Comparison one was relatively inconclusive given inconsistant foods.

It should be noted that this parse was before the version update; the 2h changes were not in effect at the time of this parse.
We couldn't find a /sam replacement so this isn't quite definitive. However it does compare a /thf with Fortitude against a /thf with Byakko's. Impressive results even though the latter of the two had better equips in some slots.

Camp was northern zone at Mamool Ja Staging Point. Strictly mamools and the odd sea puk. I popped sushi the whole night, Mistra did meat, and Mot started as meat then shifted to sushi. Parse ended about 15min before the party as food was starting to wear off.

I spammed Raging Rush the whole night and popped Cyclone only when Warcharge was up. Mot and Mist were spamming Cyclone the whole night (and got some amazing numbers even at low percentages).

The parse below - and all following parses - are indicative of changes after the 2h update. Version update changes are in effect for all parses from hereon out, including the below.
Ok, results are here as promised. I was subbing NIN. Phraust was subbing WAR.

And, the pinnacle of the night, of which we were all wondering when this was going to happen...

Wouldn't let me post all images in the above post so continuing here. The info in this post relates to the above parse.
Anyhow, for some clarification:

Jamal, and Meeze were using Sushi. Phraust and I were using Meat. Here's the gear charts- (Not on Phraust, that's a Torque, not C-Chain, Meeze has a C-Chain, not a Torque)

Round 2 including more alternate jobs.
Round two:

This time I subbed SAM, Jamal used his Fortitude Axe.

Rappa and Crosis used Sushi, Jamal and I used meat.

Additionally, Rappa was DRK/NIN (duh), Jamal was WAR/NIN(again duh), I was WAR/SAM (another duh), and Crosis was on MNK/NIN

I also died 3 times. To the same mob each time.

Excellent compilation. Will be neat to see Saturday's parse against three WAR.

Also, be sure to check the end of my parsing thread. I'd like to rerun the tests I did after the supposed 'fix/update' to see how the numbers come out. Thanks for the compilation. Ridill war took second in the first attempt, BB/Utsukane MNK took second in the second round, but both by great margins. Can see if those margins are lessened in the future update.

I got a PCC!

Also 7 Katana merits now, and dumped one STR.

Not available this weekend, but I'm willing to have my ego ripped out. I had a few merit parties since then, and had to get used to tanking full fights again, so my ego is back in tact...for the moment.

I could use some more merits if you want a whm again

Test wouldn't be this weekend, it'd be next. Please keep setup of the parse to PMs for me so we can keep this thread open for discussion on the parses w/o threadcrapping.

Edit: Somewhat related, but having GA in a party also means Lurkers don't need to be nearly as difficult. In our second merit party, I saved tp and used full-break to open on the Lurkers. Yes it cost me a little damage, but it was extremely effective.

Sponge round 4 completed earlier today. Same camp as my previous parses: north zone of Mamool Ja Staging Point.

CmdrFly: WAR/DRG
I used Raging Rush most of the time, firing Steel Cyclone only when Warrior's Charge was up. Included below are swaps for each.

TP

Mythril Grip +1

Raging Rush

Steel Cyclone

Mistra: WAR/SAM
Mistra spammed Steel Cyclone the whole session. He fired a handful of Raging Rushes but if I were to manually count I'd guess no more than 10-15 throughout the parse.

Mythril Grip +1

WS
sponge4_mistraWS.gif

Breeze Gorget, Alkyoneus' Bracelets

Spirburg: WAR/NIN
Spirburg was our control, DWing and spamming Rampage for the entire parse. Spir did swap the weapons around (so Meater was mainhand) before we started but I neglected to take screens.

TP

WS

Pallas' Bracelets

First parse: Mistra with Fortitude Axe

Second parse: Mistra with Martial Bhuj
All other weapons and gearsets remained the same. Fire Bomblet took the place of his Virtue Stones.

It's pretty easy to see that /SAM is now, by far, the top-tier DD subjob for WAR. It likely has been all along though the acc bonuses from /DRG may have made it more appealing before the 1DEX=1ACC change.

