I've been kind of frustrated with some bad visual tearing using programs that overlay transparencies on FFXI.
Does anyone know what may be causing this/how tofix?

Here's my settings:
Anti-Aliasing: App Preference
Anisotropic Filtering: 16X
Texture Preference: Quality
Mipmap Detail Quality: High Quality
V-sync: always off
TRUFORM: App Preference

Thanks for any help.

Reset everything to default, all Auto control, then no visual tearing in ffxi

but if that don't work, try to download a driver that compiable with your graphic card, if those don't work, get better graphic card

Video card is Radeon X700 pro, don't think that is the problem, i'll try what you said, but I have a feeling it probably won't work, think I already tried default.

answer: ask blabj
he owns at software

try lower Anisotropic Filtering: 16X to App controlled

ya, only if he understand what you write mwhahaha

and is hardware problem not software lol

Still tearing. I'll try new drivers or something.

drivers r software well kind of hardware but its mainly software :P

Can you give me a screenshot looks on tearing?

Not really. It just gives awful FPS whenever I have transparency enabled on Mapmon over FFXI. It's fine if I take transparency off, but it tears like crazy with it on.

Hardware Problems!!

IF he is running something on top of ffxi with transparencies and and is start tearing on ffxi or the other program, is most likly hardwares problem

Hey Necro, do you have the same problem if you had different problem runs on top of ffxi?

Edit:

hmmm if you can have another program that have transparency capability and see does that make your ffxi run at a crappy rate

When i had xfire on top if my CS:S game running at window mode, it turn from 60-120 FPS to 10-15FPS., but idk about yours, could be hardware problem

Basically anything transparent or anything that renders over FFXI's overlay gives this same problem I believe, yes.

Ya, try update your drivers

edit: Idk how Radeon's driver works

but if like BFG Made the Radeon X700 pro is best you get a driver from BFG website. 3rd pt driver may have more glitches then fixing bugs

Updating drivers worked, thanks Vand.

I would have suggested updating your drivers, since it's like the first thing I do when I have a problem with graphics/sound/basically anything hardware based. Glad it sorted itself out for you necrosis :)

>.> i was the one who help him -. - XD

read all replies :P

ya, but sometime driver doesn't fix all the problem, sometime adjustion A.Flitering can cost game to run weird, etc or anything else

I meant, if you hadn't have said, that would have been my solution also, because it's pretty much the generic first response from like, every tech help place EVER.
