Figured this'd go better here than on Good Times, so here goes:
Beat FFV last night in what I like to call "the old-fashioned" way. Under 30 hours total play time; a fairly straight-through playing, although I tried to get a few special items -- magic lamp, odin, that sort of thing. No Omega or Shinryu yet, although I've got saved games near both if I decide to give a shot.
Characters were all level 40-41, no leveling up just for the fight, no $TOSS, no MIX-berserking the final boss; just a lot of timed use of rubyflsh, items, and patience. Loved the ending.
Now I've got IX, X, X-2, and V down. Loaded up VI tonight; looks fun at 2 hours in. Still own I and II after that, and then I begin my quest to find VII and VIII.
Way I see it, if you're a monk in the 50's, you can farm while you're seeking, or you can play old console ff's. See everyone around!
