i'm hoping someone can give me a helping hand when it comes to upgrading relic weapons.

as i understand it, the Goblin will first ask for a few misc items. after the items have been delivered to the goblin, he asks for payment in the form of ancient currency.

my question is this. HOW do you pay the goblin. as in: can you trade him stacks of one-coin currency, or will he only accept the 100-coin currency. I know one-coins can be converted to 100-coins, but where does this take place? also, can you make the payment slowly, over time? ie: trade 250 one-coins now, and finish up the rest later?

sorry if this has been asked in the past, but i couldnt find a thread regarding this issue. thank you for your time and sorry for my noobiness. ^.^
 
You can trade 1 at a time if you'd like. He keeps a tally. Like the Subligar/Leggings quests guys in Norg.

i've put off starting the relic upgrade for a LONG time now. i figured i'd get started. lol
 
please dont turn in the coins until you have enough to get to atleast stage 4. This way if/when you decide that it is gonna be too expensive to get to the final relic stage you can sell them to someone else instead of them just being wasted. I know several people that are on stage 2 or3 on their relics that have since decided not to upgrade due to the overwelming costs.

I am just curious, but is anyone even remotely close to getting a fully upgraded weapon here? or how close are some people?

Late Stage 3(Or atleast, the means to get there) is the furthest any NA has gotten on our server. :?

I'm 2 hundred coins away from Stage III of the Greatsword...it's been rather troublesome getting them. L. Jadeshells are a real pain in the ass to net. I have a bunch of other 100 coins, but alas, they are not the ones I need. D: I hope this Limbus thing comes through for us.

To emphasize what he's saying:
-Any relic item is useless until stage 4. Before that it's very low damage and very high delay. Stage 4 is uber in dynamis, stage 5 uber everywhere.
-To get to stage 4 it takes around 8,000 coins. at 12k a pop (really lowball figure) that's 96 million gil to reach this point.
-To get stage 4 you also need to get an attestation corresponding to your weapon. These are rare/ex, and drop off difficult dynamis beauc mobs.
 
I'm about 2300/6100 for third upgrade, and I started collecting almost a year now. And I got first and half of second upgrade coins easy before alot of people started collecting and can find 5K single in bazzars.

Only way to gather coins faster is to buy at 15-20K per single, and you be crazy to buy many at that price.

Can you even imagine how pissed off people would be if the coins become any easier to get? Oh God, the streets of Japan would be on fire.
 
Its stuff like this that makes me glad that i'm a BLM... Our end-game weapons are the Elemental Staves and we get them at lvl 51. Not to mention the fact that the BLM weapon sucks ass (like the AF weapon). Besides, I could care less about a relic weapon since I dont melee anyway.

GL getting yours up though, but I hear that alot of people end up either not trying or giving up mid way due to the astronomical(sp) cost since they can do so much more with all that gil. I hear that it costs somewhere around 300mil to get it fully upgraded :shock: Sorry, but if i can level Goldsmithing to lvl 100 on 2 mules or get a weapon that I probably wont use, guess which one i'm going to pick. :roll:

Do what these other guys are saying and save up the coins before you give them in because you are going to end up kicking yourself in the ass if you wasted all that gil on something you might end up giving up on.
 
I don't know how you guys can say the Relic Staff sucks.

It has additonal effect: Dispel. Only a handful of weapons in the game have that, and if it activates as much as the sword's additional, that'd be some sweet stuff.
 
Staff is also rumored to have +20% magic damage and +20 magic accuracy

No offence, but who cares if it has dispel, this is an item for BLM/SMN we dont melee. If the BLM is the one that has to Dispel the mob rather then say the RDM, then there is a major problem and its a party i dont want to be a part of. And what use do i have for it? Soloing? If i could spend 300 MILLION gil on an item for farming, I would rather save the 300 million and not go farming in the first place.

As for the rumored 20% magic damage and +20 magic accuracy, idk. I wouldnt want to waste 300 million gil on a rumor to find out that i wasted a fuck ton of time and gil on dispel and +20 acc on a WS i'll never care to get for a weapon i dont use for melee. Then again even if it is true, I still cant see the use of spending 300 million for something i can get for a fraction of the price even if the power is weaker.
