What job(s) are you going for?

What job(s) are people thinking of trying out in FFXIV?

With the jobs currently listed I am thinking of leaning more towards gladiator as my main with a focus on hate management and hate control. I really enjoyed main tanking in Aion and the brief time I tanked in FFXI on my PLD.

I was also looking at maybe archer and if they release a bard-type job I may pick that up as my main over gladiator.

On the crafting side I am torn between cooking and blacksmithing.

What are you guys thinking for your mains and how are you going to spec?

You think they'll add FF type jobs? They seem to be westernizing the game alot from what I'm seeing/hearing. PS: Reya, Raes, long time no talk. How you two been?

Life's been grand, I can't complain! Been very busy recently with work and traveling. Just got back from Ireland this week XD Looking for the next thing to play and FFXIV looks like it will be very interesting. Maybe we can meet up and play on the same server, KB

This, although I got to level 60 when I was fishing in XI and wanted to break my head off the table with how low the skill ups were. I was also a 100 cook.

Thaumaturge, I think that's the rdm equivalent job, but anything mage-like first, then I may bring up a DD next and then a tank type of job. I kind of regret now not really having one of each (DD, Mage, tank) for FFXI, so I want to do that for XIV if you're able to.

Ireland, sounds like fun. Let's hope so, I've got about 5 RL friends bugging me about XIV, and some old XI friends even, so let's hope you can somewhat choose your server ala world pass or something. I'd love to be with old quetz peeps. I just hope they eventually add 360 to the mix, because I'm so not feeling the whole buying a PS3 thing, and I'm definitely too lazy to play on PC again, my 360 spoiled me. :|

Busy busy busy. Though actually this semester has been a hair more relaxed than most, just finishing up the classes I need to hit the "halfway" mark on my degree. Though technically it's a bit past halfway, more like 60%, but either way I get my Paraeducator cert this May, so that's something to look forward to. Did some traveling last summer, visited my folks in Oregon and my sister in Switzerland, and I'll probably do more of the same this year. Planning on spending a bit in California in late May, and driving down to my first actual family reunion in many years in Tennessee this June. I still need to pick a destination for a trip just for myself, but I'm having a hard time deciding. For that matter, I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to continue my education this fall, or try and work in the field as a Para for a while. The whole class thing has me a little burned out right now, and I think I need a break.

Wound up coming back to FFXI last year for various reasons, and have completed all but one of the things that I really wanted to do. And damn you Absolute Virtue. Damn you straight back to hell. Well, technically AV and PW, but PW is just a matter of time. We almost had him on our first and only attempt to date, and now that people know what they're supposed to be doing, it should be pretty straightforward. AV, however, remains... irritating. We can get him to his "bracelets" stage without significant incident most of the time now, but the Meteor spam just makes him impossible.

To elaborate a bit more on my earlier post... Anybody that knows me will probably guess, from the jobs currently released, Gladiator and Marauder, and they'd probably be right. Still entertains me that when I started FFXI, what I really wanted to be was a DRK, but I just got to enjoy tanking so much that I switched to PLD.

I'm not sure if there will really be that much in the way of "advanced" jobs in XIV though. I guess they could, but given the way they're describing the system, it seems that it would be substantially more complex to handle things that way.
