Ok what i don't get is: I get thousands upon thousands of people telling me how NIN's can't tank (until they see me keep hate to 3-4 guillotines per fight anyway) and how we all suck and should do something else blah blah blah. Now that i try to open the door for something else for NINs to do all I get is "Do you have WAR sub?" "Oh, no tank, (thanks for the offer but I'll have to pass)" "You can't tank with that combo" "we need a tank, piss off" "Oh, I just read your search comment, you don't want to tank, I thought you'd switch to WAR sub when you got invited *boots out of pt*"

A completely different gripe for another rant is: READ FREAKIN SEARCH COMMENTS BEFORE YOU INVITE & IF I WANTED TO PT WITH WAR SUBBED I WOULD FREAKIN SEEK WITH WAR SUBBED!!!

MAKE UP YOUR FREAKIN MINDS PEOPLE!!! I spend literally MILLIONS to deck myself out for NIN/WAR then I do the same for NIN/BLM cause people piss and moan about a NIN tanking for them. I do about twice as much DoT as any BLM or RNG (against the right mobs anyway) I can do two and sometimes even 3 MBs (with haste) on every freakin SC that has more than one element that it’ll go with for almost 1k dmg if not more. Show me a BLM that can do that much on a burst without using AM. I can do 150-200 dmg per spell and spam 6 of em in like 9-10 seconds. My marksmanship and throwing are capped, I use that to fill in the recast waits with an equipment change macro for my Racc and Ratk gear for some reasonably good DMG on that. Who the hell WOULDN"T want that in a PT?!?!

I don't get this. What the hell do people want from me? You tell me not to tank and when I do something just as valuable, if not more so, everyone tells me I can't DD or do anything but tank. this freakin pisses me off! I even got "You're too good a tank to do anything else" from someone else. If I want to do something else I'll damn well do something, freakin, else!

It just really pisses me off. Everyone pissing and moaning about everything I try to do with my job, and No one is freakin willing to give anything but NIN/WAR a chance even tho they say NIN/WAR sucks ass and wish that NINs would do something else.
 
NIN/BLM is cool if you can hold hate. NIN are tanks, the same way SMNs are healers. If you don't want to tank don't play NIN, same thing I tell peeps who want to be SMNs and they don't like healing...suck it up or play another class. It's your job - if you can add more flare to your job WHILE TANKING power to you!

PS: Chances are if you're pulling off that kind of damage you're tanking anway....I don't see the problem. I mean the mob is going to be so pissed at you for the amount of damage you're doing he's going to be stuck on your ass anyway. Throw in a good theif to SATA onto you and BAM you're tanking with your /blm sub.

If this was a "I can tank with a /blm sub" complaint I'd agree with you and just tell peeps to give the NIN/BLM combo a try....

It's called restraint dude, EVERY DD needs to learn the meaning of that word not just NIN/BLM or THEY end up tanking too XD

And why not tank? Difference between you getting hit after doing too much damage and say....a DRK is you have adequate tools like Ni and Ichi to keep you from getting hit, plus you're holding hate w/o provoke...what's the problem?
 
Nin/Blm are still the tanks, I think the one we've all seen with the Taru that had every HQ staff. The player described the he was Spinning the wheel (or w/e the hell you Ninja call it) like crazy and still Casting shadows so that might be something to look into.
 
Why wouldn't you want to pull hate if you have Utsu Ichi and Ni?

And I'm sorry but I find your numbers very very hard to believe. I'm a taru, I have moldevite earring and the HQ elemental staves, and I get some 100+ dmg but I also get a lot of 20s and 30s for damage on the offensive ninjutsu. Usually 3 of the 6 are useless, sometimes 4.

like I said "Against the Right mobs" Valley of Sorrows 150-175, 200 on lucky shots on raptors, Onzozo on cats 150-160 w/burn. I would VERY much suggest that you get someone to stick Burn, if there's no one else in the PT with the spell it WILL stick if you seal it every 10 mins. If you're not getting any DMG and too many resists you must be doing something wrong. Like I said I'm COMPLETELY decked out for it. The only time I really get resists is when there's another NIN in the PT.

And not @ Firestreak, the reason I'm trying not to tank is everyone TELLING me that NINs can't tank and the extreme prejudice that floats around against NIN tanks. SO I'm trying to do something new with the job that is more worthwhile and doesn't get as many annoying flames sent my way. People are so freakin hypocritical they tell me my job is a sucky tank and I should do something else and when I try to they piss and moan because I'm not tanking. that's my whole point right there. oh yeah and BTW for unbelievers a tank is a player, not a job class XD. I'm not saying that I don't like to tank, I will, and i will enjoy it. I'm just trying to do something new and go with the flow of collective prejudice against me and do something other than the job that people tell me I shouldn't try to do.
 
Is it because you might have to heal after a while, and loose mp, but hey..if you have a RDM that refreshes..that wouldn't be a big deal would it?

NINs don't use MP, they use Ninja Tools to cast ninja magic

Hold on, Marael, do you use blm magic to get hate for you?

What I'm trying to say is, do they not want her because she's gotta heal her mp to be tank and the fact that healing reduces your TP? But again, if theres a RDM and he/she refreshes you..it shouldn't be a problem right?

No she isn't using blm magic to get hate. Any blm magic she has will be half the lvl it needs to be, so it would be pointless. She is using blm to give her a int boost which affect her Ninja spells. So she is using the ninja spells for damage.. things like Raiton, Suiton... stuff like that....
 
If you're able to come close to my PLD's lvl range, I'd party with you any time.
 
yeah I use ninjitsu only, MP is not an issue. Another good reason why I should not tank is that I use mage gear in order to maximize DMG. All of my EVA VIT and DEF gear that makes it so i can avoid hits and take hits when I have to is gone. I got hit by a Raptor for 250 DMG today while pulling. W/defender, food and my tanking equipment a.) I would have evaded enough to not lose hardly any shadows and b.) the hit would ahve been more like 80-120. NIN/BLM can't take hits worth crap, just like a mage, and with Magic boosting gear rather than def and eva gear it does not make very much sense for a NIN/BLM to be tanking. that's like 3-4 hits and I'm dead and I don't evade enough to keep my shadows in place. As you can see i HAVE tried tanking with this combo and it did not work out to the benefit of myself or the PT. Sry I did not say so earlier. that may have been relevant to some of the arguments agains my rant ^^
 
All NINs die in 3 hits or less....

I die in like 1-2 hits and take a lot of hate because I"m main healing as a summoner...I don't have the HP or defense of a whm and I"m wearing a lot of HP>MP gear...does this mean I shouldn't heal just incase I pull hate with a cure III?

oops sry for hte double post internet connection issues, and NO all nins don't die in 2-3 hits. yet ANOTHER rant I have is against NINs wearing crap for equipment. Get tanking food, wear tanking gear, use Defender and you will stay alive MUCH longer. I don't understand why anyone would wear/eat anything else as a Tank. Just a lil tip there =)
