Ok, i used to be on quetzalcoatl and i played every job. Then i went to odin for a bit and i just came back to quez and am starting all over again. I can't decide what job i want to main. I like every job except WHM. So what does our fair server need more of besides WHM?

I always find myself looking for a brd.

Yes but then he would have to level whm to at least 37.

My suggestion would be to start out War til lvl 37 cuz it's a very viable sub, then once you hit 37 you'll have seen some of the jobs in action and mebbe then know what job you'd prefer to take to lvl 75 on the Quetzy server.

....

Ok i did have a 49 PLD on quetz among other jobs..and i wouldnt mind lvling WHM as a sub. But i wouldnt wanna take WHM to 75. I'd get sick of it fast. As for going BRD i think i might. BRD gets pretty good invites right? (for the people who respond "Play a job you like not one that gets invites fast" i have only this to say...I LIKE EVERY JOB EXCEPT WHM!

Seriously, do whatever job you have fun with. Not whatever job will get you to 75 the fastest. I got burnt out from the repetitivness of rdm that Ive pritty much given up on it at 70 (and yes i did beat maat).

Ermmm no he wouldn't, how about rdm? Please don't say whm is the only sub for brd. I don't want to get into any more "only the convential subs work" arguements.

LOL, Brd/Rdm. Less cures and enfeebles that still don't land, and black magic that's just as useless as when a whm/blm tries to use it. Brd/Rdm is just like smn/rdm: a second class combo for people who refuse to level a whm sub at all costs.

bard.... blm..... smn (which is like playing whm with more mp and spell gimpage for 69 levels)....

i can't stress bard enough... laugh sneer or snub as you want bards make the world go round... my bard adds 200 dmg a spell to kirin with their etudes and probably gets me 20+ extra spells in per fight because of their ballads.

As a plus i saw someone take it to 75 in about 12 days... i pl'd them(level 12, my friend was in the pt) on my main in valkurm, i exp'd as smn 28 the next day, i exp'd on my mule's monk at 44 a day later then i saw him at 75 while leveling smn again a few days down the road... he had another 75 blm pl'ing them the whole way and a semi-static with a nin and a war/nin... bard is a fast and furious, complex and difficult job and everyone loves you, most any race can play it, every party loves you.... be a bard!

I would ask youself what you wanted to do in game, not what the server needs. I have been leveling Bard as of late, and true my party invites are numerous, but if you're not going to have a good time, then what use is it having a level 75 job?

If you wanna be a support class, level WHM. If you wanna be a melee, you'll never go wrong leveling WAR. My 2 cent, K bai!

Well I know someone on one of the other servers who got bard to 70+ with rdm sub all the way. All i'm saying is i'd like to see more people using different subjobs to the norm. I love drg/rdm for parties. Hell I convinced a whole party I was /war. Then I cast a spell and they kicked me for being a "n00b whu dusnt knoe how to play".

They got brd to 70+ using rdm sub because they're a bard. People wanted a bard, and they took someone with a crappy sub because they wanted one bad enough. RDM sub offers nothing compared to WHM sub and the only people who use it are the ones who refuse to level whm for some dumb reason.

There's a difference between using a different subjob and using a poor one, somthing that most of the people who love seeing different setups seem to ignore, not necessarily yourself. There's a reason why certain combinations are the norm, namely because they are usually the best combination of jobs for exp. /RDM is good for solo and ballista, but only blm really gets any benefit from using it in exp parties. No offense, but going drg/rdm is only going to perpetuate the stereotype that all drg's are noobs and suck, since everyone expects them to sub a useful melee job.

I love it, I did it once and found it awesome. I only did this as I was farming at the time I got the pt invite, and no I wasn't lfp. Like i've said many times on various forums. Pre 30 subs really don't offer a lot to a player.

Also i've been told by every party i've had as a drg that "no one will invite me unless I sub war".

I agree with this for the most part, except the DRG/RDM is a decent sub for DRG... if you're solo'ing DRG. In an XP party, then you'll want a melee Oriented job. Also, there is nothing wrong with a WHM/RDM, but again, I can agree that it's not the 'best' set up.

Overall, I agree BRD is a good job to work throught the system. I also agree, that WAR is perhaps the most universal melee sub. It can be usefully used at any level with any melee main.

I agree I just like to try different things, i'm going to try mnk/rdm at some point, but that's when I can be bothered. Celestial Knights hey? I've seen a few of you about, mainly Prettylilthang but i've seen others aswell.

I think that the parties that are formed on the server and too ready to reject someone who has a job combination with potential...I'm sure we all would like to experiment with job combo's that we haven't really been using in EXP parties. Trying different things is excellent, it just comes down to whether other people are willing to have you in their parties. A poor subjob is a subjob that can't be used...usually the mainjob is hardly touched, except for maybe traits like STR and AGI...etc.

whm/brd FTW an increadible sub job for whm ^^

as for picking a job, you may choose one job and then turn to something completly different a lil bit down the road that you didn't even think about before. i started as rdm got board played whm got board played thf took a break crafted same thing over and over old, then i came back and decided i wanted to play blm here i am today 2 months later lol, sorry my play time has been cut to 73hrs a week ; ;, BLM73/RDM36

makes you wonder hugh? so just start with something that makes a good sub job. after leveling many characters, 7 actually :/, START WITH YOUR SUB JOB makes it so much easier. maybe after you hit 18 with say whm lvl warrior to 18. see which "way" you like best, because generally most melee jobs are like warrior and mage jobs are like whm. if you like mage more lvl your blm up to 18 and decide then if you like whm or blm better or maybe you wana go rdm next. stick with 18 as a good stoping point before switching back because that gives you room the lvl you "main sub" job to 37 and not have to worry about its subjob anymore :)

hope that helps {/cheers}

Heh glad I quit when I did lol. I wasn't quite 73hrs a week but I was pretty bad though lol :P Miss it sometimes but meh, if I come back it won't be til ToAU which is a while off anyways heh.
