Artistic fascism!

I simply have to be in the right mood to listen to the new Mars Volta, while I can listen to De-loused at the Comatorium all the time.

Anything they put out, however, is bound to sound more interesting than Sparta, the other band that came out of the At The Drive-In break-up. They're rather paint-by-numbers.

I still say Relationship of Command should have buried pop the way Nevermind buried hair metal.
Relationship of Command is a good one, no doubt. I've got an ATDI EP called El Gran Orgo, and it's your basic run-of-the-mill-that-just-happens-to-be-on-fire punk, none of the really great stuff like Arcarsenal and Non-Zero Possibility.

There's just some about the sound of The Mars Volta that I absolutely love. Latin not-quite-prog? Aggro Latin? Techno-salsa-groove? No label seems to stick well to them. I still maintian that Take The Veil Cerpin Taxt is one of the grooviest songs ever written, and the melody in Eunuch Provocateur gives me goosebumps. And, if you haven't check out the song Frances the Mute, on The Widow single. Why they didn't put it on the album, I'll never know.

And if you dig the crazy jam-ness of FTM, check out Omar's solo project, A Manual Dexterity.

My great prediction about With Teeth (and yes, I'm a dirty little seafaring outlaw): "Only" is going to become a smash hit, and sales of With Teeth will go through the roof. Trent will be sated by lots of money, but will never stop being a little emo bitch. And plus, The Fragile is (to me) an undisputed masterpiece, and I wouldn't have minded if he retired, citing that he has done what he had set out to do.

Currently I am at work with the following in my playlist:

Jimi Hendrix
Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble
Fleetwood Mac
and
The Eagles

Omnium Ghatherum "Years of Waste"
Darkthrone "A Blaze in the Northern Sky"
Bloodbath "Nightmare Made Flesh"
High on Fire "Blessed Black Wings"

Then after lunch it will be

Katatonia "Dance of December Souls"
October Tide "Rain Without End"
C.O.C "In the Arms of God"
Immolation "Harnessing Ruin"

Then I hope to god it's 5 O'Clock ((('A'))) or back to the top

you forgot one part.

legions of 13 yr. olds will start buying up every T-Shirt that has NIN on it.

:?

Is it ironic that I'm making fun of Trent with a line from La Mer as my location?

Edit: oh, and I "seafared," if you will, three albums last night, so these are what I'm listening to: Mudvayne - Lost and Found, Fiona Apple - When the Pawn..., Neurosis - The Eye of Every Storm.

coheed and cambria - in keeping seecrets of silent earth
modest mouse - good news for ... etc
sparta - wiretap scars
and a mix cd of the jealous sound, mcr, knapsack, ultimate fakebook, and other random sappy shit =oP

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

My No. 1 song right now is "Cells" by The Servant. A shitty band for the most part, but somehow they managed to spit out this masterpiece. I've listnened to it like 800x and I still like it. A must DL!

Flogging Molly - Within a mile of home

Or most of it anyway. The last few songs aren't wonderful.

iTunes at work set to random (last 10 tracks):

Mike Ness - "Don't Think Twice"
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes - "Science Fiction Double Feature"
The Cure - "The Hanging Garden"
Anti-Flag - "The School of Assassins"
The Clash - "London Calling"
The Cure - "The Walk"
The Cure - "The Dream"
The Cure - "Disintegration"
Alkaline Trio - "This Could Be Love"
Green Day - "American Idiot"

Work tends to put me in a Cure sort of mood, so they make up probably half my playlist there. Their "Love Song" just started playing...
