So.... I've been playing the beta test... and here's what needs to be said.
Even with constant freezing, this is the best game ever, ever. It's just a giant, over the top warzone with guns, tanks, jeeps, warhawks, gun turrets and dudes running around with machine guns, rocket launchers, flame throwers and machetes.
For example.. I'm on the front line and approach an open turret. I'm on red team and a blue soldier is about to mount it but I run up behind him and stab him, he falls down dead. I get up and there are 2 blue warhawk approaching, I blow one to shit and then I read I've got missiles coming at me from the second. I dismount and jump backwards an instant before the turrent explodes.
I run around a large hill as the warhawk switches into hover mode and circles around trying to kill me. I hear the pounding of machine gun fire against the hill and I keep running around it in circles as the warhawk tries to kill me. Then bam, it explodes and it's flaming remains crash to the ground. Two of our tanks blew the shit out of it. I run forward towards the enemy base and then SPLAT, a blue in a jeep runs me over, I fly backwards and my body crashes with a thud. I'm having too much fun to give a shit that I died.
Next game we're in a large flooded city. Skyscrapers with porches are lined with warhawks and gun turrets. I go into hover mode on my warhawk and start to blow away walking troops as they take base inside a building. Someone grabs a turret and blows me to shit.

It looks great, it's balanced great. The controls are just perfect. You can pick up and play and be decent but there's a lot of depth in terms of strategy and flying. Online is essentially lag free, up until your entire playstation crashes and you have to turn it on and off with the switch in back. I'm sure the retail game will have that fixed. I've heard they're patching that in the beta any day now.
My only complaint is that the sniper rifle isn't too good. It instantly kills but to actually hit someone with it is hard as hell because everyone's constantly moving and fast. If they made the sniper bullet bigger then it'd be great. Then again these are all hardcore players, maybe picking away people in retail will be easier since they won't be as good.

). But, maybe it's my disc (but it looks clean and fine) or maybe the PS3 has been on too much (though I've not played it at all today and I just tried it and for some reason it froze).. or maybe that last update.. hmm I should check my other games
