaining what was going on. I apologized for the circumstances and even wished him luck.

Five minutes later, he runs by training no less than five goblins by where we were (in the cave) and then zones into Lufaise Meadows. Needless to say, half my party was MPKed and only a quick Tonko saved me.

If I see you again, Verboten, I will not MPK you as I don't believe in it. But I will make sure every party you're in knows exactly what you are and I will make sure a GM is on your ass every chance I get. All of us reported you for what you did. Even though nothing probably happened, the GMs in this game are not stupid. Eventually, you'll be given just enough rope to hang yourself. Stew in your own bile and know that you only got half my party and the rest got prompt raises. Not to mention, the entire dunes heard about what you did. You're on the blacklist of my entire LS and I'm sure they passed along your name to a few friends.

Enjoy all the times you send /tells looking for parties or asking for help and don't hear anything back because you're blisted.

sounds to me like youre both jerks..

you dont invite someone to a party then kick them because someone in the party doesnt like them.

If that had happened in one of my parties, i would have told them deal with it like someone with some maturity, or you can leave.

Turns out he wasnt such a nice guy afterall, but its your fault for bringing out the worst in him for doing him wrong like that.

These statements I disagree with. As I see it, a party leader's responsibility is to accomplish the party's goals in the best manner possible - in this case, getting experience. We've all been in parties where someone's an ass or where there's a potential for major internal conflict. And a party with internal strife sucks for everyone involved and usually winds up with a bunch of people killed or a a very short-lived party, for the simple reason that it's torture for everyone just to stay in it.

My impression is that Celvantes did everything he could to build a good party - unfortunately, having to bite the bullet and uninvite someone in the process. Doing those kinds of hard, distasteful but necessary things are part of the party leader's responsibility. And the person being kicked might very understandably be pissed off - but being pissed off is way different than MPK'ing a party. And, as later events showed, Celvantes, and the others in his party apparently were right on the money about him.

I don't know for certain, because I wasn't there - but based on what I've read above, I don't know that I would have handled the situation any differently or, frankly, that I could have handled it any better, than Celvantes did.

If im the party leader, i make it my business to know the quality of the person im inviting. This is why if for some reason someone has to leave and they ask me if they should find a replacement, i tell them no. I tell them I will do it.. because I know they will invite any tom dick or harry just to leave the party.

Its the leader's fault for inviting the guy to begin with.

Normally when the leader is forming the party, youd go, hey how about a blm.. orly whats his name? ..erm.. his name is so and so.. ahh.. i hate that guy prz dont invite him.. hrm ok ill look for someone else.

not invite him, wait til he arrives, then boot him on a whim because someone already in the party doesnt particularly like him. I mean.. that person would have to give a major reason as to why i should make myself, the leader, look like an ass.. just for his sake.

im not here to cater, we're here to make exp right?
think of it like a job, u cant always pick the people you work with right?
I know someone will say something like, well this is a game, and games are supposed to be fuuuun :D :D :D.. but lets face it, xping is a job, its not fun lol. You xp so you can do fun stuff later on. Theres nothing fun about killing the same monster over and over again.

anyways back on topic, if i was the leader of that party, things would have went much differently. I take alot of initiative when it comes to making xp, and i form many parties. To me, the person is innocent until proven guilty.. by me. the leader ^^ unless the person with a problem can present a very convincing argument.. BEFORE i invite him. Otherwise, everyone gets a clean slate in MY pt.

Well dracoden, sorry to disagree... but if there are two people in my party that disagree with someone I invited, after Explaining the situation to that other person, There is no reason why Celvantes or the rest of that group had to suffer through the experience of partying with that guy. and from what I've read, Booting him was hardly a whim. Do what's best for the party. THAT is what a good leader does. Sounds like you'd be a good leader too, but just in a different way.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Also, lets not lose sight of the purpose of the post to begin with - specifically, naming a person who will MPK a party if he's mad at it. The additional information given also helped me to understand the context in which it happened, and to form my own opinions. Which I definitely did.

All im saying is that I would have pushed the ones in disagreement to give the guy another chance. Who knows, maybe hes cleaned up since you last partied with him. 'be the better man' and give him the benefit of the doubt.

Besides, how credible are the opinions of most people you meet in valkurm dunes..

Im not just going to boot someone unless I knew the person in question to be rotten first-hand, or if I knew and trusted the opinion of the person passing judgment on someone I never even met.

Turns out, in this case the guy was right on the money.. but think of how many good players might get turned away due to the same situation.. perhaps next time, the 'rotten' one will get into your party first.. and he will advise you to turn away the good players who, maybe, 'get on his nerves'

think about that ;p

I did - I went back and forth for a good five to ten minutes with those three. Basically, the two who were in pty first gave me the ultimatum either he goes or we go.

These weren't dunes n00bs either. All three involved were over Rank 5 and team-kil... er, Verboten had CoP Chapter 1 done because he was able to zone into Lufaise Meadows.

lol that reminds me one time, i invited a rdm to join my static members and me for exp.

We were 66-67 decided we were going to bibiki.. and he fronts, making it sound like he was gonna leave unless we went where he wanted to go. He was saying that bibiki was too weak for him.

I told him, look.. we are going to bibiki with or without you.. and we will make great exp with or without you. whats it gonna be. shut him up, it did ;p And what I said came true.

Id do the same with those 2 ppl. nobody gives me an ultimatum like that. They can take that attitude somewhere else. Ill find a replacement.

give me a break

OK , seriously how much exp did you lose that you have to come onto a forum for FFXI (as if you had no life) to bitch about someone who MPKd you? GROW THE FUCK UP

1. I didn't lose any, my party members did.
2. Besides venting at a very underhanded thing to do (MPK in the *dunes*) I was also warning others about this guy.
3. As for having no life and needing to grow up - I'm more than likely older than you and am active duty military. I probably do more before 9 AM that you do all day.

talk about having no life, who is the one going around ressurecting month old threads?

Dude... resurrecting threads like this isn't going to help your buddy out. I didn't even know about this thread anymore so I wouldn't have ever remembered whatever Verboten did. Now everyone's going to know. Good job, dude!

Last time I had multiple people in my current party object to the newest member so strongly that they would have rather left than to have partied with that person, it was when I invited Billyb.

Not knowing any better, I needed a healer and invited him. There were three people in my party that started going off about how horrible he was. I gave it a chance to prove itself, which it did. I booted him then, and then he had his friend send dirty tells to me. lol

It's no surprise the three other guys didn't like him. We pulled a Damselfly and it used cursed sphere within first 20 seconds, to which the appropriate response would be...What?
Anyone?

Benediction!!!!!! ftw
Little guy died about 5 seconds later.
I asked why he did that, and he said that everyone was in the yellow. :/
Yeah...We know...

See ya. I'll take the recommendation of the three other people that are doing just fine. We don't need that kind of trouble.

I think by kicking him you did the right thing...Sooner than later.

/sigh
I didn't notice...Or care.
Still don't.

Fuck em'.

ATTN - Bluedevil: The no life card makes you look more retarded than the people in Batallia thinking they can bump SH and Haub to 25mil. For your own sake, shut up and go now, almost everyone probably would've forgotten about this entire thing if you hadn't bumped it.
