What do successful Linkshells do differently?

I've decided to try holding some LS events to get people involved. It's a spinoff of the Survivor idea. We'll all take level 1 classes and trek from Windurst to Sauramague, and onward to Beaucedine and beyond - as far as we can go. The last player alive wins. Wins what? Well, it's 1,000 gil to play, and that all goes into a pot. I'll match the pot and double it with my own savings. The winner (who won't be me, even though I'm playing too) will take home a substancial reward. I have 100,000 gil I can play with, so I can afford to cover a 30,000 gil reward for the 15 members of my LS if they all play. Nothing sparks interest like a fat wallet. If gardening tree saplings keeps working for me, I can do these events quite frequently.
