What SE did to Bsts

Well this is all VERY disappointing to me. My husband and I were just planning on starting bst up as we don't have a lot of time to dedicate to the game and it would give us something to do when we had an hour or two here or there rather than spending half our time trying to put a party together.

/sigh

I always thought if a BST gets to said camp first they should have it. There's a lot of camps anyone can find. So a party shouldn't bitch just cause "that's their spot" or whatever..

And I'm still sure there are areas (plenty) where the pets and mobs you fight are well within range of each other. Surely there must be.
I hear ya Elemmire, but that's not how 90% of the folks act. What's funny is if the nerf was in place 3 days ago when I was in Crawler's Nest, I would have MPKed a couple of XP parties.

Basically, running around fighting beetles and leaving stuff as need be. Basically, another BST and me were killing everything towards the rumbler crawler camp and an xp party decided to move out a bit to get soldier's quicker... I hate to see an Exoray respawn in the middle of an XP party. >.>

Or worse a puller coming back from a long pull just to pick up a link or aggro from a respawned pet.

How this issue could've been avoided:

Instead of magical teleporting monsters, they should've used Monsters-that-don't-care-until-they-get-home, such as WoW's method.

One thing here....A BST duo is not going to have as many problems with the update as a solo BST. In a duo, you will not need to do pet swaps often, if at all. Yes, your pet will disappear when you use leave at the end of the fight and you will have to go get another one. This may affect a few camps, but it will be manageable.

The big problem with soloing is if you are moving around at all to do a pet swap, your prey is going to disappear on you.

If its really that bad, there wouldn't be Rangers anymore. Your case really sounds blown way out of proportion. The first paragraph that is. But from what I can see, it's still a popular job.
People stick around because it still does the big numbers on ws's, and because the job is still fun, if you turn off your hits and misses in the chat log.

My accuracy vs EM goobues, with sushi, fully merited marksmanship (at least before this last patch) 5 accuracy bonuses, and +63 Racc gear is around 80-85%. If you went all out on acc gear, and ate sushi, what would your melee accuracy be against an EM? I would guess it would be the close to the same as my melee accuracy, since I have that accuracy bonus. My melee accuracy is well above my ranged accuracy, makes sense for a ranger, right?

bst can make a contribution to exp parties. Remember my reference to bst being the new drg now? Bst can do the same thing drg can more or less. Respectable damage by themselves as a DD, up there near the top when you toss in pet damage. Difference is bst pets have their own seperate TP moves, as opposed to wyverns that have their thing they do with the drg's ws.

I was responding to the numerous posts saying this was completely different than the rng nerf, and that the rng nerf was basically just "now you have to stand 10 feet away, nothing else has changed." Your job got screwed over, your play style has to change as a result, and even after changing you're nowhere close to where you were before. Same as rng nerf, same as drg nerf. My posts were responses to other posts that had already derailed the thread, many of which by you. If you don't want rng nerf discussed here, don't talk about it here.

first off there already to many dd jobs we dont need anouther one. secoundly what drive people to bst is the ability to not have to look for a group.

As for rng not having any plus in exp party <roll eyes>
rng are by far the best pullers
rng have many ability to do extra dmg
rng have wide scan and scanvage
rng have so much dam ra acc gear
and much much more

the diffent between rng and bst nerf is like night and day

i can hq humus, fuck that ill go farming with you, and ill bring a axe. hate to miss sidewinder on a farming mob :|

I appreciate the offer, but the farming session just for pets (not eq mind you) just for pets, would be 10 times as long as the xp session. Forget farming for a second, it's too abstract. Look at raw numbers. To xp effectively , you are looking to spend 4-5k PER MOB, and that's pprobably a conservative estimate. What other job spends anywhere near that kind of money?

