What are some classic rpgs for the PS1?

Honestly besides rpgs that square makes, I can't get into alot of other PS2/PS3 RPGs. I guess I liked the 2d environment, and whatnot.

I already have Chrono Trigger, but I dont have Cross. I also have Breath of Fire III, IV, and the both Lunar games.

What else is out there?

If you like Tactics-style RPGs, Vandal Hearts was decent. Alundra was a fun romp (another Working Designs package).

1 not so much as 2, but they were both good IMO.

Suikoden, Xenogears, Vagrant Story, Chrono Cross, Star Ocean, Rhapsody, Breath of Fire, Grandia, Dragon Quest, Wild Arms, Granstream Saga, Tales of Whatever, Persona (or whatever that series is called, I can't remember the other name for it).

I'm sure some of those are repeats of other posts, but I just threw everything out I could remember right now.

only 1 dragon quest came to the states for ps1 but it was the best seller in japan and even put mario in his place and that was 7.

Alundra (such a zelda rip off, but for the lolkiddies)
Lunar 1 and 2

Tactics Ogre
the list can go on and on, Most know of the final fantasy series on PS1 so im not restating the obvious.

Hell... even if you didnt like those RPGs, can always go back and make your own with RPG Maker 2

PS1 rpg's are the best games ever. Fuck this real-time bullshit they keep spewing out these days. Real-time fighting is not for rpg's, it's for action games, and I really wish square would hurry up and realize this. Just because your engines can support a more dynamic battle system now doesn't mean it's right!

SNES and PS1 are about on even footing for truly epic RPG greatness.

Parasite Eve is a Survival Horror with many RPG elements in it.

Kinda like Dirge was a shooter, but it had quite a few RPG stuff in it.
