What is the appeal of Warhammer?

Seems the game doesn't have high processor requirements unless you're an intel user. Ran a benchmark program for it and passed with with flyin' colors.

"2.5 GHz Pentium 4 processor or equivalent"

My AMD 2500+ that runs at 1.83GHz gets well past a passin' grade. Was gettin' worried.

The "2500" part of that is it's equivalent speed to an Intel processor, lol.

AMD stopped listing by actual clock speed after Intel started using faster clock speeds that accomplished less work per cycle.

I kinda wonder how many WoW kiddies ironically claim that WAR is a rip off of WoW.

Far too many, although in all honesty one much admit the largely incestuous nature of post-Tolkien fantasy settings.

The thing that'll sadden me about Warhammer is when people think it's ripping off Warcract lore/races/stuff when it's the reverse :P

I meant the interface too. Since WoW's interface is a rip off of Lineage II's. Even down to containing an option to have mouse click movement.

Everything about Warcraft is pretty unoriginal except the Orcs are aliens and the Demons aren't religious parts.

Going to be really nerdy for second ^_^;

I thought the orcs' origin was from Outland or some kind of realm existing beside the regular world. I haven't played the story mode in the warcraft games in forever, but I thought that the implication in the third game was that the Proheit and Illidan were the ones who opened the portal which lead the orcs into the world the games take place on. **edit** I might be getting this confused with how the burning legion came around x_x

Sorry for the de-rail :3 I love the story behind Warcraft, even if it is a rip-off of a bunch of different things. I loved playing Arthus in WC3 and watching him fall from a hero to villian, then being able to play both parts was so cool *_*

Okay, enough of my off-topic-ness...

Go WAR!

The Orcs came from Draenor. Which after being ripped a part because of mass portal openings, was later dubbed Outland. It's in the same "realm," But Draenor, Azeroth, Argus(The Dreanei and Eredar[Corrupted Dreanei, head demons] homeplanet,) and atleast 2 othe planets within the path of the Twisting Nether, which the Legion uses to go from planet to planet. The Portal to Azeroth was opened up by Medivh and the blood of Mannoroth corrupted Gul'dan, the leader of the Horde of Draenor at the time.

Thats about where the uniqueness of the Warcraft franchise ends aside from characters. Funny enough, most of it was made up AFTER WarCraft 2. Night Elves are basically Warhammer Wood Elves with their skin turned purple and made fruity, as well.

Everyone uses ideas from everyone else. Everyone steals from everyone else. I do not know why this is news to anyone.

It's only news to the people that think GW ripped off the Tyranids from the Zerg.

WE REQUIRE MORE VESPENE GAS

I rest my case.

Wow Blizz sure do hide their blatant rip offs well.

/sarcasm. >_>

That's ok our's looks... well there's no proper number to put for how many times better it looks.

I heard the blatant Warhammer rip off in Warcraft was because GW wouldn't let Blizz make a Warhammer game? Don't know if there's any truth in it though.

The story goes that way back when, Blizzard and GW entered negotiations for Blizz to make a RTS game based on the Warhammer license. Blizz started work on it during negotiations, and GW ultimately changed their mind and pulled out, so Blizz rewrote the story and released the game anyway, calling it Warcraft.

Not particularly hard to believe, GW was pretty cagey with their licensing for a while back in those days.

They still are fussy :p. I've heard that they've been really picky about server names.
