Watch out for Chalek and Mirandella (Yes, another dunes pt...)

So, I was out in the dunes seeking on Virtuotaru, recently made him as my mage alt character. I got invited by Chalek to a decent party with a powerleveler. Right away when I got in, the 17 war, Mirandella, said in /p chat "I'm gonna afk for 15-20 minutes, boot me if you want or whatever." I'm quiet for a bit, but a bit after, I ask kindly to Chalek if he can boot her until she comes back from afk, then reinvite her. It's not like he was replacing her. He didn't replay.

About 5 mins later, I ask him again. Mwar tells me to drop it, tells me to shut up. Apparently this party condones leeching? I figured that maybe the PL belonged to the WAR that was leeching. I ask, but it belonged to the THF. A bit later, a goblin bounty hunter pops on top of me, and kills me. Apparently it was my fault for dieing, so I get kicked. That's basically the story.

Really, I'm just venting, I've maybe posted on the flameboard once before, but these 5 other people in the party seemed to condone leeching, as they said absolutely nothing.

P.S.: This goes unsaid, but "loldunes".

I didn't say anything because I didn't want to cause problems. I knew you hated me, and me and the leader agreed that I should just keep quiet. I was going to leave for the pt's sake so they could keep going, but the leader just told me to stay and not say anything. Sorry, blue. :/

Dude, when that happens I just say I have to go afk too lmao...that way they have to wait. Then again if they decide to TEMP boot her I'll return > > ahahaha.

Seriously, it would've worked o.o...not that I condone leeching, but yeah...if it stops somebody from leeching then coo.
 
Er so you had a PL but you complained someone was getting free exp? Somehow that seems a bit funny since really you all were getting the same benefit's, why complain when you all get served caviar that somebody isnt cleaning their plate. lol
 
It's still leeching. Regardless, it wasn't even her PL, nor did I care whether or not we had a PL, I was there for exp. It seems wrong to me when 5 people are doing their job and one person is back there, sitting afk for 20 minutes, getting it free. Well, I guess since no one else sees anything wrong with that, I should have just afk'd too!
 
Hmm... well i think it has something to with some peoples nature to..... oh ya, help eachother out maybe? Even in a regular party you shouldnt kick somone for the time they are AFK just b/c it drops your exp slightly, and i do mean slightly, unless they go afk for longer then they said they would. And hell you had a PL, i cant believe you even care at that point that he/she had to go afk for a little bit, its not that big of a deal dude.

Personally i just think it means having to put a little extra effort into what your doing to keep it up, which i dont mind doing but i guess some people do. Im sorry you felt robbed but really, you shouldnt have even wasted your time complaining about it.
 
Yeah, I wasn't so much complaining as annoyed/venting that I got kicked for such a minor, stupid thing. As for the leeching part, I don't mind the slightly lower amount of exp, but the fact that she could afk at will for 15-20 mins at a time and get the free exp. I understand if it's something like an emergency, but it was something minor. Meh, I guess I should just get over it though.
 
I'd normally boot someone for the duration of his/her afk stint if the party just started or had been going only a short time. But, if the group had been partying together for a couple of hours there's no reason to boot over 15 minutes, imo. In a longer lasting party it's pretty common for people to need short breaks with the party covering for them while they're gone. But, if that was the case they could have explained the situation to you rather than just boot you for complaining about it...
 
In the dunes, a five person pt compared to a six person is hardly different. Was kind of a stupid thing to go on and on about. I would of probably brought it up, if the leader didn't care to remove them, then I would of dropped it there. And you have a PL <,< Enjoy the free exp.
 
KB, if you're getting PL'ed and someone pulls that.

Wait a few and afk it yourself.

I'm behind you that leeching is leeching, but instead of making a deal of it, just go with what Val said.

It's one thing to cover someone's bio/grab a drink/smoke (if it's not like every friggin 10 mins, hate partying with smokers who don't smoke in their gaming vicinity and need to constantly AFK.) another to let them leech.

If it's a big deal for me and they're not the person the PL is there for, I'll ask the leader to remove them to keep things fair, or I'll do it myself, if it's my party.

If they -are- the person the PL is there for: suck it up and let them leech, it's why the PL's there; AFK a bit yourself and see if you can do it too; or ask if they're dualboxing, because I know when I've dualboxed a friend to bump a lowbie job of mine where my skills were capped and boxing myself served little/no purpose, I just took the reigns to focus harder on the party, and auto-attacked until I'd hit 100TP and just use w/e /ja's to boost my WS crunch and pop my WS when I had the TP for it.

Oh and as far as my experience w/Mwar went.

I -don't- see how Knightblade was in any way wrong here. Who cares if it's the player's PL? Let the PL go too, it's not like you need one.
And with signet bonuses, you'll actually get slightly more XP with a 5-person group than a 6-person. So what if you'll kill slower? You're not killing any faster with them AFK.
 
i think this argument is more of an ethics question then all possible angels of efficientcy. There are serveral other ways they could have fixed the problem but it looks to me that the only answer people want to know is, should he have or have not kicked the player and where the line is drawn between leaching that is acceptable and not acceptable.

This is the reason the person should've been booted. You'd be killing in the same time period, but get more EXP. Even without Signets Small Party boost, since it've been divided up less

I thought you only got a boost in exp when the enemy was DC-EM.
