Hello, my name is Jender, and I am a PS2er...and a BADASS. I believe that I am a kickass RDM and BLM - and that has nothing to do with my platform, but DOES have to do with thte fact that I read up on my jobs, and buy spells/armor accordingly. I am also a very generous player, and fun to party with.

/Jender sticks her tongue out and strokes her fine PS2 while sitting on her comfy couch while playing FFXI on her big tv rather than little monitor

That is all. ;) <3

Oy, I don't doubt that there are competent PS2 Players, but if you tell me, that statistically speaking a PS2 Player has more Online Experience than a PC Player then you are incorrect.
The PC, and thus MORE Owners has been online LONGER, hence the AVERAGE PC PLayer will have better online etiquette than the AVERAGE PS2 Player. I just usually direct Rants at those PS2 Kiddies that:
a. Have NEVER before played online, I don't count Diablo 2
b. Don't know how to Play online
c. Don't care to know how to play online, because they think Diablo 2 is an MMO.

Example:

A: *blind invites*
B: *declines*
A: * blind Invites*
B: *declines*
A: *blind invites*
B: *accepts* You do know that blind invites are considered rude ?
A: i tught u ware a Wtm lol
B: *kicks from Party*

or this one:

A: *blind invites*
B: *accepts*
A: *doesn't reply, continues soloing in LaTheine*
B: Why did you invite me ?
A: *doesn't answer for 10 minutes*
B: *disbands*
A: *blind invites*

And I can guarantee you, 9 times out of 10, this is not a High Rank or High Level. This is a PS2bie who bought FF and wonders how yyou buy Armor in this Game and why all these NPC's are walking around and talk so much even when you don't select them.

Argue with me on these Stats, come on. Prove to me that the AVERAGE PS2 Player has any significant MMO Experience. I know EQOA didn't exactly fly off the Shelves.

Wow, so you're saying that it's ok to make the general assumption that players are bad because statistically speaking they have less experience than PC players?

If so, then you should have no problem with a shopkeeper that carefully watches any minority that comes into their store, because statistically if a minority comes into their store there's a greater chance that they will shoplift than if a white person comes into their store.

You're saying that every person in a group should be treated based on how the average member of that group acts.

By the way, the average PS2 player does have previous experience on the internet, not too many people get an internet connection just for FFXI. The fact that they have an internet connection means they probably have some online experience.

If you truely were directing this rant at bad players in general you would not have mentioned PS2 players at all. You would have said noobs or something. The fact that you said "ps2bies" means you obviously have a serious dislike for PS2 players, which doesn't appear to be for any valid reason. (actually there is never a valid reason to generally dislike a group of people based on a factor they have no control over)

So how do you feel about PCers who have never played an online game before? You failed to mention that anywhere.

The PS2 version has been out for so long now that the time gap between the PC and PS2 release really means nothing, except a few levels.

Lol, Well ontop of mages being 39% invincible those damn thf's my god I go into a battle and come out of a battle with 0 dmg taken (can prove it on log parser) except when it comes to any mob with a AoE

I'll reword it for you:

BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH

BTW, Ellah, I just dealt with this problem tonight. Mages seem to think that equipment isn't necessary. ;_;

Died FIVE FUCKING TIMES (twice from the same damn mob, died, homepointed, died again) till Palum came along, raised me, and kept me healed till I levelled.

If you're picking up mages for defense rather than armor that increses stats you're going to end up with some piss poor mages. When I look at armor the last thing I'm shopping around for is DEF....MND, INT, MP, elemental Resistance etc come first. [/b]

P.S. MY tiny monitor is teh sux0rz

First your statistic assumes the PS2 Player doesn’t have or play PC Games. Wrong. I own 7 PCs.

Second, Everquest was not the first MMO Game out. MUD’s on Unix Systems and BBS Door Games where the first style MMO’s. Yes, there was an Internet and online services before we had Graphics.

Third, you assume because a person is playing on PS2, they must be some young kid. I am 27 years old.

I have played with crappy players. They where crappy because they do not understand the math involved in the game. They do not understand how the party system works. They do not have a general understanding of each job. Or they do know all theses things, but do not understand them. And finally they do not want to learn any of this.

