I'm new and was just wondering what is the best subjob for DRK? Please list and describe both the advantages and disadvantages.

Im not a Drk, but im guessing there is only 3 good ones. /War /Thf and /Nin

War
Gives you double attack, Berserk, A couple of extra stat points, Provoke in the highly unlikely situation you are the only one not almost dead.

Nin
Gives you Dual wield for Axe x2 and Utsusemi. Having tonko handy saves a bit of cash on prism powders. People that know what they are doing generally don't use this one till 74 except under very specific Circumstances.

Thf
Before 60, it gets you killed a lot and makes your nin unable to hold hate. After 60, it makes you screw up the skillchain because you have to use like 4 abilities before you use your WS while trying to stick hate on your tank.

War is the most common, and in my opinion, the best sub for Drk. At 74 tho, /nin doesn't suck.

Imma mage. Take my opinions with however many grains of salt you choose

war lv 1-59
THf 60-74
nin 74-75
sam 60+ in TP gear

WAR
NIN
THF

WAR up to 60, past 60 THF is good a good sub, and despite what trippy says, you don't screw the SC up unless you're a very bad DRK and build TP extremely slow, as last resort is on a cooldown, and souleater is too... And a good DRK should know how much time he needs to activate those abilities whenever needed -.-

NIN is good past 74 for dual wielding axes for rampage.

Curiously enough, THF isn't even on the list. (Neither is BRD, BST, or RNG, but their absence isn't much of a loss as far as DRK subs.)

I should have made myself a bit more clear.

The timing is dfferent, therfore mediocre Drk can't ever get it right, and more than 50% of the time, they miss the Skillchain. It frustrating when you are a blm and a good bit of your Damage dealing capabilities depend on wether or not a SC goes off. Especially if you are trying to burst something real big and you get hate for it because your spell isn't competing for hate with a SC, then you die. Drk/thf is just irritating and I don't like it. Maybe 1/10 Drk/thf know what they are doing.

You must know some VERY bad DRKs o.O;

Moriki... what are you thinking? Whm?

Cix, Kire... Drg? Is it really worth it for Jump and an acc bonus?
drk/drg at high lv can pull off jump for 400-700ish jump lv 10 high jump lv 35
lv 70+ u can pull of stupid high stuff if u got good gear
plus was for a laugh

1-20 /war fopr voke if people in dunes want you to tank
20-29 /drg for jumps that give you extra tp /drg workes best with high delay weapons
30+ /war for zerk then attack bonus double attack ect.
60+ thf can be used but as a thf main i'm not exactly a fan of it for obvious reasons
60+ sam works in theory. not heard too much about it though.
/nin for 72+ although ive heard a couple reports of it being decent pre 72. Those reports included kracken clubs alot though. its not 74+ as people say because 74+ only add ni and hopefully any decent tank should be able to prevent you from dying if you pull hate and if you do too much damage the mob is probably dead or dying really fast anyway.

Hmmm.
10-25 or so, to be honest, /whm is good. You get more MP and can contribute to heals if you so choose. Helps when you get a Smn main heal and a War or Mnk tank.

War is the most common sub for Berserk, Double Attack, and Warcry (30, 50, 70) and is overall the very best. You have a much higher DoT than with other subs and you can still whip out a full buff WS if the mob is low on life for your built-in Drk E-peen +1.

Thf is okay 60+, but I personally think spike damage is stupid. One crazy move then 59 seconds of mediocrety does not appeal to me. But to each their own. I'd only invite a Drk/Thf (aside if no other job was seeking...) if we had no Thf or Sam/Thf for planting hate/a good SC. Especially with Nin tank.

Nin is okay for a Rampage, but only really good for roaming pt's of cannoning were yuo get hit a lot more. Even monks get stuck /nin.

WAR 1-60.
THF usually 60-73ish. . .
i do not approve of /NIN really.. tho i have done it like most end game DRKs. its more of a survivability thing with /NIN. 73-75 /WAR with Scythe is where its at.
sure the /NIN whores will come in here and Blah blah blah! but any drk /WAR in merit with scythe will out parse them lol. do lvl NIN just for certain situations.

Depends on your partys situation really. I'd say DRK/WAR 1-75 DRK/THF 60-75. Unless theres a war or someone else /war in your party for first voke dont sub thf because you probably wont be sataing your tank or youll be getting the hate which is bad. Also if your pt already has A Thf then they're porbably gonna be doing that sata or if someone else is /thf like say a sam, one of you should change which will also probably depend on the pt.

Like i said it all depends on your pt setup and once you get more into the game youll see what i mean. Your best bet is to lvl War and Thf both to 37, for sure warrior and then go from there.

EDIT: I'm not endgame yet so idk about /nin but i honesly dont think /sam is a good sub. Just to get 60tp every 3 mins doesnt seem worth the loss of double attack/berserk or sata.

Yeah, how hard is it to prep LR, SE, SA, and TA while the partner is performing his skill?

It's not like you have to prep them all at the very moment you need to use it. Hell, you have 5 seconds to close a skillchain before it becomes invalid.

/WAR will outparse /NIN, but if the rest of your party setup, and the mobs you fight, result in /NIN preventing mage-MP-downtime (or even just haste neglect) and /WAR getting you that downtime, you'll be more efficient overall with /NIN despite personally putting out wimpier numbers.

I put PUP to be funny, and I noticed someone else has my sense of cruel humor...
pre-60: WAR. Period.
post-60: THF if you're not an idiot
post-50 and need single handed weapons: NIN. SC damage is normally much more important then your "uber damage".

Guilty as charged. :(

But seriously, war 1-65, war or thf 66-73, then war or nin 74-75 only using thf for special occasions.
