VP Biden's Daughter allegedly caught doing coke

How is biden not a hypocrite. He continuously fights for stronger drug laws and when his daughter is allegedly caught using he is silent. Where is the fighting for stronger drug laws now. Or for that matter how can someone who believes so strongly in minimum sentences for drug offenders and the like work for someone who admits to using cocaine let alone openly uses it.

If she were a slave to Joe, you'd have a case. She's her own person. You cannot control someones actions, regardless of your relationship with them. The most you can do is suggest. Her actions do not reflect his opinions, no matter how hard you try to hamfist it in to working that way.

Coincidentally, you're hamfisting pretty hard.

The only way he would be a hypocrite is if he got her off without any punishment.

You're not being hypocritical, you're being stupid for blaming him for not having absolute control over the actions of another adult. If all it took to stop people from doing drugs was saying "don't do drugs," or even a law saying the same thing; then we wouldn't need punishments for the people who still use them.

If anything, this would only help enforce his policies for stronger drug laws. Why does he want them? Because his daughter uses cocaine(I'm assuming she has a history of it right here) and he's seen first-hand what it can do and wants to make laws to protect other people from those hazards.

Everyone else pretty much gets it, well, everythin' except for how you're a hypocrite, Deja. I'll fill in that gap, you call yourself a Libertarian while bringin' all of this up. No need to repeat anythin' else.

lol worthy for the fact that the person who is arguably the 2nd most important person in the US, who pushes continuously for a stronger effort on the war on drugs, cannot keep his own house in order.

This nearly derailed your entire argument, until you later added that he hasn't put out a response (if that's true).

Maybe I'm askin' to much, but don't be an idiot. For one, she's 27, she's a grown woman. Secondly, as a "Libertarian" you sure are actin' heavy Republican over the matter. Shit happens, not much you can do about it. You can force feed your kids that drugs are bad and if they want to try them they're gonna try them, especially at 27.

I try to not make it a habit of calling others an idiot, for those times I might make myself out to be one. You might consider this philosophy.

Being openly opposed and gunning after one party DOES NOT imply you have the opposite end of that spectrum's interests in mind (find me a republican who would point this out and not at least agree that drugs are bad). You might notice that there are more than just "Left-wing" and "right-wing", only Republicans and Democrats would lead you to that line of thinking. Humans are far too dynamic for such simplistic evaluations; despite that, yes, most people might fall at least partially into that scope (especially when those are the only two options given).

If shit happens there might not be much that can be done about it. It seams to me that Dejavu is trying to point out that in fact nothing was done. Not even a peep such as Mr. Biden putting out word that he is having this investigated before he makes further statements. That's not hard to say 'ok I heard about this, I'm looking into it and I'll get back with you guys later'. So, to say there is little you can do (which is true), but end up doing nothing is not good. I'm not trying to say Biden is being hypocritical (yet), but he's left a lot open to interpretations, which is entirely his own fault.

Yup, you can. And Biden shouldn't be expected to control his home (ie his 27 y/o daughter). But again he's in a position laden with expectations to answer for things nonetheless. As a politician he survives on how the public views him. It's job security for him to be as up front with people as possible.

She knows that anything she does will reflect on her father due to the position that he is in. She knows that... she even went out of her way to campaign for him and then obama. Despite the fact that i think that all drugs should be legal. The fact is that they believe that it is a crime for anyone to use drugs recreationally and she can't even keep her nose off the straw makes me laugh.

Complete failure of lead by example.

Wrong again and hypocritical again, but even more so. You're on a roll. Maybe I should call in MC Hammer, but I doubt even that would catch.

how is me exposing someone else's hypocrisy and finding that funny hypocritical? And also be specific how exactly i am wrong. Details... now i'm curious.

I agree, you need some details, Strid. You are being hypocritical by indirectly demanding answers from Dejavu about his motivations in this post and not providing any response better than "well you're wrong". That kind of response is empty and meaningless.

The only way he would be a hypocrite is if he got her off without any punishment.

Baja makes a good response with points behind his arguments. Especially the first line. If Biden does nothing in line with upholding current laws (within reason) then he is a hypocrite. Keep in mind that a judge just forcing her to go to drug rehab is within the law. No punishment however is unacceptable without repercussions to Biden's stance. All of this of course is based purely on speculation that it can be proven that it is in fact Biden's daughter AND that she did take illegal drugs into her body.

On the second part in bold was pointed out because Dejavu already adjusted his stance to indicate that Biden hasn't seemed to respond on any level.

Everyone else pretty much gets it, well, everythin' except for how you're a hypocrite, Deja. I'll fill in that gap, you call yourself a Libertarian while bringin' all of this up. No need to repeat anythin' else.

I disagree Strid, your stance is very unclear. As a matter of fact you seem to rely on everyone else making a stance for you and just agreeing with them. I would love for you to spell out exactly what you think, no quoting or indicating other people's posts.

My personal view on the situation at this point is to wait and see what details come about.

I already did. I'm not goin' to philosophize with you over somethin' so simple, nor am I goin' to argue it. If you can't understand somethin' I put out there so cut and dry, and had backin' to boot, it's not my problem.

I'll use what I create, nothin' wrong with that. It's not like I said, "what he said", I already said it, but I'm not goin' to explain to the very detail as to why parental rule isn't ultimate. That should be common sense, especially for a "Libertarian", no?

according to the comments to the article the tape was said to be fake. i lol'd when i read the guy was trying to sell the vid for 2 mil.

as for the argument in this thread i have to agree with strid and the others. most parents raise their kids as best they can. but when their children become adults the responcibility ball fall into the the child's side of the court. Baj is right when he says this would only serve to strengthen Joe's drive for stronger drug laws. provided he didnt bend and cover the whole thing up. THAT would be crossing the line.

Really, the only point with any accuracy you made boiled down to "you can't control your kids in the end". If that's all it was, then you must have felt incredibly insecure to post all the extraneous material. You may feel free to not explain/philosophize/argue (or w/e), but that changes nothing.

You were promoting that anything anti-democrat makes you a republican. Wrong.

You implied that if shit happens, 'there isn't much you can about about it', making it appear that in this situation there is nothing that could be done. Again, wrong. No a parent can't stop their kid, but there is a lot you can after the fact.

If you think that because a Libertarian (let alone any other party/political view) calls somebody out for doing something they might promote, is being hypocritical... You obviously don't understand politics. The easiest way to debunk another party or political agenda is to point out when they fail to follow through with their own goals. So, Dejavu being a hypocrit would be also wrong. If anything Deja, he was just wrong in indicating that Biden could control his daughter, to which he already amended.

So there ya go, I hope that explains how I think people see it. Unless you spell it out differently, that's it.

Edit: Just needed to add, I'm glad that it was found to be a fabrication. And I want it to be clear my argument was based on the fact that these arguments were made on the assumption of guilt, or that in the event that this happened to anyone.
