Way too many /sh's in Bastok........

Is it just me, or is Bastok the "king of /sh's" ?

Granted, every city has them, but for some reason it seems Bastok is
overrun with a near Biblical Plague of them.

Theres nothing wrong with a /sh for help on something if spaced right, but
the "my home nation is better than yours" and "you suck" type /sh's are just
getting out of hand.

.............just curious if I'm alone on this thought.
 
Sandy is bad for emote spam
Bastok is bad for /sh spam
Windy is bad for being so damn quiet and huge.

yeah I dont leave sandy much these days, I find when I travel I ALWAY have to spend gil and even if there is no good reason spend the gil i make a reason... so yeah I wouldnt know alot about the bastok bull headed /sh spam
 
Well, I hope that no Bastokians take this the wrong way...but that is why Rappa refers to the place as Noobtok,

Sandy gets it's share too, but, for some odd reason, Windurst seems to be the less plagued by shouting.

I don't know.

Maybe stupid people go "Hey, I'm a human, so I should start in Bastok XD XD, because that's where the Humans start, besides, Windurst is for wusses, and Sandy sucks"

/e-shrug.
 
I dread that god awful city. At least the music is good.
 
I like bastok for being so compact...but the noobs in it T.T quite a lot of shouting, and of course 3-6 Nin Quest help /tells a day if I stay there...

And once in K tunnel a request to go to Highlands to fight Forger, then probably Zitah for Sam Quest...while I'm in K tunnel :roll: /sigh....

I wish Bastok would move up in rank >< Being 3rd every week sucks ; ;
 
Bastok - Good, simple layout. Best music of the three nations. Too much Bazzar /shout spam.

San d'Oria - Layout is nice. Music makes makes me want to kill myself. Too much /emote spam.

Windurst - Freaking maze!!! Music is nice, especially like the Heaven's Tower Music. A bit too much /shout Teleport spam.

Every nation has it's pros and cons, Bastok just happens to have one really bad con.
 
I've heard plenty of bickering about my beloved Windurst. What can I say? It has a more "organic" layout than the other cities. However, it's the only city with 4 exits from the Residential Area, though the one in Windurst Walls is pretty useless. I find it faster to get to the Auction House through the Windurst Woods exit, and make a quick jog North.

There's something a lot of players seem to be missing out on in Windurst, and that is the teleportation services. It's a set of 4 NPCs that will Warp you from one section of Windurst to the other that's not directly accessible from the current zone. Here are the locations of each pair of NPCs.

WinPort: Top of Aurastery (big building) <--> WinWalls: Top of Auction House
WinWaters(N): East of Optistery (near Item Shop) <--> WinWoods: Next to Chocobo Stables
 
Some /shouts I don't really mind. If someone wants because they want something (want to buy an item, want to be teleported, don't know the city and want to find something, want to get members for a specific mission, etc.) then I don't mind so much AS LONG as they don't spam the /shouts too frequently.

But if someone is trying to sell something, items, teleport services, or nothing at all but they want to /shout just to add to the clutter then it gets annoying when they repeat the shout every 10 seconds. I probably wouldn't mind as much if they'd wait a minute or two between shouts.

As for quest-related shouts, it's a shame FFXI doesn't have a better way to coordinate this. I've noticed that you LFP, you can edit in a comment explaining that you're LFP either for a specific quest or mission, or to get a specific item, etc. But nobody seems to use the feature. Worse -- there's no way to search based on the comment. No wonder people /shout to try to organize these things.
 
Just thank all that is good in the world that the gambling shouts have ceased in Bastok... that pushed it overboard for me ><

This would be the problem in my view. Everyone is all gathered in the marketplace around the fountain and up the steps. It's in the middle of the whole layout.

You have to go through the damn market to pretty much get to any place unless you got the rez quest completed. It's pretty much designed so if you shout, you'll get heard more in the other cities. If you even look at the entrance to the city, you have to pretty much go to Bastok Markets because Bastok Mines is farther East and Port Bastok has to be entered from the tiny corner in NOrth Gustaberg. It's stupid. I love how quiet WIndurst is usually.....but they get shouts quite often too unfortunately.

Well, Windurst is kms away from ANYWHERE so that's pretty much why everyone shouts for a teleport. There aren't many people in the other cities who really desire to go to Crag Mea right? There's always people needing to get to sandy, bastok, the dunes, Rabao, etc....just so many more options to get to from Windurst. People who live in Bastok and Sandoria can just choco pretty much anywhere to their area unless they have to cross Jeuno.

But yes, Shouting sucks anyways, unless it has a purpose and as long as I don't know what that purpose is six times in a minute.
 
I don't mind bazaar or shouts that serve a purpose... It's the useless shouts about random stuff that gets me. If you want to talk about your lame life talk in a /tell.
 
Im of the same school of thought as onions. /sh's that are for a purpose are fine if spaced evenly.
My last trip through Bastok I was treated to a /sh discussion on Mithra racing
stripes in old Subligar :(

Personally i prefer Sandy music it so scottish!

But on a Related Note, i witnessed a very Entertaining Event once, a High Level *insert Job here* came back to Sandy after a long Leave. His first Comment:" Ahhh, Noobs and Bagpipes, what more could I want ?"
True Story I say !

Maybe Mages are just smarter, hence Windurst is so great ?
