I've been going to campaign battles as war/dnc for several hours today and it's worked out really well. Going as /nin is ok, and is great for some of those aoe attacks (yagudo), but those usually aren't life threatening unless weakened or it's one of the named mobs (2300+ damage taken, anyone?), and it sucks when not in a party and a fomor spams dancing chains. With /dnc and a great axe, however, I'm able to do my own hp drain with Drain Samba 2 (usually getting 20-37 hp a hit), can remove my own debuffs (bio, drown, paralyze, etc), and then heal myself on top of that. If I need more tp, I just switch to fortitude axe with some virtue stones and I'm set. What I will usually do is try to kill a mob or two before the beastmen arrive, so I will usually have about 90 tp to start off with.

It's nice to be a somewhat self sufficient heavy melee in those types of situations.

Oh, and you can't argue with Spectral Jig for that free sneak and invis for walking through aggro zones.

Thats some good info!

I am getting ready to try out campaign and /dnc seems pretty good.

This seems like it banks entirely on either the currently crippled Orcs, or newbie area Campaigns, since you stated you find monsters to attack before they "arrive."

Sometimes I fight monsters before they arrive unless it's some place like Grauberg. But anyhow, why would it bank entirely on something like that? You get tp from the higher level mobs just the same... Most of the mobs I've fought have been Quadav. The mobs that really suck to fight are the lady bugs and fomors since they can reset your tp.

NIN sub hasn't really changed at all. It's still great for a lot of reasons but doesn't give you the regenerative abilities /DNC does.

Dancer subjob is to melee as White Mage sub is to mages. It's about time they put they put something like that in. :P

When using Spectral Jig, do Sneak and Invis begin to wear off together or separately? Can it be recast over itself without canceling both buffs?

They start to wear at the same time. I've had it last only 15 or so seconds before it has started to wear, but usually it will last about 45-60 seconds. Sneak has to be cancelled to be able to recast while still invisible. If you cancel invisible and sneak is still up, it says the ability has no effect on you.

Ah thought so, that's still pretty cool either way.

very interesting thxs for the info. Guess im going have to lvl DNC sooner then I expected.

But you're not doing any amount of damage worth doing against them, making draining less effective, since at the same time, you're getting bulldozed at 350+ a pop.

I use the drains and my tp to heal myself so that I don't die. You seem to be missing the point. The point of subbing dancer is so I can survive without having to ask someone else to heal me all the time. I try not to pull hate and mostly just do autoattack, unless there is someone that is actually tanking.

Also, what is defined as an amount of damage worth doing? I'm hitting the harder mobs by 20's to 50's just like everyone else. I'm hitting the weaker mobs by 100-250 like everyone else.

Drains with my great axe are doing anywhere from 10 to 39 with drain samba 2.

I honestly wonder what mythical creatures you're fighting where you don't become the focal point of hate just looking at the mob. Cause Beadeaux Vanguard and Qulun Heavyshells, just breathing results in a free ticket to the ground.

I'm fighting the same mythical creatures that you're fighting in the mythical land of Vanadiel.

If I do pull hate, I usually just get hit once for 300-400 and then they move on to the next target.

Lucky you. I'm usually stuck getting beat on until they inevitably knock me out.

Ya no kidding skaw, i'm usally the first one down cause no one trying their hardest. I was fighting next to a few other drks one with relic scythe and I swear it felt like forever for them to pull hate off me.

Should just play this like dynamis hit them hard and fast and bounce hate, not hold back. Someone is always gonna hold back and its irritating.

On another note I did see you Euphacent rocking the Dancer sub, was very supprised to see it, and ever more so that you were draining those dark ele's that were kickin our ass in vunkerl inlet.

Haha yeah, I was using most of my tp to keep my party alive, then I ate it from cure hate. It's pretty lame that if the npc tanking goes down, then we all go down.

While you can spike your damage and pull hate, you can't do any damage while you're dead for 5-10 minutes waiting for a raise and then while you're weakened, so I tend to pace myself and use full break, if any ws.

Also, the cures are a really nice way to get a bit more exp and allied notes out of the campaign battles. :)

Wait

What NPCs are you seeing fight that actually generate enmity?

Quit dreaming, Euphacent.

No. An NPC will be fighting/tanking multiple mobs at once, and you can pull the mobs off one at a time to slowly kill them. Once that NPC dies, though, those mobs attack everyone nearby and we wipe. It happens.

Why are you so aggressive in all of your posts in this thread?
