Ok yea not really but Mount St. Helens is expected to erupt within the next week or so. I wasn't alive when it erupted in 1980 so I have no clue how it will effect where I live. I've heard Portland was covered in ash last time and that was it. So did anyone live in the NW back in 1980 when it blew the first time? It's worrying me because these high paid scientists and seismologists(sp?) can't even tell us if it will erupt or not. :( So anyone who lives closer to it than I do...good luck. Hopefully they are wrong and it will do nothing at all.

My mom was about 50 miles from Mt St Helens when it erupted back in the 80's. She said it was spetacular and almost every city in WA had ash in it. But if you are not anywhere near Mt St Helens you should be safe. :D

hey...i'm in the Wilamette Valley..I was a freshman in H.S. last time it erupted and I happened to be in Yakima WA. I've been watching the news and they've been saying there's no gasses escaping so they're not worried about a magna type eruption or anything...from everything I've heard they really do not expect it to be much...but we'll see. Last time Portland really didn't get much except a few small jolts and some ash (not a whole lot) so I wouldn't worry.

If it makes you feel any better, the low-pay or amateur scientists can't tell us either.

We all gotta die sometime, might as well give the archaelogists something to entertain themselves with.

Dude, the world is totally gonna explode. First Florida, then Volcano, and we have been having earthquakes all week on the central coast of California. It seems like these natural disasters always come all at once. I'm gonna move to the middle east where i'll be safe.

I'm not completely worried about Portland. We're far enough away. But I have family and friends in Washington. Just worried about them. And the world will probably explode, there has been a lot of national disasters lately. lol

The day after tommorow........... minus the horrible acting and storyline yay!!! lol actually yeah its odd how all this stuff is happening next its gonna be raining skittles...

Ah well the mountain blew today at 12:03pm pacific time. They don't know whether its done or not. There was an ash cloud about 10,000 feet in the air I think. Some rocks were thrown. Ash drifted down into Vancouver and parts of Portland I think. But all in all nothing much happened. Was just a good show. :)

The mountain did another ash and steam eruption a little while ago. Sometime around 9am. They are talking about magma building up towards the surface now. So now I guess they think it will explode again...even though last time there was a steam eruption they said it was done. I never had these issues in Texas. lol.
