My cat, whom is about two months younger than me (he's 18 as of December), is dying....and....well, it totally sucks. Dunno what to really do....I've had him all my life, and to just see him laying around the house, lightly growling if he's touched by anyone/bumps into anything....
It's just....crappy..

Yeah, that does suck. I had a cat just like that. Got him when I was 6 and he lived till I was 26. The end started the same way. He just kinda started laying around and seemed brittle because if someone tried to touch him in anyway, he would growl. That went on for 2 years before he passed quietly in his sleep. Im sorry for your loss.

; ; Im sorry to hear that. I never had a pet other than birds so I cant say I understand your pain. But ; ; goodluck coping with it ; ;

Make him as happy as you can. Pet him lots, give him treats. There was a cat we had, that was older than me when he died of throat cancer at 17, and it was a very sobering experience. As I said, do your best to make him happy, pet him, tell him you love him, and give him treats. That's the best I can suggest, and I hope it's not to hard on you.

edit: That sounded a little wrong, what I meant was, I hope you'll be alright when the inevitable happens, losing a pet can be a very hard experince, I lost a gerbil I was very attatched to last year, and even though gerbils arn't "as much a part of the family" as cats are, it was a very hard time. Just keep in mind to remember all the wonderful times you had with him, and not dwell on his death when it happens.

Sorry to hear that. I've had to go through quite a bit of pain when it comes to pets. :cry: I've 2 cats hit by cars(one we found still alive and brought him to a vet.. but it was no good :cry: ), and only a few months ago my own cat(or the one that I liked the best) went away and simply never came back. Now there's only 1 cat left... and she's now 13. Hopefully she'll stick around a while longer.

Like Kipsy said, give him treats and attention. Make him enjoy the time he has left. Hope you get through everything all right.^^

aww T.T poor kitty...

Aww. Sorry about that. I know how loosing a pet is. I had 2 cats, a mother and one of her kittens. We eventually had to put the mother to sleep =/ She got blind and started falling of little steps and such ; ; it got really bad. Now her daughter's all old too. SHes not in such a worse shape as her mother was yet, but /cry.

Sorry about your cat ; ;

Sorry to hear that... :cry: my parents got 2 kittens a few weeks before i was born. when i was 12 we moved from NJ to FL and the vet said neither could handle the stress of the trip so my parents had them put to sleep, I cried for weeks and wouldn't talk to my parents for a while lol. Pets give unconditional love without asking for anything but some food and a little attention. its hard when they go, but it's nice to have the memories of such a good friend :D

I'm sorry to hear about your loss Mish. I lost my dog this past June after 15 years of having him. He had been having hip problems and had just lost the spirit that he always had, so I suppose it was for the best that he passed and didnt have to hurt anymore. I just wish I could have been home when he went. It's going to hurt. I still expected him to meet me at the door for a couple weeks after he died. But it's like others have said, you need to remember all the fun you had together and hold onto that. That way, even after he passes, he wont really be gone.

Losing a family member sucks, and that is just what pets are, family members. I lost my cat, Loco, about half a year ago. He was only five years old. One Sunday, he got sick, and the next morning I was going to take him to the vet. I found that he has passed away in his sleep.

I'm 6'2, and 250 pounds, and I cried like a little girl for several days. He was by far the coolest cat I ever knew.

R.I.P.

Aw. I'm sorry Mish.

I had my dog since I was 2 years old and a year ago, he got really sick. Started pooping in the house because he couldn't hold it(which he had NEVER done.. not even as a puppy so he got really scared when it happened). Not too long after, he blood was coming out with the poop. We took him to the vet and they kept him for a few days. They said he had bones in his stomach that was cutting him up and stomach cancer. We had no clue how the bones got there. He didn't kill other things and we never gave him any. Not even rawhides. Needless to say, we had to put him to sleep. I refused to leave my bed except to use the restroom or talk to anyone for 2 weeks. I just laid there and cried.

I know how hard it is. But when he does pass away, think about how he is pain-free now and happy. Think about all the happy times you had with him. The silly things he did to make you laugh. Never think about the bad. That's the only thing that slipped me out of my "depressed coma". It's going to take a while to get over, I know. If you need someone to talk to, we're all here for you. Again, I'm so sorry. I wish there was more I could do but that's not likely from here. :cry:
