I agree with Krono, mostly because Battle.net is quite possibly the worst online gaming service ever (and I played on Kali, the old QuakeSpy, all the buggy, awful 28.8 systems.)
Blizzard tech support has been atrocious year in and year out. Diablos I and II were full of rampant cheats and hacks from day 1, so much so that Stones of Jordan basically replaced gold as currency with all the rampant duping. Starcraft I quit about four or five months in (at the top 10 of the ladders) because the maphacks started coming out and Blizzard did nothing to stop them. They care about their games about nine months after the problem surfaces, and when patched/solved the exploits start coming right back. Blizzard left such a sour taste in my mouth with those two that I never bothered with WIIB.net and WIII.
Starcraft never, ever deserved GotY. Especially in its first forms, it's single player was boring and uneventful and multiplayer was either laggy and flawed or over before it began (back when Terran Marine rushes were basically strictly better than anything else.) Total Annihilation was strictly better, with the first really competitive AI in an RPS (they didn't just build and wait for you to storm, they seized positions, took resources and had good tactics overall for AI) and a much more varied number of units, with downloadable units and a tool to create your own. I remember a Star Wars mod being quite popular for awhile.
And so far, WoW is following in the B.net tradition of being too slow, too full, and too unstable. Maybe it'll be fixed in the next few months, but probably not.