Next session will revolve around the WS. I'm curious to see what the differences will be if one player spams RR and the other spams SC. This is one of the last unknowns in my mind since the patch.

I'd say not.

Even after the update, DRG only has one subable Accuracy Bonus, and Hasso grants the same amount as it.

So it becomes a toss up between 2 jumps and a 5% haste earring, against 5 STR/Attack, 10% haste, meditate, store tp, and the ability to wear whatever earring you want - likely Fowling or Assault.

/DRG was never a contender after the Hasso update. Unless you're aiming to do the most damage within Mighty Strikes/SE K.Club time limit.

i want to be clear on this. when you say /sam is the top teir DD SJ for WAR, are you refering to just exp parties? or are you applying this statement to things such as HNM fights as well.

i still dont see what the big deal is. warriors have been tearing the hell out of monsters /nin for the past year in exp parties. why even bother with all this in the first place.

Did you completely miss the parse of WAR/SAM doing 2.5x times the damage of WAR/NIN, or are you just legally blind?

its not that im blind it just that i find the need for compairing them redundant.

we all know 2-hand weapons are a shitload better now then before. i've alternated back and fourth on my drg between /war and /sam. i use /sam more then /war now cause its the only way i survive exp parties. third eye buys me the time i need for my jumps to recharge and/or for the tank to rebuild hate. not casue i do more dmg. i dont even know if i do more dmg on /sam then /war cause i never parce myself.

i know im beating the shit out of the mob by the fact its dies fast and it faces me often.

Can we cut the mindless "I don't see the point" in this thread? Christ, if you don't see the point, don't read it.

Anyways, the point is to test out the various sub jobs on WAR now, considering Cmdr and I both main warrior, we're adamant about testing this. There's plenty of other interest out there. We want to see what maximizes damage output, and we found out amongst the WAR class. Jamal's parses were more rounded around including other 2 handers out there as well, where Cmdr wanted data purely on WAR gear, sub, and food selection. I'd say we've hit some pretty profound results. I don't think anyone here expected /SAM and Martial/Fortitude to outparse by nearly 10% respectively. I know I didn't.

maybe YOU missed the point. in the same wave you answered what i wanted to know, "why all the rush to parce everything?".

i actually asked this question to fly in game and thankfully got a strait forward answer from him. i saw this thread and wanted to see the responces of some of the others involved.

next question. where do you go from here? is war/nin (the job combo that has dominated the exp/dd scene for the past year) suddenly "gimp" now?

Considering that great axe was always more powerful than axe/axe on big fights(unless cannoning the fight like kirin/DL); I'd have to say this is obviously applicable to endgame as well; even more so since 2h is now buffed to hell.

They're trying to find what is the absolute best setup for dealing damage; even if it's only for exp it's to see if they can improve themselves. Not everyone just hits 75 and stops trying to improve their job, that's the point of the parse, a point everyone else seems to get.

Right. I keep getting DRG acc traits mixed up with RNG's and was thinking /DRG got 2.

Yeah strictly exp. I don't do endgame so I am not familiar at all with the kind of dmg (/SAM), control (/THF), or assistance (/NIN) needed in the bigger fights.

next question. where do you go from here? is war/nin (the job combo that has dominated the exp/dd scene for the past year) suddenly "gimp" now?
It may be gimp dmg now but it still maintains the safety factor. Also note that these parses had the WAR/NINs dual wielding. So the dmg difference is borne not only of the sub, but also of the weapons.

Yesterday's parse showed how much difference exists between the 'traditional' WAR build against the new potential WAR builds. I would very much like to run the exact same pt except having the WAR/NIN wielding a GA. Problem is, to keep a controlled baseline, every single question we seek to answer usually requires it's own parse.

I'm leveling /drg for the haste possibilities...wanting to try it using Rune Chopper, and then once hitting haste cap maximizing dmg potential, which I think /drg's inherant accuracy bonus will prove beneficial. Great results there, bigdumbface is going to be greatbighead soon =P
