Just wanted to get some opinions on this matter so here's the story...

I left FFXI about 7-8 months ago and just came back last week. Now when i left i sent a friend(wont name names) Peacock Charm, Scorp Harness, 2x Snipers, Ocuidos Kote, Fuma Kyahan, Leaping Boots and Emp Hairpin. So i come back and see him on and shoot the breeze and so on. Then i ask about the gear. Says all thats left is the pcc, L.boots, and pin so i ask for that stuff back as i have nothing on my char. He sends me those 3 items.

Well anyway, after that i ask what he did with the rest. He says he sold it. So i ask for 4 million gil so i can get back on my feet and maybe aquire another harness and whatnot. He gets mad and says he shouldnt given me a thing back ><; So who do you think is wrong or right?

You gave him the items with out the intent of ever coming back, so I think he has the right to sell the items you gave him. :)
 
Did you tell him to just use the items until you come back, or did you give them to him? If you gave them to him with no intention of comming back, giving you a PCC, Pin and L.boots is very generous.
 
i was upset when i left, just kinda said screw this. i guess im looking at it from the way id treat this situation. But my opinion is biased >< (i would have given everything back) but like i said, biased =P
 
You should be happy he gave the PCC, Pin and LL Boots back...lol :?
 
Personally, I think he's right in a way. When you left, you gave him all that stuff, so technically it's his to do with what he wants, and that includes selling it. I'm sure that if your friend KNEW that you were gonna come back, he prolly wouldn't have sold that stuff, but idk, it's not my place to say how ppl think.
 
If i was your friend, i dont know what i would do but i would diffentely help you out, but your friend came across some luck and maybe he dosent have the gil to repay what you gave him , but i would think he could sport you 500 k and some help.
 
IMO you should be appreciative for him being a true friend and giving you that back. But you were an asshole and asked for more.

This like the little kid who gives you something then comes back and gets mad at you and tells everyone "this is mine this is mine."

You were the failure at being a friend to him for asking for more. Personally I'd blacklist you forever.

I think you are lucky you got those three items back. He isn't obligated to give you any money or even those items considering you didn't say he should keep them and give them back if you should ever return. 7-8 months is a long time. Possession is nine tenths of the law you know.

That might be a little harsh......

But ya your friend was generous enough to give you the 3 items he had remaining back. You could sell one or all of them for some profit to get back on your feet. Because 4 million gil is a little steep and seems very greedy on your part to ask for. I would have done exactly what your friend did...give you back some items and maybe throw in a couple 100k gil but I wouldnt send you all my gil (even if it was from some of your items) because you had a change of mind about rejoining the game. 7-8 months is a long time to leave and come back expecting someone to hold onto something for you. Hell, Im surprised he didnt sell it all..Which leads to the next thing...If he didnt sell the 3 items he gave you then that probably means he used them at some point and probably still does. So he basically gave you back items that he had grown used to wearing/having.
Just be happy with what you have now!!
 
Honestly, I think your friend is being generous..
What you should have done, is what happened with me. My friend was having RL problems and was leaving, unsure of his return, he gave me several items and said "Keep these until at least 3 months from now, after that, you can sell them."

I know this doesn't help you now XD but it might help someone else in the future!

Yes, you didn't really tell him to give them back when you come back or if you did. Unless you did, then sorry, I didn't see you post that.

7-8 months isnt like 7-8 days. Hell I'll be honost. After a while I WOULD get tired of waiting, cause I don't know if you plan on comming back or not.

And he still held on to some of the items and gave them back. He could've sold ALL the items. So I think you have no room to flame anyone.
 
It all depends if you said "I'm going to give you this" or "I'm going to lend you this." Personally, if it were me I'd probably return it all if we were buddies.
