See parse results here:

Actually a page before this is the parse results...we've already planned to try again after the supposed 'fix' of the known issue, whatever they choose that to be. Also planning on another round this weekend pitting a decked out MNK in the parse.

i know i was keeping up with your results thats the reason i can't wait to see it myself when im finally back on the game.

Speakin of Onimaru, i was wondering how people are doing with that. Is it worth it more so than Hagun now, due to the 18+ att, 5 acc and higher base dmg? I haven't had time to PT yet and test it myself, so wondering what you guys have found out.

Wouldn't the update have nerfed this even more? With all the atk and acc from just base stats this got a lot less significant of a boost, and if people were already using hagun, the update would just make that more powerful.

No, the damage boost on weapon skills greatly closed the gap between hagun and onimaru. The higher damage and additional attack(even though sam/war with a brd is already at 750+) would still help. Onimaru has jumped from ~30k to 300k on the AH because of the update; it's holding it own again.

well now the demonic energy of the onimaru can now compete with the minimal TP boost from the hagun, but lets see if the soon to come maintenence for the update will keep it that way

edit: and a few forums including ffxiclopedia will have to change the DPS for the 2 handed weapons

How you guys let the best post of all-time slip through the cracks is beyond me. Good discussion before this started, but romg...
nothing wrong with that post it true you try holding up a musketeer gun from a stand position or pulling back a medieval bow.

Guns aren't all that heavey, unless you are talking about like a .50 cal rifle or something with all the add ons. Muskateer guns aren't that complicated, so they aren't that heavy.

Bows on the other hand. My highschool friend goes bow hunting with an old school long bow. He has arms like a bear.

Yeah, STR serves no real purpose in using a gun; if you can lift it you can use it. SE just didn't make a separate damage formula for bows, xbows and guns. It makes sense, really; they're supposed to be interchangeable, giving one a completely different formula would take away from that.

Retiring friend of mine gave me his old Onimaru out of kindness. I figured I'd just keep it as a token of remembrance and use a Hagun, but now I'm glad I kept it. Although, how this "fix" will change things remains to be seen. I'm hoping they don't nerf it horribly.

Yeah, I'm wishing I hadn't sold off my Onimaru a long time ago.

Well once SE implements this "fix" we'll have to have to new parser results and see how much it's been changed. I've also just realized that since 1 str = 1 atk, Hasso almost acts like a 2nd zerk for sam/war, which might be something to be changed/altered/etc.

10 attack = weak as hell berserk.

Hence why I said "almost". I only say that because of the 1 str = 1 atk change. I'm actually curious to see HOW they're fixing it.

From what I've seen so far, Onimaru is doing great damage now. Whether it is better then Hagun, I don't know. I know the higher base DMG, acc, and atk will actually make melee damage better then hagun, so it could be that alone that outparses hagun, since Onimaru WS damage is doing alot more.
Also, Hagun dropped to 600k so far, and Onimaru is 300k now.

Does the pdif affect WS damage too? If so, wouldn't Hagun be useless at 200+ tp? (Probably a dumb question, correct me if I'm wrong here.)

Hagun, and all martial weapons, have always been useless at 201+tp i thought. I didn't think they gave you any bonus past the capped 300% tp.

Uh, why? DPS doesn't reflect your actual damage done. Unless Damage or Delay on a weapon is modified, DPS will always be constant. No matter what changes in anything else in the game. It's simply a translation of weapon damage in to seconds.

Don't forget, once you hit 100% TP while wielding an Onimaru, you lose the benefit of the bonus DMG, Attack, and Accuracy, which reduces your DoT while meleeing (the edge that Onimaru has on Hagun).

Either way you go, both weapons are best if you WS as soon as you hit 100% TP. Which is better for this? I don't believe the final verdict has come in on that one yet. I've heard a few of the number-crunchers on BG saying that Onimaru is better for seven-hit setups, and Hagun better for six-hit; sounds like they're pretty damned close to me. Enough that I sent the Onimaru I had sitting on my mule for almost a year now back to Nyosan. I haven't had a chance to compare the two in anything resembling a controlled atmosphere, though.
