What Anime/Manga are you Reading/Watching? Part the Second!

Man I love catching the latest Kenichi manga each Friday and love reading it but dammit.. They go by so fast when nearly the whole chapter is combat.

Kenichi - For all your bad-ass martial arts and ecchi needs.

And I enjoy Deadman Wonderland, she takes a damn long time to put out a chapter but when she does it's one hell of a chapter.

Shingeki no Kyojin <3 friend got me into this anime/manga, man I freaking love it.

Well.. a few of the new anime's I've been keeping up with weekly have ended.

Red Data Girl: I enjoyed the anime. I suppose if I had to put it in a category it might be considered Spiritual/Drama and by spiritual I don't mean religious, I mean it deals with spirits and other Japanese hocus pocus. The only problem I have with this anime was that it didn't really seem to have a set story to it. Essentially it was just all about the girl, which isn't bad that much because each episode was still very interesting. However, this anime ends in a way that I greatly dislike anime ending... no real conclusive ending, and there is still a lot more that can be done with the characters and story as.. it just kinda would continue. But the anime is done.

Date-A-Live: Basically another version of your "Harem" anime. But I really enjoyed this title, even if it kind of had a silly premise. I'd categorize this as a drama/action/comedy anime, because by all accounts it kind of pokes fun at he whole dating sim genre. But I found myself really liking the story and wanting to know more about why certain story elements existed. Also.. the difference in all the girl's characteristics and interactions with the main male protagonist. The action scenes were pretty awesome, the comedy was quite funny and fitting. It was just a definite fun anime to watch. And they've already confirmed at the end of the last episode that there will be a second season, so that's pretty cool.

I'm still keeping up with 'Karneval' and 'The Devil Is A Part-Timer!'.

Karneval: I was skeptical, even after the first two episodes, but now I find I am really wanting to see where this anime goes and how it ends. It's one of those anime that's just very visual and colorful to watch. I don't even know what to classify it as. There's action, there's some drama, there's comedy, but through it all I sense a larger plot, hopefully, taking shape. There's been some decent character development so far and I am interested in how it progresses. Staying tuned in!

The Devil is a Part-Timer!: Man.. I have nothing bad to say about this anime at all. I love it. The devil's a pretty nice guy, even if he is the Devil, lol. The characters have a great depth to them and I love how all of the characters have their own personality and that shows through the entire series so far. There seems to be multiple love interests going on, but there's only one that's blatantly obvious. Chi-chan <3's the hell out of the Devil. And I wonder sometimes why the Devil's character isn't head over heals about her (she's got huge knockers and is all sorts of cute). This anime's been a treat to watch so far. There's not been a whole lot of actions scenes, but man, when there is.... wow. It's awesome.

Be careful with that, it is a Josei series primarily. Josei series tend to go one of two routes; it's either a more serious and heartwarming story [Usagi Drop], or it's the equivalent High School of The Dead for the ladies [that's what Karneval is].

So guys with massive junk bouncing around all over the place?

With the last episode that came out Monday the show really picked up and got a lot more serious. This is good, imo. Because I like anime that have a definite story to follow and don't feel like a collection of filler episodes.

yeah, I'm really hoping they're going to do a second season of Attack on Titan, because they're just getting going and there should only be 1 more episode this season. It wasn't announced for the summer season, so I'm hoping they'll pick it up again in the fall.

The current contract for Attack on Titan is for 25 episodes + an un-numerated amount of OVAs and such [likely tied to the friggin' ton of games releasing from it]. It's probably not listed in the Summer because it's not technically returning or new, but "still airing." It's like how Naruto and One Piece never show up on those seasonal charts. Steins;Gate and Robotics;Notes, for more recent examples, didn't show up on their next season's chart either, iirc [some shows do though]. Reason I recall them, people were worried about cop-out 12 episode quickies for the longest time like what we got from Chaos;Head. On the other hand, the problem with Attack on Titan is that the studio is having a hard time keeping staffed. Currently, they only have up to episode 14 done and apparently it's supposed to be a re-cap episode because they lack/ed [not sure which, I hope the latter] the staff to do a proper episode. So in the worst case, we'll have another Girls und Panzer, a show which is really friggin' popular [somehow in this case, I can't stand this show], but for some reason can't make deadlines.

That makes sense, about the season chart.

I'm glad they're going to do a full run for attack on titan, but that blows for episode 14. I'm already annoyed with episode 12 from last week, where literally NOTHING happened. They ended the episode pretty much right where 11 left off.

So wait, is Gantz over? :O Kinda a "meh" ending imo.

