It's funny how the same week that HD DVD is given its death blow, Microsoft shifts its focus entirely to downloading media. All the same shills that Microsoft paid to write blog posts for HD DVD, suddenly realize that the format war was pointless in the first place because we won't have any more physical media. These guys are predictable as clockwork.

Their news mouthpieces are all saying they were both irrelevant anyway now and all their paid bloggers are echoing the same thing. Not even an "oops, shouldn't have been telling everyone to buy buy buy HD DVD."
The one thing I didn't predict was how all the HD DVD die-hards are now swearing off HDM altogether, and say they're waiting for downloads. It appears that HD DVD did exactly what it was intended to.
Watched G4 last night for the CES show... they had a discussion on the format war. The advice was that Blu-ray is now going to win... but of course, the host pointed out he prefers to just download on his Xbox. That female host suggested a PS3 might have games he'd want to play and he denied it... lol.
