Alll right. I admit, I'm high right now and I just puked over in my toilet bowl. So, we all know getting drunk is fun, but the side effects isn't so fun, so what do you all do when you don't want the side effects to kick in?

Drink a lot of water. Otherwise you'll be dried out.

There's really nothing you can do to counter the hangover though. What you can do before, is to drink white alcoholic beverages, such as Everlasting, Vodka, Gin etc. since those are more distilled. Its not the alcohol itself that gives you a hangover, its the other acids they contain. And since white drinks such as Vodka are more distilled, they don't contain the same amount of acids, thus it lowers both the chance of getting hungover, and the severeness of it. It also, naturally, depends on person-to-person. Some are more prone to getting hungover then others.

There's several "day-after" rumours to prevent, or at least not make them as bad. They range from raw-egg, to sugar-filled water. The only one I've personally found that works, is drinking lots of water, and having one, just one, drink in the morning. And preferably, a glass of water filled with sugar before going to bed. This makes it so that your blood sugar isn't as low in the morning, and also prevents your body from drying up.

Sounds tough to deal with after puking, but I like this: http://www.kefir.net/

It coats, gives energy and nutrients. I can drink more water and eat more foods after a cup of this.

greasy food is good for a hangover.

Who pukes in a toilet, seriously?

But Vitamin C will help you out a lot, and anything to keep you hydrated. Tylenol or Asprin is also good.

pro-tip: drink water sometime during the night, eg at midnight i take a break and do 2 glasses of ice water. then back to the drinking... never get the headache that way. just the upset stomach, and everyone deals with that their own way

Pop a pill of Ru-21 before drinking.

Seems to work, might be placebo, not sure but seems to work.

The one thing good about being sick is that you learn to stop or slow down drinking. I don't think the "hangover pill" stops the damage being done to your body, so using it could make things worse over the long run.

Preventing a hangover takes a multi-pronged attack. The first thing that you need to do is to eat before you start drinking. Oddly enough the greasier the better for food. Then Uzor hit it on the head if you stick with clears you will be less likely to get a hang over. From personal experience beer and tequila are typically not the friendliest the next day and those damn fruity drinks are the worst.

Then before you pass out if possible drink either gatorade or sprite to get good fluids into your body because honestly just the water is not what you are missing you are missing the electrolytes and other vitamins which make you feel dehydrated. Once you wake up more liquids and a good bread filled breakfast.

Yeah, if you mix gin vodka or any other light liquer with Gatorade as your drink you probably wont get hungover. At the end of a night chug a gatorade, pass out, piss your pants, wake up and drink water or gatorade.

When I do get hungover, the next day I pop 2 aspirin, drink a bottle of water and pass out. Couple hours later its usually gone or much less intense.

Sleep is the ultimate hangover cure, let your body handle the acids and chemicals that alcohol produces on its own.

@_@ Somebody needs to tell me that 1 glass of wine = 3 shots of liquor the next time I drink so that I won't actually try to drink 23 glasses next time in a go... bloody hell.
Did you drink red wine?

I'd understand why you had a hangover then :P And I can't imagine the hangover was anywhere near "small" either xD

I've found the best way to deal with drinking is to learn your tolerance first off. When you can hold a buzz for 3 hours without puking it's a lot more pleasant than getting wasted in under and hour and stumbling around for half an hour before puking.

Second thing is drunk food. What works best for me is eating after I'm done drinking for the night. Back in college we would find a sober person by whatever means necessary, if there wasn't one among us we would normally wake someone up at 4am or so, to drive us to the truck stop. Homemade french fries and cinammon toast were also staples of our late night drunken diet. While I was never a fan of biscuits and gravy, my roommate found out that a plate of them makes a good pillow when you're really drunk.

Make sure you sober up enough that the room isn't spinning before you go to bed, and get at least 6 hours of sleep. If the sun's going to come up before you wake up, make sure the room is dark. Nothing hurts my head more in the morning than a bright ass sun when I'm deep in sleep.
