Vrtra is a summoner, lol.... smn/blm it looks like O.o (they lost :o)

Well, yeah. It's already been confirmed that Vrtra is a Necromantic
Dragon... And like Tiamat, is also referred to as a "Her".

I got Face-To-Face with her once while farming a Hktk. Eye for my
Optical Hat... She sure is a fearsome foe... Summoning hoardes of
Skeletons to fight by her side.

I guess the SMN/BLM thing would be accurate, but it would probably be
more appropriate to say NCR/BLM... Since Necromancy is summoning /
charming the Undead. Speaking of Necromancer... I wonder when
other brand new jobs... "Blue Mage" would be such an awesome job...

Learning "Self-Destruct"... If a party goes bad, use it, and die with no
EXP loss... Like "Mijin Gakure"..

Oh, umm... Yeah. Back on topic.

Vrtra drops "Cashmere Cloth"... if I'm not mistaken.

Like "Molybdenum Ore" is used to Synth a "Barone Corazza", the
cloth is used to Synth the BRD JSE Body, "Sha'ir Manteel". But until
SE decides to either gimp Vrtra, or we find some kind of flaw in Vrtra's
design, I think she's going to be taking up a permanent residency in
King Ranperre's Tomb for a VERY long time.
 
or if our server could actually settle the greed factor and settle the petty differences and work together... though Ascension did beat up Tiamat on their own... Jorgy and Vrtra could be next for them x.x who knows...

they arent summoned in "hoardes." he summons a skeleton and a ghost after periods of time. and all the dragons do despawn if they sit there long enough.
 
as far as I've seen.. the 3 major dragons don't despawn ever. Only are killed off usually. Mostly the JP Alliance takes em out on the weekends
 
well then vrtra must have been on lunch break cuz he wasnt there when i went.
 
if it wasn't too long after a server reset.. then ya.. he coulda been down. And I mean it could be up to 7 days or so after the server reset before it pops x.x
 
she's a BST/BLM/SMN >.< have charm as a 2-hour (actually, I've heard Charmga too... but that might be a bit, much.
 
I don't think the NA (and likely the jp as well) community on our server has it in them to put together 2 full alliances to take Vtra down, i counted 35 people in the pics (and i assume i missed one there) we can't even keep from MPK'ing and stealing from each other at HNM's half the time. :cry:
 
if it charms then maybe bst/blm? and just calls undead like a bst can call some pets <,<
 
generally there aren't two alliances made from what I've seen.. 1 alliance for vrtra that switches in and out the dead and then 1 party for pop control and they call for help on things for the melee and such that need TP and not in the alliance to fight. They then switch the melee in and out to WS and then that's it. Atleast.. I think that's what they do. I know for Tiamat and Jorgy for sure. Vrtra I think is similar. Kirin is like that. It's fun :D
 
To anyone who knows remotely anything about mythology - Tiamat is the -queen- of dragons. Stop calling her a he. :roll:

And I'm lead to believe Vrta is a she and Jormungand (sp?) is a he.

Just wondering...if someone calls for help, wails on a monster, then they wipe and the CFH cancels, do you still get exp/drops? If so, you could go dynamis-esque on the thing (36+ people), put on Hymnus, and force-wipe right before it dies to cancel the CFH, then get back up and finish it.

But then there'd be some monsterous debates on who gets drops..
 
Wouldn't work Mishalea. CFH won't lift until the mob has regained all (or at least the vast majority) of it's HP...

and even if it did lift once everyone died who had hate, by the time the group reclaimed it, it would be at least at 50% HP again, these things regen like crazy when not engaged. after CHF if people reclaim it once it is back to normal, it will still drop, but for the above reasons that isn't a strat that can be used to make things go smoother :(

Vtra himself isn't that hard though, from what i have read. It is his summons that make it a difficult fight (maybe like how Kirin seems at first). Vtra himself, without the smns, is supposedly the easiest of the three.
 
It's not even the summons either. It's all the regular mobs around it that are still IT to 75's. You need an alliance just to deal with those.
 
they aren't IT X.x they are VT++ or VT+ or VT :D hahah XD IT seems to die out around 73 around vana'diel other than sky and I'm told in CoP that I can't get to without beating Promys and more >.> and ya.. CFH is a bad idea and all end game monsters have sick regeneration. And I'm not sure what spells Vrtra casts (I can't remember) but from what I can tell it does charm and does have lots of undead friends). So... unless it has Regen and a -ga III like Tiamat and other painful things.. it seems like it'd be pretty easy.. seems like it's just kited around in that room and people tend to stay away from the tail >>. for obvious reasons XD
 
Well I would assume it has Regen, otherwise it would be stupid lol

And VT++ is close enough to IT :P
 
vrtra doesnt cast AoE but skeletons he summons do
edit: well vrtra uses sleepga
