Video documentary on "Chinese" gil/gold farmers.

The times I ave experienced GS sending me /tells saying <monster> <mine> <leave> <death> <you can have this>, and such things were all I needed to see before I turned off compassion.

Fuck them.

Those that sell and those that buy cause problems for the honest FFXI gamer, period. To them, it's a job. As was mentioned, it could be worse for them, so why the complaining and the bleeding hearts? Not saying I want them dead or anything, but I certainly don't feel sorry for them, especially when they have the gall to be little shits in game.

human or not , they making our life harder too

and we pay SE to play not to farm gil and sell it
They dont make our life harder, we are able to do anything they do. people that make our life harder are the ones that buy the gil and pay anything on the AH. We cant blame gil sellers for this stuff cuz we are the ones that started the problem.

True there are rules and regulations to abide by.
It doesn't seem like they were heavily enforced in the past.
Its about time SE put their foot down.
I'm all for that as a gamer, and FFXI player.

But what I was refering is the difference of hating the person Vs. the business/practice/industry they are in.

These people are doing it to make a living.
You have to understand that.

Though I'm not agreeing their line of business is ethical since they are swindling from SE money by providing a service that should be considered illegal. Technically they are messing around with intelectual property that is not theirs.

Although we own a game, likewise with gold/gil sellers, the service still belongs to SE since they host on their servers. We only pay to use it.

What I was refering to is how easily they will get judged for doing the things they do. Thats what I meant by strippers because some people think they are bad people for what they do. I'm sure a lot of strippers or gold/gil sellers may or may not be proud of their line of business, but they do it to get by.

But I've talked to some strippers before through friends who are close with them, and they really are cool peoples.

All I'm saying if we're going to hate on something, we ought to hate the industry and those who lead & pave the way for a service that screws up our economy.

Now some of the sellers may actually indeed be those who lead and pave the way, but others might beg to differ.

Some people may have also indeed had contact with sellers, and as a result hate their guts. It may just also be a specific seller too.

Sellers are players too, so they can screw anyone over just like any of us can screw another person over.

Its a very iffy fine line between judging the person, or an actual line of business.

Heck if it were up to me, I'd shut those businesses down, lol.

Now you do have a point. There are regulations, and when you break those rules someone is bound to hate you.

I guess depending on the standpoint, people will say "I hate gold/gil sellers" which means the industry and all of them as a unit Vs. "I hate this damn seller named Kong Kong Bundy; I hope that seller gets body-slammed in on a hill of Meriphutaud Mts."

Ahh!! But to conclude, here is the thing to top it off.
For any person getting into drugs, stripping, selling gold/gil, robbing a bank, playing a game, getting drunk, etc.
As a person you take responsibilities for your own actions.
With actions come consquences.
As people, we all should know that if we get involved into something that people consider non-ethical, we will bound to get labeled as "one of them."

Its sort of like if you hang out with the bad crowd, you may be a good person, but you will get labeled and outcasted like the rest of them.

I'm sure we've heard all the old sayings in our younger school years about don't hang out with this crowd.

So in a sense, a gil-farmer who works for a gil-seller does in a sense take a hit. As a person he/she may not be a bad person, but they've got to accepted that people like us who play the game just don't flat out like them.
Why? Because they screw up our economy.

Strippers don't go into other people's bars and strip.

Bars have dress codes, which everyone must follow. MMO's have EULA's, which everyone must follow.

lol I can't see why anyone would feel bad for them. That housing wasn't that bad. They didnt seem to be sad that they were there. They COULD be in a sweatshop making shoes and shit, instead they are in what looks like an apartment. lol live in an inter-city studio with no heat during the winter and say they have it so bad sitting in a chair at a computer for a job. Ohhhh, they work 12 hour days.... playing an online game. Come on people, most people that play this game play that long lol. I know, and I'm sure some of you do too, people that work that long doing labor lol. Fuck RMTs. I can understand that to them, their happiness comes before mine... but... you know what? I'm not them, so they can stick their O. Kote up their ass, because I'll buy from someone I know before a Gilseller.