Theses people have been on PC and PS2. Theses people have been young teenagers and people my age.

Correct you are, discrimination solely on Platform is wrong.
But I can well understand a Shopkeeper who closely watches 7 Young Minority Males stepping out of a BMW that Approach his Shop with their Hands in their oversized Pockets.
Honestly, by Ps2bies I mean your "brb, mom tuld me2 bring teh trsh aut - But I was Pulling !" Players. not those where noone notices a Difference, and noone really cares either.
I mean the 13 Years Olds who want to Play a male Elvaan Melee RDM "cuz tey Solo weymore and all Mitra r Fags". I don't mean the Mature Audience, I mean the little Kids who cram the most LEVELLEVELLEVEL Time into their 1 Hour a Day Ps2 Time, so they can go to their Friends and say I got to 75 in 4 Months, that Game was way short.

And there is no Way you can tell me that this isn't the Case with 50% of the People who play FFXI. I am NOT talking about someone who has the Real desire to make the best out of this Game for Everyone. I am tlaking about all those that DON'T. And sadly that is the Case with those particular PS2bies that I speak of.

I get included in Statistics alot, and sometimes I don't. Don't take Staistics Personal. If you are a Young <minority> Male don't get offended because a Statistic about you comes out. Because if you aren't included in that statistic for whatever Reason, obviously, it doesn't inlude you, oder ?

Most of the 13 year olds I know in the game are playing on PC, not PS2. That BMW they are driving, bought by their mommies and daddies that give them anything they ask for, including a nice high end computer. But that is not a fair generalization, since some of the 13 year olds I know you would never know and on the other hand, I know some people in there mid to late 20s, I would say where 13 hormonal driving drip shits. (Which I could say statically, my generation cares nothing more than getting drunk and high, and where they are getting laid next, but that really would not be true).

Several of my friends who are playing FFXI, have been playing it since the PC release, even back then still had all the complaints you have. The crappy players where there then too, as they are here now, we just have even more of them with 2 Platforms, and 3 regions of the world playing the game. They are there in every online game, MMO, First Person Shooters, all of them.

I stopped playing Americas Army simple because it was invaded by stupid players that had no clue how to work as a team. Though it was funny to shoot team members and finally just ended up cheating using Auto Aim Bots. It seems the more popular a game gets, the more crappy players join it, for what ever reason and all of them where on PC.

Proud PS2 player as are most of my mature LS mates. :D

Hey, I'm a male Elvaan RDM....and I asked first if I could melee, because well, I have always enjoyed having the ability to cast spells and support people and myself and melee at the same time, i've done so in many MMO's...

However, i've noticed that melee's die 500% more than mages, but i'm fine with that, yeah so what if i only level twice in one day, I usually stay alive longer than a mage that says "We can take it!" as 4 of the other's are dead, goblin is at 75% HP, and the mage is a BLM...yeah umm no...so they die, i zone and live...

I agree a lot on that Melee's and Mages have a mutual relationship, however, we die more because well, we are right there, provoking it when it runs for a mage, and sometimes they hit hard and you die fast...

You know what pisses me off though, is that I hear from a lot of people saying like "Oh, your a mage, you can go to Garlaige at 32, but hey you! your a melee you can't go until 33!" What the hell does it matter with your level!?

The reason a WHM can goto Garlaige before a SAM is that our cures and protects don't get missed or resisted. If you're too low level to be in an area as a SAM, the monsters evasion is going to be through the roof so you'll constantly miss the mob and when you do finally hit it, it will only be for 5 damage. However if I cast cure on you it's going to cure you for 30 HP no matter how high the mob we're fighting is. BLM is a bit of a different story because their nukes have a higher chance of getting resisted....

But anyway, thats why it's easier for a mage to hit a new leveling area 1 level before they are ready. However mages still have to keep it in check. If you're in an area where the mobs are hitting too hard and you dont' have Cure II or cure III people are going to die.

Oh, alright, thanks' for clarifying that for me ^^;

I can see why on the missing part... i hate missing :? And i'm elvaan...heh, ironic huh?

Sorry, this still doesn't make sense. If you don't mean PS2 players in general then don't say that. Honestly I don't care what you say you mean. When you say PS2bies you mean PS2 players because that is what you say. Therefore you are discriminating. And yes, when someone discriminates against me I take offense. If you truely don't mean PS2 players then don't say it.

