It was brought up in a thread and I thought I'd bring it here and try and get it set up. We need a Multiplatfrom sub-forum in the VG section. So when stuff like Rainbow Six, Turok, etc get released there aren't two different threads going on and we can get better discussions going. I'd still keep the Xbox and PS3 forums so people can talk about exclusive things, but I think it'd be nice to have a multiplatform section as well.

Call it Cross-platform / General Gaming

Give it forum priority 1 (can't remember what I set the others to) to place it above PC Gaming

We'll discuss it amongst our geeky selves and will post the results here tonight!

From strictly an organizational point of view it makes sense to have one, because of the sheer amount of games that are released multi-platform. Having multiple threads for the same thing in every other part of the forum would be considered silly, so why would shouldn't it be the same in the video game forums?

Also, it has a much wider use over the FFXII subforum that was made, and will always have a continued use as long as there will be multi-platforms, which is a fairly safe assumption to say, that it will be awhile.

Besides, if the VG section starts to get too big and you need a mod for it.

Several times friends on this board or myself have started threads for a game like Call of Duty 4 and others released multiplatform.
Now i believe we have agreed to make one thread, kind of an "Official" thread to stop others from creating the same threads over and over. To create this "Multiplat" section would stop alot of confusion and bickering i believe.
Not only will it stop multiple threads of the same game, in different system sections. This would also help mend the different gaming communities together.
At the moment there is a little i guess call it hostility between PS3 gamers and X360 gamers. A multiplat forum would have them coming together to talk about their favorite games. This would also stop many many other bickering issues honestly.
No more people jumping to another systems forum to complain of which game version is inferior. No more our system is better then you! More bringing the community together and less segregation on the forums. Thanks.

Also a good point.

Most of the time the multi-platform games just get made in the 360 forum, just because of the sheer amount of traffic that the 360 forum gets over the PS3 forum, but there is always the person that decides to make a new one on the PS3 forum, even through the PS3 users are already commenting on the 360 one, so it ends up being just wasted space.

Then when said, "Well there is already a lot bigger of a discussion on the 360 board here *insert random game link*"

Its most often met with, "Well, this is the PS3 forum".

Even though its still the same game/topic, but now there are two much smaller discussions instead of the much bigger happy fun time discussion.

This type of forum would be a good place for all "comparison" topics too. Tired of seeing the 360 mentioned on the PS3 board and vice versa. Whether it's taking jabs at the competitor or what have you, keeping it all on the "cross-platform gaming" board would be swell. Make this board then make it against the rules to mention other systems on the wrong board.

Could also optionally make PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo forums become sub-forums of the parent/general gaming forum. That would reduce the vertical space occupied. Direct links to each sub-forum would still exist from the index.

Eh, i'm not so keen on that idea. Regulars areas that are made in to sub forums generally lose *alot* of traffic, case and point, the FF12 subforum. It wouldn't be of a huge concern to me, but i'm fairly sure when i say this, that if they were made in to sub-forums, talk to the exclusives would spill over in to the multi-plat section, and then the world would pretty much end and all order would be lost.

Yeah, no sub forums :( . I like being able to scroll on the main page and see if there are new posts or not w/out having to open the forum. And like make said, they seem to die out which is no good.

I am convinced. I will add more things to it via moving threads and whatnot when I am a little less busy. I'm in the computer lab supposed to be working on a project. haha Enjoy guys. :)

Edit - I closed the forum to have new posts created until we fill it up with actual posts from the other forums. Spamming does consist of "First" posts. No one cares if you are the first to post in a new forum. ;p Had to delete like 10 of them. ~_~
