::looks in the Chest of "Cans-o-Worms":: Here's a Good One.
::turns around, smiling, Can in Right Hand, Can Opener in Left::

Ok, I was around when the Holy Realm of FFXI was still pure and had no PS2bies in it, at least not on the NA End.

/rant on

Objectively seen, back in the Day, a Pick Up Party did NOT Spell Certain Death to the Tank adn anything non-Magey.
Now it looks like this:
Mages Level Rate in 3 Days: +5
Melee Level Rate in 3 Days: -5

Meanwhile on the Island of Quifm: Where's all the Warriors and Tanks ?

They never made it this far, you climbed their Corpses while leveling !

In all honesty, I enjoy playing a Mage, but after a while that gets old, not boring, old. So I make a Mithra Warr, ready to die when necessary so the Mages can make it out. But ! The Mages decide that it is my duty to Die for them, not a favor. An Example:

I died 4 Times saving one WHM. He levels and leaves, next one comes in, says "I got 200 tnl can u save me 2, I dun wan2 delevl ?" Sure, just make him stop typing. ... Pulling Leecher <Callloudwhistlevariation12> ... I die, he levels he leaves.

...

Now, please tell me this:
Since when was it obligational for me to die 4 times so you can level 4 Times ? Why can't you keep me alive, as I keep You alive ? Since when did the Mutual Cooperation stop ? Aren't WE in this TOGETHER ? And yes, I blame it on the Release of an MMO to a Group of Teamkillers, FPS Players and FF Fanboys. Sue me.

Hahahaha. It sucks that it happens but now you see why most melee are so pissed off just about.. well.. let's see.. 100% of the time. Not only do I die for them, I take the blame when something goes wrong, almost every single time. You want something that gets old? -THAT- gets old, but it sure never stops happening. I think for every one nice, polite, and helpful mage, I've had roughly another 200 that are selfish, only look out for themselves, and have no problem pointing a finger at you if something isn't going right. Get them some buffer exp and "oh golly gosh guys I've got to help my LS" or "oh I gotta go do something."

I try my best to oviod low rank's now days. I WILL not party with anyone rank2 ANYMORE. I've fucking had it.

Lol, Well ontop of mages being 39% invincible those damn thf's my god I go into a battle and come out of a battle with 0 dmg taken (can prove it on log parser) except when it comes to any mob with a AoE

I'm sorry daroth can you reword that, it was just one big long ass run-on. I could not understand a damn thing, ( No flame intended ).

its 2:30 in the morning and I am dead tired I am sure you can do yourself that task. I am going to bed ttyl

I tried to understand what your saying by reading that post over 20 times now, You're gonna have to reword.... it seems like your trying to say two things at once....

I'll reword it for you:

BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH

BTW, Ellah, I just dealt with this problem tonight. Mages seem to think that equipment isn't necessary. ;_;

Died FIVE FUCKING TIMES (twice from the same damn mob, died, homepointed, died again) till Palum came along, raised me, and kept me healed till I levelled.

Rank isn't really a Filter though. After all I am a Rank 1 no sub and I am teh l337 PwnroXX0r.
So all these po' Sucka's that restart get tossed in the same Crowd as the Freakin PS2 FF Fanboy Teamkillers and FPS Playaz.

*feels insulted just by reading this thread*

rank 2 doesn't = asshole. nor does rank 5 = nice person. it doesn't take any level of kindness to do those missions, now does it?

also, up until now, as a monk it was always almost impossible for me to grab aggro when somthing went wrong. i would have happily died to save someone, but i usually didn't get the chance. (now i'm starting to do it without trying ^_^)

two more things:

i belive proper punctuation for this comment would be as so:

Lol, Well ontop of mages being 39% invincible, those damn thf's my god. I go into a battle and come out of a battle with 0 dmg taken (can prove it on log parser), except when it comes to any mob with a AoE

this comment fills me with terror, doubt, and sickness.

Stopping here. You are obviously an idiot.