By the way, this is not a statistic. That is the wrong word. What you mean is stereotype. When a mean stereotype comes out about someone they should take offense.

Oh, and if this really is a statistic I would love to see your data.

Does that mean I should be offended because "White Boys can't Dance ?". I have a Professional Title, so I consider myself above that Stereotype. "By defeating the System you are Above it", neh ?

N00b to Newbie is as PS2bie to PS2 Player.

I am pretty angry after 4 Weeks in the Dunes surrounded by "Goddamn N00bs" or Snobs, that don't invite a Rank 1 Warrior even though they have a Great Axe, Search Comment, very up to Date Armor and eat Chiefkabobs. And I see alot of "Hau du u ekwip armer ?" or "Wy sud ai use Prvke, Dat makes teh Gobln hit me 2 hard." I LOVE playing a Warrior, but if I have to suffer untolerable Incompetence every Time I strive for that "lofty goal" of Quifm Island, the anger Meter rises.

I'm back. and WHOA

Hello everyone, I logged off about 3 months ago and havent returned since then because of school. Ugh, stressful, also my internet has been down for a very long time. Anyway I'M BACK, and wow. When I logged there was alot of contraversy over "PS2bies" and PC gamers. Most if not all of my friends (wich I can see most of you are all still here) know that I am a PS2 player. No, I don't play PS2 because I am a thirteen year old pimple faced brat with alot of money. I have an extreamly good computer that could play FFXI like it was running Pong, but I chose my PS2 because I can eat nachos on my leather couch with my wireless controller on my fairly big TV. I knew there was still going to be some contraversy but this is a load of BS. It's disgusting. Who in hell cares what system you play. When I first logged on, people though I was a PC gamer and I thought I would go along with it. After a couple months I revealed that I was "PS2bie" and no one cared one bit. You know why? Because I don't act immature. Then the next day our LS leader get left alone because all of the members left because he was a level 70 DRK/BLM who talked like the "PS2bies" you are talking about. I am now thinking if I should even come back to FFXI, I mean really, who gives a flyin fu*k what system you play, as long as you are respectful, polite, and do you're job moderatly well. I mean you don't have to be an expert, I am always willing to help out a new player to FFXI. I have met plenty new players that have just started out that work better with everyone and are respectful of everyone than some prick who thinks just becuse he is a level 75 he thinks he owns the damn game. I say down with the system contraversy and play this awsome game and enjoy yourself. As long as you arent annoying and immature, PC or PS2 you're good in my book. (oh and by the way N00B and Newbie, yeah those terms are fu*ked up, just say "begginer" or "new player" really, grow up). Also to all of my friends and former PT members. I'M BACK!!. Should be back up playing this addicting game in a week or so. Happy gaming to all. :D :P

Jender and I didn't seem to get stuck in a party of Noobs, when we leveled our sub-jobs together. Minus one member, who was clearly new to the game, the party did quite well. We pulled around 72 to 150 exp a kill, with exp chains from 1 to 3 (Most new players do not even know EXP Chains exist at that point). Nothing to write home about, but no body died and we all leveled, everyone had a good time (Jender actually keep her Robe on, damn shame). I am honestly starting to wonder if you are not pushing your parties too hard. The dunes is a low level area, it has Noobs and newbie’s in it that is the point. This is where we all learned to play the game at. It dose not matter you are rank 10 with 2 level 75 jobs. When you are in the dunes, you have to stop playing the game as if you where in a party of level 75 players. Can you achieve better exp than the very first time you where in the dunes. Yes. Can you pull a constant exp chain 6 on all IT’s. Very unlikely unless everyone in the party is a high level player that has learned theses skills. You are invading their space, not the other way around.

You also know there are other chooses you can make. Arrange leveling times with knowledgeable players, having just a few knowledgeable players can turn a bad party into a decent one. We all have sub-jobs that need to be leveled. Choose other leveling zones; there are a lot of other places to level. If you run into an “Ib L33t HaX0R”, drop from the party before it gets started. I personally have yet to actually party with a person talking like that, but I’ve seen it in shout, so yea I know it exists, but I would still drop the moment I see it in a party chat (Well after I bug the guy with a bunch of Huh! First).

