I never read the book, nor have i really heard of them. The Trailer's special FX and content looked so cool it brought a tear drop to my eye.

Youtube is crap compared to seeing it on the big screen

made my "must see" list for sure.

movies are so dark these days, and I love it!

Don't feel bad. The other thread has a vague title and the first post doesn't even identify the movie. If the threads get merged, I suggest this title be used.

Given how the story plays out, I'm half-wondering if Bill O'Reilley will go apeshit and start proclaiming the filmmakers of being 9/11-conspiracy nuts who hate America or something. Could be entertaining.

As good as it looks, I'm still approaching this film with caution because the story doesn't strike me as an easy adaptation. Snyder has already proven a couple times over than he can make visually appealing films. Whether or not he can make a film with a story that has any depth is another matter altogether. I hope he proves he can, but I certainly understand Alan Moore's skepticism on the matter.

So, this is the same Watchmen that's the Alan Moore graphic novel? Anybody know if they are sticking to the story or Hollywoodafying it to make it more entertaining to the masses?

Same Watchmen, yeah. Snyder is doing his best to be faithful, to the point of trying to wrangle enough money to do the pirate stuff (which could easily be removed). It's been awhile since I read anything about it, but he was hoping to have it for the DVD if nothing else.

Not a clue (edit: if they're "hollywoodafying" it), and I pray they don't screw it up too bad.

V for Vigilante, for example, was a reasonably good adaptation of the graphic novel.

Wanted, on the other hand, was not.

Slightly more relevant, 300 was also a good adaptation, but that was a Miller comic that revolved almost entirely around those sorts of panoramic dramatic visuals.

So at this point, I'm hopeful but I reserve excitement until I see a bit more or hear some early reviews.

lol yeah sorry about the vague title. It was more directed to those who read the comics.

So.. what's up with the final scene in the trailer with that giant contraption and ONLY silk spectre and the doctor standing on it?

I thought it was just something fancy they put in for the trailer to make it look like a watch, but then I noticed only 2 characters are standing on it. Hmmm...

Honestly, I know nothing about The Watchmen, but just from the movie trailer I can already tell it sucks, horribly. It looks stupid as hell in my opinion.

Well, then this is just for you, Ecks. =D

I own the Graphic Novel and the trailer looked spot on. Also the movie will have the exact same ending as the comic. Awesome :P

It's right out of the comic, when doctor Manhattan flees to mars it's the setting for when Silk Spectre realizes who her father is.

Also if you haven't read the graphic novel, go out and buy it now, totally worth it, if not, load up itunes and search for "watchmen", should bring up a new series of motion comics

David Hayter is so much win :3

The book is worth reading, no matter how the movie turns out.
Agreed. Watchmen has basically a cult following and is a good starting point into the genre. Sort of like Akira or Ghost in the Shell for anime.

look promising but then again so did some the past movies DD and Electra for example. Both decent film in terms of a movie but no where near to there comic standards.
