What Anime/Manga are you Reading/Watching? Part the Second!

They've condensed psycho pass for the summer season because the fall season is going to continue the story with season 2.

So far from this season I've been watching:

Tokyo Ghoul
Tokyo ESP
Rail Wars
sword art online 2
aldnoah zero
akame ga kill!
Persona 4 the golden animation(kinda like psycho pass 2, really, just only with a new character that wasn't in the original show/game)
Zankyou no terror - I've only seen the first episode, so I'm not entirely sold on it, but it was interesting

I'm also watching Tokyo Ghoul, Tokyo ESP, Rail Wars, SAO2, and Zankyou no terror. So far, really liking all of them.

Zankyou no terror actually seems to be pretty interesting. I feel bad for that girl though..

One of my brothers has told me a little about akame ga kill!, I might check that out. I always forget what it's called though so that's one of the reasons I haven't yet watched any of it.

I'm watching Aldnoah Zero myself. Wasn't sure if I'd like it after the first episode, but it seems to be growing on me.

Yeah, I'm enjoying aldnoah zero, it's refreshing that the kids that are doing well in military fights were at least in training on how to use the military mobile suits before the war started. And it seems like they're just being creative about how they go about things, rather than one of them has an invincible mobile suit. Sadly a rarity in the mecha genre.

Well, it took a few weeks but I finally finished watching A Certain Magical Index, A Certain Scientific RailGun, A Certain Scientific RailGun S, and A Certain Magical Index II, in that order. (also known as Toaru Majutsu no Index, and Toaru Kagaku no Railgun)

I really enjoyed this series, because lets face it, though there are 2 different series names it's all the same world and the stories even overlap. I hope that A Certain Scientific Accelerator get's turned into an anime as well, because the final Index II anime pretty much leaves off in such a way that Accelerator looks like he would be the main focus. I dunno why, but I like that dude.. he's batshit crazy. That voice.. like nails on a chalkboard when he's excited, but at the same time I like it.

I know Touma pretty much punches everything, but jesus.. in Index II 90% of the bad guys were women/girls and he does not hold back punching chicks, at all. First time he punched the crap out of a girl I was like "O_O what?!" since he really didn't seem like the kind of guy that would hit girls in Index I or even in either of the RailGun series, but Index II.... hide yo wife, hide yo kids.

Life lessons learned from Touma: Tackle your problems head on and PUNCH THEM RIGHT IN THE GODDAMN FACE!!!

By the time he punched the crap out of the third girl bad guy It became more funny to watch than anything.

All in all I really like the world building that's done with these series and quite frankly I would like to see more.

Maaaan, I only read a few Manga but it seems like 2 of them will be ending soon or relatively soon.

Naruto appears to be on the home stretch, and History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi quite literally has 1 chapter left to go. Sad day.

In anime, finished up the first season of Maken-Ki! and it was alright. Lot's action, lots of fan-service, decent comedy aspects. Story felt like they tried, but didn't quite fit anything solid into those 12 episodes. I mean, there was some potential build up, but by the final episode it was like none of that build up really mattered. The main male character get's his "Maken" device somewhere around episode 8 or 9 but never even uses it. There were a few things that were left out like that, and that kinda bugs me. However, aside from the plot holes, the only other thing that kinda bugged me was a lot of the fan service. Now, I enjoy fan service, sure, but this anime just felt like it was trying too hard the throw that fan service out there. From awkward angles to random gusts of wind that only affect a particular female character's skirt, yeah.. it was more or less shoved down your throat rather than being subtle about it. Not as bad as Queen's Blade.. but still, mighty close.

Even so, it was a relatively enjoyable anime, and I've certainly seen far worse anime. The action and comedy of the show made up for it's lacking areas. Think I'll check out the OVA and extras episodes, then watch the second season and hope it adds more to the already evident but not explored plots.

Aldnoah Zero has managed to surprise me at least twice now. That's... really unusual lol.

History's strongest disciple kenichi is ending? I loved the manga, but my progress on it got lost a few months ago when my manga reader extension got killed. Did it get canceled, or are they just at the end of the story?

Yeeep. Sadly. Well, they have reached the end of a story arc. But honestly it didn't seem like a real ending. While some bad stuff happens that is taken care of, there are still a lot of little unresolved things with many characters. They really could continue the story honestly. If I'm not mistaken the manga writer for Kenichi is a female and I believe it was some time ago she took a break because of pregnancy (though I could be confusing this with another manga, im not sure). It may be that she's decided to end it and this is her way of wrapping things up. Honestly, don't know.

It doesn't feel like a cancellation, definitely feels like they are just ending the story, but it still doesn't feel complete, sadly.

I'd rather they end it at the completion of the story arc instead of keep just going until the series got really dumb, like bleach or naruto.

Oh man. Just read the last chapter of Kenichi. Oh man, the chapter before it I wasn't quite feeling the ending to the story arc, it felt kinda sudden to me and a little forced. But this last chapter was pretty good. The last page wraps up pretty much everything, I even got a little tingly and the feels. Good stuff.

So again. Aldnoah Zero. Did not see that coming.

Also: Dicks. Making me wait until January for more episodes.

In other news, I'm hoping Gundam: G no Reconguista won't suck. But I'm kinda expecting it to.

Yeah, was rather surprised by Aldnoah.Zero

So, Zankyou no Terror and Glasslip both ended today.

I kinda came away with the same feeling from both of them, even though they are completely different animes. Essentially, I enjoyed but at the same time didn't like the way they both ended.

For Zankyou no Terror, it's like they did all the stuff they did but in the end I was ultimately left with the impression that nothing really had changed that much (even though I would consider what happened to be a fairly major event).

