well finally

I think you should slow down lol.. You will fall into that area where you dont enjoy any of the games because you have so many to play at once.

I dont have a job so i pretty much play all day. Tales of Vesperia is also on my lis so, maybe ill pick it up too.

I would get Tales of Vesperia before Star Ocean 4. Vesperia is easily the best RPG of this gen, and if you have friends who'd be interested, they can play along with you.

And then... buy the superior version on PS3 later? At this point, it'd be better to wait, imo.

Not so sure you can say Tales is "easily" the best this generation. I mean, there's not too much stiff competition but it came out near Valkyria Chronicles and Fallout 3 which could both be considered equal if not better... and Valkyria Chronicles was a whole lot fresher. Lost Odyssey was no slouch either and it's biggest flaw(being too damn similar to FFX) Tales of Vesperia doesn't exactly transcend... it's battle system is only slightly altered from previous incarnations.

By the way, if you've still got GTA4 in the shrink wrap, I suggest you return it. There will be a compilation of the DLC as well as a 2nd DLC for the 360, and they don't require GTA4. So you might as well just get that instead of buying GTA4 again and then buying them.

This fella is right. I'd also bet Star Ocean 4 is gonna get a price reduction in the commin' months as well. It's not gonna become some rare gem you wont be able to find so better to wait it out. It's definitely not worth $60 if you have other games you'd like to complete lined up.

Having played all 4 of those games, I really can. All of those are good/great games, but vesperia beats them.

Lost Odessy felt incomplete near the end. Valkyria Chronicles was new, but mainly in it's art style; the gameplay was a toned down version of Jagged Alliance in 3D. Valkyria is more of a strategy game than an RPG, it's just got a well written story.

Fallout 3 is the best of the 3 you're comparing Vesperia to, but most of the time you could play it as a FPS game rather than an RPG; the rest of the time it was a giant sandbox game, just with RPG elements. The best thing about Fallout 3 at this point is the mod scene.

Vesperia's battle system is a modified version from Abyss, but how exactly is that a bad thing? When you have something that works well, it's stupid to throw it away and make something completely different just because it'll be different(Hello FF8). Everything that was good about Abyss(and other Tales games, but Abyss is the closest game) was improved on in Vesperia. Plus, since Vesperia can be played with other people, you can have a lot more fun with the game.

This is a really good point. I'd completely forgotten that it was coming to PS3, but if the guy doesn't have a PS3, then he should definitely pick it up.

Just bought Vesperia recently myself...I'm enjoying it more than Star Ocean since well the characters aren't annoying and their voices generally fit in with them...unlike in Ocean where the acting seems a bit forced at times...

I don't really have anything to add to the list since alot of people covered the good games lol D=

Ace Combat 6 can be a good deal if you like flight sim/arcade games. I remember seeing a magazine article about Namco porting it to PS3 and I haven't heard of it since then. Still, a flight game is always a nice option for a change of pace once in a while and I'm pretty sure you can get it for 20-30$ bucks.
