:2cents: First some debunking:
Hydrocodone is not a derivitive of codine, it is a synthetic codine. It is a narcotic opioid analgesic.
Acetomenophen aka Tylenol does not cause stomach problems, in fact it is the safest analgesic for the stomach. The risk of taking too much acetomenophen is that it can put you in line for a liver transplant, particularly if you take an overdose while drinking alcohol.
I need to know what happened when you took the codine. Vomiting? Rash? Stupor? There is hypersensitivty and there is allergy and they are two different things. If it is a hypersensitivity it could be that you are hypersensitive to all opioids, if it is an allergy, it could be that you are allergic to hydrocodne or not.
I'm allergic to clams, but not all shellfish.
I also think you are fibbing, because a doctor wouldn't prescribe hydrocodone if he thought there was the slightest chance of an adverse reaction. So someone loaned you some pills and you are trying to figure out if they are safe or not.
Best bet has already been suggested, no one knows more about drugs than pharmacists. Call a pharmacist, tell him your exact reaction to codine and ask him/her if he/she thinks that hydrocodone is safe for you.
