Hello. I don't post much, but today I received a /tell from someone named "Amxnsu" saying that I was under suspicion of "Illegal trade for gold" and that the system was going to freeze my ID after one hour. I have a screenshot of the /tell, but when I tried to respond, it wouldn't send me /tell and when I did a /sea all, Amxnsu wasn't there. I grew suspicious upon seeing that there was no "[GM]" in front of their name, that they called it 'gold' instead of 'gil', the extremely poor grammar, and the website offered was NOT the official PlayOnline one.

Here's the screenshot:

I'm pretty sure this is a relatively new scam. I'm used to the /tells advertising gilselling and account selling, but I've never seen this before, so here it is. Hopefully no one falls for this scam.

I just got the same /tell as well. *Do not* go to the website, I'm sure it'll give you a keylogger or something.

You should blur the web address in case any special curious people decide to look at it. lol

No no, DON'T unblur the web address, get those genes out of the pool etc

By the way guys you're all suspected of illegal activity here, using windower etc. PM your paypal username and password and we'll talk.

We sometimes laugh that rmt go to such extreme lengths to try to screw people over when their tactics are obviously fake, but you have to wonder... people actually fall for this? ._.

same thing happened to me, didn't look twice though just kept playing

brings back the fond memories of the Diablo 2 Ranking listing/ladder/find out how many enemies you killed/ect scams.

Ive heard of a few on other servers that have fallen for this >.>

I saw this a few months ago too. Some people in my dynamis shell got the same message. I had got one of the messages as well. I just ignored it. It's from hackers that play WOW. They probably use the same script, since they say gold instead of gil.

I got those tells some time ago too. For kicks I went to their site on an older machine and put in
ID: "Tryagain"
PW: "Dipshits"

...then sent in a complaint w/ the url and /tell.

lolz, gold and not even proper grammar. Ya, it's a gilseller/hacker trying to get your account :P

Without sound harsh, or like I'm trying to condone what these scammers are trying to do... But really...

Anyone stupid enough to believe that deserves to get hacked. <.<

Well... while a normal person wouldn't fall for it a normal person that has been playing too long and needs sleep or is drunk might fall for it.

Lack of sleep and being drunk are not reasons to fall for this. Being fucking retarded (stupid and ignorant) is the only explanation for falling for something like this. It's scams like this that prey on senior citizens and other people ignorant of technology. I'm drunk as shit right now and would never think of giving my info, for any reason whatsoever.

Lack of sleep..... no way. If you are in the position to be tired enough to fall for this scam, then you deserve to get fucked over because your priorities are screwed up. You SHOULD be sleeping if the lack there of makes you give out your financial info.

Getting scammed by the same scams that have been around forever (scams asking you to give out your bank/cc/personal info)... I'm sorry, shit happens, and the shit in this case is your intelligence.

wow i was about to post about this but someone beat meh to it lol. got my /tell today......

kids fall for this stuff.........

This reminds me of when I call certain places and they ask me for my full Social Security number. I tell them hell no I will give you the last 4 digits and that is it.
