So I am one level away from having my DRK to 64, then i have to wait for my navy friend to get back home (sometime this month)

Basically, i am wonder what job i should play till then.

I have SAM to 30, and i love it... but as i think about it, wouldn't it be more of the same? Long party wait times and the like?

So i was thinking a mage type job..

WHM 15
BLM 6
RDM 1
SMN 2
BRD 20
SCH 1

in a way(not sure why) i'd like to try scholar, but i dont have a sub for it. basically true with all my mage jobs.

Also, PLD is at 20.. tanking would be sort of fun... always have a spot in a party, or so i think... but is that what i want to do?

BLU is at 17... too me, it doesn't feel like a mage job, but a Melee with extra powers. But its a possibility.

I have TERRIBLE luck with BST... for some reason i cannot get it past 18....


RNG is 8... but i have always heard its expensive

Dancer is at 6... i find it interesting so far... but will it fill the void i am looking to fill?

would DNC/BRD be cool? The idea sounded neato... A singing dancer :D

Anyways, i hope someone out there can help me out.

What those two said. Samurai is an indispensable subjob for Dark Knight.


You could also skill up your lesser-used weapons; by this I mean sword, club, axe, and even great axe. It helps pass the time, and you can get in some worthwhile farming while doing so.

Did I fail to mention that Dark Knights get to use Steel Cyclone and Savage Blade at level 75?
 
it has come to my attention, that i should maybe level ninja as well... its at 20 right now.
 
yes /sam is a nice thing if you don't have nin

ecks uses it all the time, saves his ass plenty of times with hasso and seigan with evading attacks and even nice counters
 
yea finish drk subs sam nin war thf,
then if you want to lvl a mage job do brd cause it will be much easier to cap merits for your drk on brd.
 
i have war sub finished... thf is stuck at 26 (i hate it....) but i guess i will just get all my sub jobs leveled...

As for BRD, i always did kind of like brd... i just wish we could use a Great Axe (like a guitar XD)
 
Sam isn't anywhere near the most important. It's fun, but it goes the same way as /drg. Unless you are in a party that supports it and have the gear to make it worth it. Otherwise the big ones are Thf, once you get SS, and maybe War depending and what people want. Then once you get to merit party range, you will almost be exclusively going /nin. As crappy as it is, it is needed for survival after you do a guillotine.

Bard sucks dong (heresy alert!) and Dark Knights can act like the Gods of Metal by using a Great Axe. Go forth, have fun, and kill a lot of shit.

To OP: Samurai tend to get mpre parties over dark knights because they are based around skill chains and that is all you essentially do once you get Meditate at 30 is being a SC whore for the party so the black mages can burst the crap out of mobs. Seriously those were some of the best parties I had SAM (or another job to close out Fusion or Distortion) x2 BLM x 2 tank healer. Of course this can be modified, but crap just died so quickly with this set up. Red mage is the best for healing for refresh to the black mages as well as dispelling.

They are right though start getting your subjobs leveled for your dark knight.
 
its been a while since i leveled SAM, but today i did a little bit. I remember them adding Hasso and Zanshin after i stopped playing SAM

These seem like it'd be awesome to have as /sam for DRK

As well as the combo Meditate and Absorb-TP.
 
Honestly, I use my DRK pretty much all the time, and I rarely use /SAM for most cases. 90% of the time I find myself /THF for farming and /NIN for about everything else. Even though I would really like to make better use of my SAM and WAR subs, but I find it rarely applicable.

So pretty much, I agree with Makelith.(except I say down with the Great Sword and /THF!) So if you were going to lvl your subs for DRK and already have WAR lvled, the order I would do it is.

NIN>SAM>THF
 
lol. i think every bst in the world agrees with the terrible luck. sometimes bst flows smooth, then sometimes you die 6 times in a row and mischarm easy preys lol. im fairly certain i mischarmed too weaks on more on that one occasion and just stared blankly at the scree for a good minute lol


but yea just go level what you think sounds fun.. *cough bst cough*

I propose a job that uses a combination instrument and weapon stringed great axe. The job would simply be called "Awesome." Hell yes. AWS46/WAR23 LFP! BRD is great though, especially if you like merits. And hey, who doesn't like merits? ...said the Paladin with next highest job Thief, shortly before taking a trip to the corner to cry.

Id agree with this, and why you at it see which one you like the most then take that up to 75.
