Weaponskill Changes - Post what you notice

UH.. I kinda dont really care about that tymon.. lani gave you control of his charcter and you can do whatever with it as you/him see fit. i was saying that more to tease lani than to throw any barbs or whatever you thought i was doing at you.

The WSs up in sky were like this all night. Constant 1900's, 2000's. The only two times I got less than 1170 on Gekko was when I got 670's twice from Zanshined Gekkos (first swing miss, zanshin proced), or so I assume anyways, since they were 1% tp return. On the 2.2k, which I did twice, I had only cor buffs on that one above as you can see, was 100% tp with hagun, no 2hs, no Dia's for any of the mobs, no angon on that one either.

Im not amazingly geared, but I guess Im not a slouch either. No GKT merits though, full med, full store tp, full overwhelm, full STR and crit merits though.

This update is massive. Im thinking I'll have to sub ninja for camps like mamools. The 1 Dex = 1 ACC has gotta be the biggest part of this update, had over 93% acc with an attempt to use as little acc as possible on melee, tried out flame ring for melee instead of woodsman.

Only missed 2 Gekko's iirc, which is pretty good with meat and minimal acc. I can't even imagine what completely merited and pimped out SAMs can do now...and relic owners....@_@

Just finished exping on Greater Colibri in a SAM/WAR x3, NIN/WAR, WHM, RDM pt.

Gekko's continued to impress, the consitency of it is just insane. I had exactly one WS under 1k in about 2 hours of exp, and nearly all of them were 1300ish for normal 1 hit, and I capped out at 2169 Gekko at 200% TP (DA proc) with same setup as above, no songs, corsair buffs or food, but the RDM was using Dia. ACC was not an issue, although I felt I could of used a little more, so I did put woodsman ring back on for melee.

I think one of the major things that needs to be tested is Hauby+1 vs Osode for SAM/WAR WS. I'm still leaning towards Hauby+1, but Osode could very well end up being king.

I was afraid the -6 DEX (thus -6 acc) on alkys might of been an issue, but after a few pts now, its obvious that the acc loss means next to nothing in an exp setting. Maybe on more evasive HNMs it could be an issue.

Well me and a friend decided to mess around on lesser colibri as our drk's, seeing the numbers we could put out since the update.

This is us drk/war:

This was using meat kabobs, absorb spells, and all available JA's of course. In any case, I'm liking the update lol.

Side note** We did test cross reaper a few times at 300%, didnt compare to guillo, but dark did get up to about 2500 with it.

Big thing stuck out in this as well, no BRD or COR in the party. Pretty amazing that you got these numbers with that, as my WS I posted last night was also without a BRD. I'm very interested in your exp/hour relative to the previous cannon setups.
You mentioned for Mamools you'll have to consider /nin, also be interested in the relative differences found between /war and /nin, as well as overall party effectiveness with the use of those subs.
Also previously there was always an acc cap pre-food as well (I found it to be around 45-50 acc on WAR) before acc began to lose effectiveness. I'm wondering if this acc cap has been tossed aside for two-handed weapons, it sure seems that way otherwise the DEX=ACC wouldn't be as noticeable.
And finally (My mind has been on overdrive thinking), I'd like to see a Mamook Party with the CRIT+2 Grip, Using Trollbane with a High dex build, and an Amood during First quarter moon phase. The double-attack proc is pretty sick with Amood, and the crits to make up for the lower damage could really be pretty impressive

Anyone in the middle levels tried two handed weapons out? My SAM is 62, and itching to get going with it.

Just saw this...if you buy yourself a PCC i'll level my NIN with you :D

Your crit did more than half of Fly's RR, man he's gimp.
Yeah I was far from impressed in Dynamis. My RR were doing mostly the same 400-700 they usually did, with a crit or two it'd jump to ~1k.

Went to take on some TW mobs in Castle O afterwards and it's much easier to see the change... 9/10 swings were hitting cap at 339, crit or not. RR was doing a steady 1296, which I'm guessing is the cap with the mods I had on before crits.

Seeing Zoolander's SS made me think.

How much does this update effect the use of the gigas braces. Since its 1 dex = 1 acc now, that is a pretty big chunk of acc going away on a weapon skill. Has it majorly affected anyone yet? I can't see it doing terribly much on sushi eaters, but for meat eaters that might have a bit of a down turn.

If you are a 2 handed weapon user dont touch sshi... EVER.

Just wanted to make that clear.

Yeah, okay.

Question still stands.

Yeah, I'm really glad that now Im back, I won't have to eat that crap anymore =D

Well make. the thing is that if you are getting 95% acc in regular gear and now all of the little dex boosts in your ws gear now which might actually make for more acc than your tp set is losing 6 acc really going to matter tha much?

You know, despite typing coherently, Khajit, I had absolutely no idea what you just posted. Seriously man, that was a long run on. :(

Well Khajit. Considering played Drk, and wasted a pretty good ***** of my money on e-peen numbers i only had about +15 acc in WS gear(pcc and black set head). Sometimes about the same in melee gear if i was hitting well enough.

The point being if i put on the gigas bracelets, i would probably need to add some acc, because like most 2-handers, i only put on the minimal amout of acc to hit for 9X% and get full tp return most times, and all the rest was attack.

So i ask 2-handers, is that -6 acc now forcing you to change some other of your gear around and working ever better, or does it not warrent a change in gear at all.

You're ignoring the +30-45 accuracy boost you got with this update because now EVERY point of your dexterity is a single point of accuracy. With this update, my SAM gained about 46 attack and 45 accuracy, without changing any of my gear; I haven't even played enough to buy a grip. The update is huge, the accuracy loss from the gigas bracers is nothing compared to how much you're getting off your natural dexterity, let alone from any other gear.

Happy Drg

This update rocks but i'll always love my Drg even if they decide to nerf it. I've been Drg main thru all the ups and downs. I think SE did this because 2hand weapons were definetly being less perferred. When they noticed Drks using /nin with axes i guess that was the last straw. Now people will break out the GAs and GSs and maybe even the Staffs. This ain't no competition with the so called Cannon Jobs, just leveling the playing field. And whoever said those cannon jobs gain TP faster than any other, they are wrong. Drg and Sam both have excellent TP building ability, even without the acc gear. In the past Drgs may not have had the best on WS damage but they sure as hell could compete with normal swings. Now with the extra Acc Bonus trait for Drgs, meat will be an option. That i am looking forward too.

Can't wait to merit tonight.

Touché. Question Retracted.

No one said they built TP the fastest(although they build TP damn fast, but SAM is about fast with a 6-hit setup); what I said is that their damage over time is what made them the cannon jobs. Weapon skill wise, the cannon jobs weren't even the best(MNK especially), only beating out DRG usually; it was the DoT that pulled them ahead of the pack.

Basically.. do you own a peice of hecatomb or two? if yes... then you already have acc built into your ws set and -6 acc really wont be the end of the world.
assuming you have on warwolf, minuet earring, and hecatomb feet you have on up to +9 dex. add in rajs and that's 14 dex already.
If you dont have hauby you should die so that's another +15 acc
neckpeice should be chiv chain, pcc or a sea/ws gorget which means another 5 acc in there minimum.
that's looking at +42 acc with basic gear not counting merits during a WS.