For Glasslip what can I say. I really am not a fan of endings that leave you guessing, or hint at something yet show scenes/fact that would hint at something else.

I like closure, finality, endings that actually end with no loose strings. Or at least you have a good idea of what happens to the characters after the show ends to some extent.

Well, you don't really get that with either of these (to an extent, I mean.. Zankyou no Terror was ...pretty final).

Oh well, I'm hoping they don't do a cop-out in Akame ga Kill! but considering the manga is still ongoing and isn't terribly far ahead of the anime, it will probably cut after the next big encounter. Maybe in a year we'll see another season/continuation.

Same thing goes for Tokyo Ghoul. Though I'm hoping this anime has a longer schedule, it would seem like it might have reached a near stopping point in the last episode... but I really hope this is only the middle part and it continues for a full 24-26 episode series. Dunno though, I'm just hoping. Kaneki finally stopped being such a whiny bitch.

Oh yeah, Captain Earth ended last week. That was an enjoyable show. I just wish the very end scene was a bit more... conclusive. That said it was a really good anime, very well animated and generally a fun watch.

Also still watching Tokyo ESP, but I think it's going to be on the last episode too on the next airing. That one's been pretty cool to watch as well.

Yeah, I was surprised that the Fall season has already started. I saw terra formar on horriblesubs, which is one of the new shows.

I haven't seen the finale of zankyou no terror, but I'll probably watch it tonight.

For the new season I'm interested in:

Psycho-pass season 2
Log Horizon Season 2
Hitsugi No Chaika season 2
trinity 7
World trigger
Madan no Ou to Vanadis

Akame ga kill is apparently continuing on into the fall season, which is good as I rather like the show and they haven't come close to somewhere to end it.

I REALLY hope they will have a second season of aldnoah.zero, the show was amazing for a mecha, finally they would do well because the guy was smart and creative, rather than had the unbeatable mobile suit. **EDIT** YES, it's coming in the winter season!

Hmm cool. Yeah, I caught the first episode of Terra Formars. Interesting. Animation style reminds me of Blue Gender, and from what I can gather it seems like it will be a bit of a space horror/survival though... I gotta admit, the Cockroach monsters are a really freaking weird ass concept. Hundreds of thousands of years on Earth and they remain largely the same, but put 'em on Mars and holy shit they mutated like a motherf*cker in a relatively short amount of time in comparison. And then there's well, whatever the hell is going on with these mutated humans. I really hope the story sheds a bit more light on how exactly that came about.

I'm looking forward to Psycho-Pass 2 and Log Horizon 2 as well, not really familiar with the others though.

Good to know about Akame ga Kill! I am enjoying the show, and I suppose there is enough material in the manga to reach 24-26 episodes, but even so, the manga is still ongoing so wherever they end, there will still be more story. I read the current latest chapter of the manga because I was kinda of curious as to how far ahead it might be compared to the show and apparently quite a bit does happen. The eventual and inevitable battle between Night Raid and the bad guys (current group) will probably be around where they end it, that is if that doesn't happen soon in the show. I really have no idea where or how they are going to end the anime, but knowing the manga is still ongoing means the anime is going to be leaving things off because it has no choice but to.

I think Tokyo ESP ended. Was a good show, and while the ending was okay, it's one of those "oh we're going to introduce a new plot and bad-guys but that's it for now". So maybe there will be another season, maybe it will just continue in manga form, but there's obviously more to the story.

Seems like there's going to be quite a bit of fantasy anime this season. That's awesome!

Caught the first episode of Madan no Ou to Vanadis, definitely gonna be a show I'll continue to watch. Action/Fantasy/Fan-Service, yes prz. Really lovely animation too.

Enjoyed the start to the second season of Log Horizon, looking forward to where it goes.

In Search of Lost Future (a.k.a. Ushinawareta Mirai o Motomete) - Romance, drama, mystery, slice of life, supernatural, sci-fi. <- That pretty much sums it up. I like a drama every now and then, but I also like supernatural/sci-fi stuff too. This one seems like it could be interesting.

Others I'll be checking out: Ore Twintail ni Narimasu, Garo: Honō no Kokuin, Shingeki no Bahamut Genesis, and Donten ni Warau. Those are all Fantasy/Action (though Twintails seems to be a bit of a comedy as well). Judging from the artwork on the labels/posters for them they all seems like they will have some decent animation as well.

Jebus, this season truly is overwhelmed with fantasy anime. Moreso than I thought before, I have watched about 3-5 other anime than what I had posted about previously that have all also been fantasy themed anime.

The 7 Deadly Sins. - Pretty cool, the 7 Sins are super magic knights and are badass, plus the good guys even though they sound like they'd be bad guys given the name.

Amagi Brilliant Park - reivention of a theme park with magic.

(Yet another Tenchi Muyo) Ai Tenchy Muyo! ((4 Minute episode, whaaaaaaat?!))

Akatsuki no Yona

Inou-Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de - Highschool kids suddenly discover super powers.

Also, watched Magic Kaito 1412 - Which I thought at first was some kind of spin off of Detective Conan, but though the style is similar it doesn't appear to have anything to do with Conan. Seems decent though.

Garo - after watching first episode, it looks interesting. Witches are actually good, but widely though to be evil. Though the reality is there are demons about and only Witches can destroy them.

Rage of Bahamut: Genesis - HOLY FAWKING CRAP THIS IS TOP KNOTCH ANIMATION. Geneon may have struck gold if the story ends up being as good as the animation quality. So far, so good though.

Watched the first episode of Gundam G no Reconguista.

You can definitely tell that Tomino wrote this one, given that its sprawling and largely incomprehensible. If he can tie it all in in the next few episodes it might be worth watching, I suppose.
