Warhammer: Game still up?

Wait Warhammer isn't even a year old, and they're already putting out an expansion for it?

Something of a mini-expansion, adding in a new RVR/PVE region for us to fight over.

Expansion being shit in the game that it should of already had on release but wasn't added in, due to EA pushing for an early release.

Hah thats an abrupt way to put it.. semi accurate.

They are adding a dungeon much like Darkness Falls in Dark Age of Camelot. We war over a certain area for control..once we have control the door opens.

Mechanics of DF that I think will play into it are this if you never played DAOC.
Your realm unlocks the portal..everyone and there mother will be waiting to dive in....the realm that had it under control should have people still inside...but the door is shut for htem now...cant get in..but can leave or remain till killed by mobs or us. Its going to contain some good PVE content (hopefully). At the same time be worth fighting over and controlling.

Visit the War herlad for details.

So it's basically just a giant patch that they, EA, needed money for?

That doesn't make me want to re-activate my account at all.

Don't get me wrong, the concept itself is very interesting, and it has a lot of promise. I suspect it's something they were working on before the game went live, to one extent or another, and once it goes on the PTS we'll have a better idea of how worthwhile it's going to be, obviously. The core of it is something they did before in DAoC, so it's not entirely new ground for them.

I don't have any trouble with the way Mythic has handled most of their patching and fixing since the game went live. For the most part, they've addressed issues in the proper order, and with the right priority. It's just that the game would have stood a much better chance for success if it came out in its current 1.2 incarnation rather than the 1.0 they launched with.

Take it no on really plays that much any more... i havent heard anything about this game in 3 months

Game keeps getting better, I just stopped playing for personal reasons.

Balance tweaking, mechanic tweaking, customizable keeps, etc etc etc. Lots of great things, and ultimately I expect that the game will live up to the hype that was built around it, but it will be too late to rescue the game from obscurity.

WoW technically never lived up to its hype either, it was simply in the right place at the right time. WAR's "right place, right time" unfortunately arrived about a year before the game was ready to be there, and they rushed it out anyway. Still a smooth launch compared to most, but lacking the right mix of things to truly succeed.

I will play it again, IF they balance it better 1v1 fights are fun... the game is sweet for team based but i wana be able to actually rely on my skill to play some times

eh I doubt it will make me come back Warhammer even with the class out that I originally want to play. I had terrible lag issues in Altdorf that made me not want to play because it would take me damn near 15 minutes to get away from the landing platform to a place where I wouldn't lag (ok maybe I am exaggerating it wasn't that bad).

That is true WoW didn't live up to the hype. I had high expectation for War I think everyone did, and I can't disagree with your assessment I almost did anticipated that WAR was being rushed to beat Wrath of the Lich King. I can't help but wonder if it was EA or Mythic that was rushing the game out. I hope EA was the one rushing because it would only continue to show how bad EA is when they get their hands on a game that has a lot of momentum going into the game market.

I do have to say I like how Mythic is going about patching Warhammer and keeping things balanced unlike WoW which the solution is if it's OP nerf it with out balancing it with the class you just buffed.

Supposedly fixing the various lag and poor resource allocation issues that the game has is the top of their list on the next "things to do".

WAR's big window of opportunity was to come out far enough in advance of WotLK that a lot of bored WoW players might jump over and see how it was. Unfortunately, they needed to release a technically perfect game (or as near as they could manage) to achieve lasting retention and continue to build on that initial surge. Rushing the game out basically ruined their chances of that.

In many ways I think they'd have been better off delaying it again until well after WotLK came out, again in hopes of grabbing those bored WoW players. Unfortunately again, they'd delayed enough times already that they were in danger of getting the vaporware brand, so that probably wasn't feasible either.

As far as patching WAR, most WE players wouldn't agree with you on that assessment, but they're all whiny bitches anyway.

Fixing those issues should have been one of the first thing they did for lower engine machines. I can run the game just fine except for Altdorf and the Human/Chosen zone 1 of T2 for Chosen which made it annoying for when I wanted out of the Marsh.

Once again can't disagree with the rushing of Warhammer it's what killed the subscriptions in December when WotLK came out for WoW. I don't think there were many flaws with Warhammer I liked what I played it just wasn't complete if that makes sense.

I'd rather have the fixes right away then wait weeks for the fixes. i didn't mind the relative short download and installs to fix bugs they found. If they're willing to go that quickly with bug fixes it means Mythic really does care about the game which is a good thing. I hope that Warhammer gets a second surge as a complete game. I still think there is A LOT of potential because I did not not like a single class in WAR (normally I despise caster classes too).
