Story quests, class related quests, there's probably more that they're holding back that we just haven't thought of.

Agreed, it seems pretty redundant. They could just merge the two to have a bigger text area, though preferably keep the tabbing system which is neat. I also hope they go back to the ffxi style image for link pearls, simplify the menu a little, give a sub-menu for when you click on something (like we have in xi with chat, text, check, etc.), and impliment a system for scrolling through abilities to use during the fight with the keyboard, rather than have to use the mouse.

That last thing may actually not be a problem, but in the ~10 mins I spent walking around casting spells I couldn't find one.

Very, very little. The Collector's Edition goes on sale in 10 days. Stores will be receiving their retail boxes no later than Monday, Sept. 20th, which means that if the distributors use UPS or FedEx, which they often do for video games, the retail boxes would have to be ready to go out the door no later than Thursday, Sept. 16th. Also, there are a bunch of people brining up some quote from a massively.com interview with an SE person who mentions only 10% of the game being available; however, what people are failing to realize is in the SE rep's response the 10% figure is specifically thrown out with regards to the alpha testing. There is at leat 50% of the retail box version in the open beta if not closer to 75-80% or even more.

I really don't understand why they've literally downgraded from a lot of the good things ffxi had. Not gameplay wise, that's fine, but just party invites, searching for people, CONFIG options, and many more. But I assume as the game goes on more and more things will be fixed. So I'm not too worried about it.