Most bad parties I have been in, where not because of any one person or platform. They where bad parties because they where not setup correctly to begin with. Having five Melees’ and one Red Mage curing, trying to fight monsters 4 levels above there group level will never work. This is why I dread getting invites from warriors. It never fails they seem to put together melee heavy parties. I remember parties in the dunes as a Red Mage. I remember having a Pug do screwdriver on a tank and 1 hit kill the tank. The tank gets pissed off at all the mages because he died. Simple fact no body could have done anything; it hit you for more hit points than what you had in a single hit. I have died many times as a mage because the tank could not do there job. As a red mage, in most cases I am the first to die in my party since, I am the one who takes on any links we may have, even if it means death.

Even from Tyrion?

I try to balance the PT - a main tank, a backup tank, plus one of the following: A WHM and a BLM, or two RDM, and then I fill the other two slots with what I have at hand - be it another WAR, a DRK, a second WHM or BLM, but I try to balance between Healing and Damage.

But my new rule for myself is this: If the healer stops healing me, I stop 'voking. :P

I concur.

System ≠Competence.

I've partied with many excellent PS2 players. Have a party with Hayatox or Lokiloliikuma and just try to tell me again how shitty ALL PS2 players are.

It pays to think a little before posting.

Oy, I don't doubt that there are competent PS2 Players, but if you tell me, that statistically speaking a PS2 Player has more Online Experience than a PC Player then you are incorrect.
The PC, and thus MORE Owners has been online LONGER, hence the AVERAGE PC PLayer will have better online etiquette than the AVERAGE PS2 Player. I just usually direct Rants at those PS2 Kiddies that:
a. Have NEVER before played online, I don't count Diablo 2
b. Don't know how to Play online
c. Don't care to know how to play online, because they think Diablo 2 is an MMO.

Example:

A: *blind invites*
B: *declines*
A: * blind Invites*
B: *declines*
A: *blind invites*
B: *accepts* You do know that blind invites are considered rude ?
A: i tught u ware a Wtm lol
B: *kicks from Party*

or this one:

A: *blind invites*
B: *accepts*
A: *doesn't reply, continues soloing in LaTheine*
B: Why did you invite me ?
A: *doesn't answer for 10 minutes*
B: *disbands*
A: *blind invites*

And I can guarantee you, 9 times out of 10, this is not a High Rank or High Level. This is a PS2bie who bought FF and wonders how yyou buy Armor in this Game and why all these NPC's are walking around and talk so much even when you don't select them.

Argue with me on these Stats, come on. Prove to me that the AVERAGE PS2 Player has any significant MMO Experience. I know EQOA didn't exactly fly off the Shelves.

I play a WHM and a summoner and frankly I'm always the first to die. Usually a party can hold it together until the main healer dies. I've played in the nest and when there was a train at the door, I had enough MP to cast sneak on the tank and when he got out I was dead. This "Tank always dies" stuff is bull pucky. Don't harp on mages for gear that gives them no defense because we're trying to get more MP to keep the tanks alive. I have the defense of a flea but MP out the wazoo.

If the mage stops curing you stop voking? Chances are that's not really going to work because usually the only reason I'll stop curing is because I'm being hit and the tank is just standing there. Tanks and mages need to work together in order to make an effective party. YES you should be taking more hits than me because I get killed in 3 hits and you can last 10. I will cure the crap out of you but if the mob turns and comes after me I'll stop because I don't want to add to the hate you can't allready manage. Granted this is normal curing - not spamming Cure III every 3 seconds.

Yes there are a lot of shitty mages out there, but there are a lot of really bad tanks. Tanks that have no good gear on and frankly people are a lot more forgiving to a tank in bad gear than a whm without protectra. It's your job to keep your Def as high as it can be so that I don't have to spam Cure III to keep you're un-equipped ass alive.

And please don't start with this PS2 vs. PC argument, it's been brought up 5 bazgillion times on these flameboards. Frankly what platform you play on doesn't really matter as long as you do your job. Yes, PS2'ers are capable of playing their jobs just as much as PC'ers....