Yea some people do have a point regarding living conditions for the people on the video. There are other people that probably have been through far worse.

I'm sure we all have heard stories about small sects or groups that specialize in bringing in illegal immigrants, taking advantage of them, and putting them to work for a wage of little-to-none. Some line of work is sweatshop like, and others even prostitution.

I'm not too sure about their situation at that house on the video, but they seemed pretty comfortable compared to what other people may have endured.

I can't say much too though. The only Chinese I know is: General Tso Chicken. :-D

Yeah, they all looked pretty healthy to me. Quarters were cramped, but no one seemed to mind. It was kinda like going camping in an apartment.

You know what will be scary? Is when in the future other developing countries, such as Africa, Iraq, and the poorer estates, etc, might do the same too :shok: (unlikely, but China is just steps ahead in the first place ... and a lot of old computers seem to be donated to 3rd world countries ... )

When one day ... just one day ... they all jump into the same business to get by ...

With new MMORPGs coming out, its a possibility these other countries might hop on the bandwagon. Likewise with current seller companies.

A new MMORPG came out recently: "RF-Online."
I've heard mixed reviews, and visually it looks nice.
I haven't played it yet, but been thinking about it.

I bet the economy in the game must be looking peachy for now.
Give it a couple of months, and it will get swamped by sellers.
Hopefully it won't get as bad as it did with FFXI.

Wait, so why am I supposed to feel sorry for them? Quite a few of em looked overweight, and they seem to be able to afford stuff like cigarettes, so I hafto say I laugh at the idea that they're working just to put scraps on the table.

I can honestly say I was speechless after viewing that clip. Theres nothing more I can say about it, other thank a heart-felt thank you to the OP.

Wah.

Meanwhile 1000 times more people are poverty striken in the world and make a living dirtfarming instead of fucking over someone's recreational activity.

Isn't someone elses job to actually give a shit about this sort of thing?

I really dunno what to say about this. It's like that long ass post some guy wrote, about it being non-ethical. Real iffy if you ask me, but then again, isn't half the shit we do in our lives kinda iffy as well? I'm indifferent on the subject. Crazy video though...

Most MMO teams are smart enough to not make their games so economy based or realese them, if they are, in the U.S. FFXI is the exception to both. Take WoW for instance. You can buy all the gold you wont and you'll never hurt anyone. Same goes for RF and most other games on the market.

I'd also like to point out I agree with Mokk one hundred percent. There are also cheap laborers in China called "Nomads" they roam around looking for work and work for about 1-2 USD a day. They work from sun up to sun down and go to a TENT with many many more of their kind. I don't think I need to go on anymore about this group of people. If I see one more person saying Gil-Sellers "makes my life harder" I wish you an untimely death involving fire.

Strid, 'm confused, are you empthathizing with the sellers or agreeing with Mokk?

Lyrai did you know that guys who make cocaine and ecstasy e.t.c also work pretty hard to make them. That doesn't mean the government should stop raiding their factories. And yes gil buyers are the main root of the problem but that doesn't mean gil sellers shouldn't be stopped. In WoW yes the gold farmers don't hurt the economy cuz most gear and stuff is rare/ex and stuff like ammo is sold by NPCs

For once....I actually agree with WSM. O.o;

As a new player, I am ashamed to admit now, I did purchase Gil. I did not have a full realization of the ramifications of this decision until I had played for a few weeks. I dont agree with that anymore nor would I avise anyone to do it either. I now am investigating ways of farming for gil so that I am one less person allowing the GS's a market to pander to.

Thats shitty what you did but you at least feel bad about it I know a few ppl that bough gill and will proudly do it again if they wanted too. Ive noticed that other mmo arent so economy based and thast what makes FF such a prime target for RMTs. They dramaticly effect the economy on this game while ppl in WoW dont give a flyin fuck about them. I personaly dont feel for the gold farmers completly they make it really hard for for us player who wuld like to enjoy this game to enjoy this game. I feel FF finaly did something about because they see how the RMTs can potentaily fuck up SEs money if they didnt do anything about it would have been large swarms of ppl quiting.