Hmm, Well I just recently started watching a few new series:

High School DxD (currently watching the first season, though I accidentally started by watching half the first episode of the second season, not realizing it was the second season) - What can I say? It's got devils, fallen angels, magic, swords and breasts.. lots and lots of breasts. Works for me. The only thing I don't like is that it seems Funimation's censored it.. and that's not cool. I'd like to see my naked hot anime chicks actually naked, tyvm. Unless this is intentionally done by the animators, which I don't believe to be the case (as was the case for Air Gear), then I gotta say I don't like it so much. The animation is very good and fluid, so why not show all that off like it's suppose to be?

I mean hell, just to watch it on Hulu I've got to already enter in a "birthdate" yet there's nothing shown that actually makes that age restriction mechanic even needed (as useless and easily bypassed as it is).

Anywho, apparently there's a new second season airing, which I'll be keeping up with once I finish the first season.

Danganronpa: The Animation - This one looks pretty interesting. I'll be keeping my eye on this for sure. I never read the manga, so all I have is the basic description to go on and the first episode, so far so good.

Hyperdimension Neptunia - I don't know what to make of this one. I suppose I -might- enjoy it more if I had played the JRPG, but as it stands right now I find it a little too girly and the fan service scenes just feel so out of place, since the anime comes off as so innocent. It's like they don't realize how provocative some of the poses they're in come off as, and it's perfectly acceptable and not even shown to be all that bad. If anything it seems the characters are only mildly embarrassed (or not even) when put in those kinds of situations. Something about this just bothers me. I may continue to watch it, but not with the same sense of enjoyment I'd receive from the other two listed shows above.

for the new season, I'm watching the following:

Free! - main character is a phenomenal swimmer, a rival/friend from his childhood returns after training for the last few years and creates tension. I'm enjoying it, although the protagonist's odd habit of stripping whenever he gets near a body of water, no matter the size.

Blood Lad - I'm reading the manga, so I was happy to see that it's become an anime. It's an interesting grouping of character tropes, mixed with some gag humor.

Danganronpa: The Animation - I'm with Ecks, I'm definitely interested in this one. I'm curious about any similarities to the Doubt manga I read a few years ago.

Hyperdimension Neptunia - I played a little bit of the game, but I didn't get very far before I put it aside for other games. I was hoping the anime would follow the plot of the game, so I could still go through the story; but after the first episode, I don't think it will follow the game at all. I might drop this if it's just going to be a dumb anime.

Stella Women's Academy, High School Division Class C³ - I've downloaded this, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. It looks like it could be interesting based on the synopsis, but I haven't had a chance to check it out.

So.. Deadman Wonderland finally finished up. ...While the ending wasn't bad, I guess, I didn't like it. Meh. Could have been better.

Now that I've watched a little more, I can update with the new shows of the season:

Free! - I don't know why I enjoy these sports-related anime so much, there's no super powers or special swimming techniques or anything, but it's just really interesting. There's a ton of female fan service(guys barely wear clothes, and one female keeps ogling them), and I'm tempted to say it's almost a yaoi given how some of the characters act, but so far there hasn't been anything really overt. Still, it's been enjoyable show.

Stella Women's Academy, High School Division Class C³ - Girl goes to a new school, she's trying to live a different life than before, not sure why other than she seems really shy. She ends up joining the survival games club, where they imagine scenarios and go shoot each other with airsoft guns. She's a little different in that her imagination seems to take over during the games, so instead of wearing her school uniform with some pads over it, she imagines that she's in full army camo using a real gun. This somehow makes her really good at the survival games.

Just worked my way through Sword Art Online, which was... pretty damned bittersweet for me personally, but definitely a good show. I'd been avoiding it for a few reasons, but I think I'm glad I watched it?

Also finally got around to the third Evangelion movie which was... borderline incomprehensible. I mean, I followed the story easily enough, but it's just intentionally confusing.

Trying to decide what in my enormous backlog to watch next...

Nice Raes, I actually finally got around to watching both seasons of SAO probably 2-3 weeks ago. Definitely enjoyed it.

I kinda stopped watching Hyperdimension Neptunia just because it wasn't that good, I might pick up where I left off because the useless sister characters were finally starting to not be so useless. Meh.

Recently watched Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko, aka. The "Hentia" Prince of Stony Cat. I thought with a name like that, it would be some kind of ecchi anime or something but turned out it's not at all. And it also turns out, it was a pretty decent anime and more deep than I would have guessed just based off the title. It's a bit of a romantic comedy drama all wrapped up in one interesting 12 episode package. Was a good show for something I just randomly picked out.

Yeah, I did Suisei no Gargantia, Valvrave, Shingeki no Kyojin, and now SOA, but I'm not sure what to watch next. I've got a crapload of stuff I've never touched on my drive, largely because I downloaded it for someone else lol.