So you are 100% positive these were PS2 players? You asked them?

If you are not trying to stereotype PS2 players, why say PS2bie? You seem to be avoiding that question. Once again I ask, why not say noob rather than ps2bie?

You are Correct.
Down with the Prejudice, now will someone Rank 3+ PLEASE INVITE ME ? Nope, I am a lowly Rank 1.

But, heres some more History on the Shaping of the Anger.
The kind of Player you mention is hard to come by these Days. Because of Several Reasons:
During the PS2 Rush, Helpful Members were overrun with new Players. The "Flow" of new Players was too large and steady, one simply couldn't help them all, much less take them all under one's Wing, much less Guide them, so one started doing Quick Fixes.
But this did not Lead to Newbies feeling unguided by the Higher Level's, which caused some behavior to become acceptable, such as asking for Gil, Spamming, expecting Handouts, etc. Then the Higher Level Palyers saw their Mistake and ceased giving out Gil, giving out Equipment and started berating Newbies which spammed. Promptly the Term "Level Snob" was born. So, the Rift between the two "Level Zones" became broader. Considering that most PC Players were the upper Level area and the new PS2 Players were in the Lower Area, The Ps2bies and the PC's started growing apart.

Now, you ask: How does this affect the Player who posts such mean and evil Things ?
Ok, I was ,when the Rift happened, in the "Grey Area" the higher PS2bies and the Lower PC's mixed alot, because, well they were at the Same Range. So I continued Leveling with a very mixed Crowd. Then i decided ...
Lets make a new Character. because my Taru Mage really isn't as entertaining as before.
I made a Mithra, with the Intent of becoming a Warrior/Thf using a Great Axe. I restarted and what did I see when I started playing ?

A: D00d, did u start over ?
B: Yes I did.
A: y
B: huh ?
A: y
B: oooh, why ? because I didn't like playing my Mage anymore.
A: Can u give me some Gilz ?
B: No, but I can show you where to make some yourself.
A: *walks off*

or this one:

A: /shout Level 8 Warrior seeking Mage to Duo with.
B: U N00b, u don't party at dis Lvl, lmao N00b
A: /shout Level 8 Warrior seeking ONE Mage to gain Quicker XP than Solo.
B: STFU N00b, u don't party at this Level. U have to Solo 2 10
A: /blacklist A

how about this one ?

A: *gets invited to party*
B: U thief ?
A: Uuuh, yes, i thought you checked me before you invited me, and why are you /anon ?
B: U talk 2 much. U are tank, whm is Nuker and I am Healer.
A: What is your Job ?
B: I are /anon for a Reason.
A: What is your Job ?
B: War/Whm, y ?
A: *disbands*

When did this Happen ? How did this Happen ? This is a serious Question on my end. How did this Happen ? Please someone answer it for me, because I am Lost.

Cant go to Garlaige at 32? Damn I must have been going crazy cause I went at 31. And I was a Ranger....perhaps that is why...

Eh this has been beaten to death. I play on PS2 and I have come to accept that were gonna get bashed. Thing is they sure as hell arent bashing me because, well, if you have partied with me you know. You guys know if you are good, so just deal with the label and make the best of it.

And to respond, have you ever looked at a group of white guys dancing? I mean seriously, feet rooted to the floor, nothing doing at all. That just makes it better for me when I walk into a club and start my shit. That Pop-n-Lock with a lil C-Walking into the mix, for some reason girls seem to enjoy that. If that makes me part of an elite group of white males, I won't argue ^^ But seriously, how many white girls can dance for that matter. They dont have to know much, run your hands through your hair and wiggle them hips. Presto good dancing... Clearly off the point, but had to be said.

Hehe, I consider "Club Dancing" ,as hard as it may be, jumping around. I guess they Breed that into you at the Dance Schools.

My Favorites where always the Mobile Dances like Samba, DiscoFox, Tango or Rumba. This Club Dancing .. I tried once or twice, and I am the First to admit: I can't do it. It somehow doesn't work. Give me a Good Partner and a 4/4 Beat though and I can cut you some Rug 8)
