What Filter do you normally use on your RDM or WHM?

Just curious, what types of filters other players used for their RDM and WHM. Personally, i filter most of the stuff (like damage performed by party members) so i could actually see "something" on the chatlog.

Haven't been tweaking and playing with Filter much, so... i would love to get some ideas from other RDM or WHM ;). Peace ^^v

yea you need to clear the log so that you see when your enffeblings/refresh etc wear off. You can also chage the colors of different message, for exemple a color for when your enfeeble is success and another when it fails. I didnt find out how to change the color of "effect wears off" msg :(

for WHM: OFF meaning not filtered

anything for you: OFF
Special Actions started on/by party: OFF
Effects of special actions on party: OFF
all other party: ON

Special actions started on/by foes: OFF
Effects of special actions on foes: OFF
all other foe: ON

All Ally and NPC: ON

It could be relevant to have damage taken by party on as WHM, but I generaly just watch the HP numbers in the party list rather than the chatlog.

I filter out damage taken by the party. It doesn't serve much purpose other than being able to say "Wow, I took 938 damage from that bomb!" or something.

Definitely change the colors of status ailments in your chat logs. It makes your job a lot easier.

I'm so used to reading through the spam...I honestly don't know how I could do it...

I'm a little obsessed. I HAVE to know exactly how much dmg everyone is doing, how much dmg they are taking, etc. etc.

I never needed filters as a WHM. I learned the monsters attack pattern and what 'effect' they added. I felt I graduated when I got to the Labyrinth of Onzozo, fighting Toramas. 3~4 PTs in those tunels back in the day and all doing their stuff. D=

I filter out everything except stuff for me and special actions started on / by foes /party members

Sometimes my filters go crazy and I start to wonder why I'm missing mesages some of the time and not all of the time.

Self: all off
Party: missed attacks on, others off
Ally: all on
Others: all on
Foes: missed/evaded attacks on, others off

If I can't keep up, first thing to go is party evaded attacks (usually only something I have to watch as a melee with blinks to know when to get hate off someone else, but it's handy for an attentive WHM with Flash too), then party damage dealt/foe damage taken, then foe damage dealt/party damage taken (HP levels indicate this).

Specials always stay unfiltered.

For me, it changes frequently depending on what I am doing. Be it, Dynamis, Soloing, EXP/LIM parties, Sky, NM Camping.

Typically, everything by/on (ON=Block):

ME is OFF
Party is OFF
Alliance is ON
Foes is ON
Others is ON
NPCs is OFF
Lots & Fishing/Synthesis is ON

But like I said, depending on what I am setting out to do, I will change the settings to suit my play mode.

Some people might think that with all the damage information and such I would not see the things I need to like enfeeble effects wearing off, haste, refresh and such. I am a very quick (scan) reader with the scrolling logs and overall party HP/MP. I suppose thats why I missread a lot of peoples writings.

Some of you may see from partying with me. I hardly stop casting something.^^

I seem to have about 10 timers/countdowns going on in my head at once during a fight so filtering out the unneeded parts helps me keep on top of my cycles.

i always watch the mob itself. i have all my party filters off. i just keep anything dealing with actions outseide that party on. i learded the mobs movements and what not. and in the case i miss something, crabs are sneaky bishes with that defence buff, the chat log is always there for me.

I usually have everything turned on, but on screen, and everyone else's special actions turned off. That way I can see when my spells wear/don't stick and still catch how much someone's AM II does, just cause it looks cool.

You mean you put DMG on screen instead of in log?

I, too, watch the mob itself and just start casting soon as it readies the spell. But I still leave those filters off just in case I miss something due to lag or whatever.

That makes two of us, I spend half my time in my chat log lol =(

But, I think if i was a mage, i'd probably turn the filters on.

That's the setup I have for pretty much every job I play, I'll unfilter party's damage and misses if I'm parsing, but other than that there's honestly no reason to leave the other stuff unfiltered. Definitely change the color of negative/positive effects on yourself and the party, so you can see when the mob buffs for rdm and when a party member gets hit with a debuff.

Good white mages will learn what the TP moves do, so they can remove any status effects faster(most are retarded and make you tell them though); especially when there is no mention of the effect in the chat log. Onzozo used to be a good place to see how good a whm was(very very few were on the ball with silena/paralyna) but with ToAU, no one ever goes there so more and more whm's haven't been learning to do their jobs well because the mobs aren't as difficult for them.

I remember when I was coming up on White Mage and reading with dread anticipation about the terrible hell-grind of Onzozo. Then I actually partied there and I all I could think was Wow, those guys were incompetent schmucks. I loved partying in Onzozo; those cats only have two moves.

Yeah, I'd get tired of another party's tank being paralyzed all the time and filling up my chat log so I'd toss them a paralyna or two. It was pretty sad that I could do their whm's job while keeping my party alive too.

I filter outside pt members at all times I filter damage made or taken unless I'm mbing which I need to have the damage taken to the mob on

almost everything except for stuff done by me

I'm the same way. I just filter out other parties/NPC's stuff. I see everything for my party and do pretty damn well with it, in my opinion.