I can see how the soloing BST is getting hosed over, but I've been working in a duo for most of my BST career and we're sticking with it because we can more easily manage with some planning in advance. As for the idea of joining regular parties...No thanks. My other job is RDM - a job which basically burned me out on parties and other people for a while, from all the shit I had to eat because of people's bad RDM experiences, to never getting a minute of peace because the /tells start coming in ten seconds after you log on and a lot of people won't take no for an answer. BST lives in relative silence, aside from BCNM requests. And who's going to invite a BST anyway? Answer: Almost no one. BST will wait around longer than a DRG in his worst dry period.

Partying would also rob most BSTs of what draws them to the job in the first place - its lax schedule. A lot of BSTs I know leveled the job because they don't have to put in the sort of time parties require, which it times they might not have anymore. There's no seeking for hours and then forming up in Jeuno for another hour or two, then taking a half hour to get to a decent camp and praying some fucktard doesn't get aggro along the way because he's too fucking cheap to buy meds. You simply get up and go to wherever good prey is and get down to business, logging in and out as your RL time demands. It was the one job you could take to 75 alone. They've pretty much robbed the soloing BST of that accomplishment, and many customers the one job they could play.

/sigh. I love the fact that i was lvling BST on the side so i could have something other to do then BLM and as soon as I get close to 35 they completly trounce Release. Well, heres to hoping that S-E gets enough complaints and suggestions on how to fix the mess they made.

Honestly my hope in coming back to the game was that I would take Beastmaster up to the high end so that I could "gimp" it per se (not have to hear flack for not having +1 versions of items, etc). Then I could farm BCNM's and mobs easier and play Monk the way I really want too. I'm still going to try to solo and maybe duo with Beastmaster but we'll see how that plan goes after this update.

I did notice last night in Kazham that on my pulls I seemed to loose aggro on longer pulls really frequently and before I could turn around and hit them with another ranged attack they dissapeared.

Yeah, this will make long pulls for normal parties a thing of the past, along with pulling anything that might lose aggro when you run across a body of water. Enjoy the despawn.

Also enjoy the fact that BST is the easiest job to MPK now. Just kill all the pets. It happens often enough already anyway, and not by accident most of the time. It's still open season on us.

That is exactly what should have been done. But once again, SE proves they are too stupid to see the solution staring them in the face :|

Due to the update, all BST's have to talk to "Dawgie-Luvver" in Port Windurst. Get a Key Item, trade it to a monument in Ronfaure West. Spawn and fight a NM (Orcish Beastraper). It drops a Magical rope. Finally you take the magical rope to "Brokin Prophylactix" in Lower Jeuno so you can obtain this:

Poor BST's ; ;. I feel bad for them. This really sucks.

And, I don't have anything against you personally, Stigmatas.

However, it sucks to get knocked off your high horse/pedastol huh? :/

I'm glad I know real RNG's. Who can still pump out the DMG, and show people everyday the job is still very capable.:elf:

Whomever said BST is sub-par DD obviously hasn't done Dynamis with a BST party.

Most fun I've ever had in Dynamis, bar none. ^-^

Every Bst that was invited by me or a pt leader turned down the invite. I think "most" players don't seek bst as pt members because "most" bst don't want to party.

I honestly stopped reading on page 8 or so, but it seems like the easiest fix to this would just be to change the code so that aggroing mobs don't aggro outside their normal spawn areas, or whatever range SE has given to the whole mob despawn thing. I'm not a programmer so I don't know how hard that would be to right into the code, but it would make the most sense to me. I wonder why SE didn't just do this in the first place, as it would still prevent the MPK issue.

BSTs have my utmost sympathy for this oversight by SE.

Well people have started to post the convo logs with Customer Service Reps and the official response right now, is that no class was ever intended to be a solo class.

I did send this complaint to SE but seeing how everything is going as intended it will probably fall on deaf ears.

Basically I would just like to voice my displeasure in the effects implemented in the recent updates. While I am thrilled that there have been steps taken to minimize or eliminate MPK's I am less than thrilled with the fact that Beastmasters have been nerfed. My understanding is that Beastmasters only comprise ~1% of the player base so perhaps the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. I have been playing this game since the US PC release and Beastmasters have always been a solo class. To force your player base to move to group oriented exp'ing is wrong in my opinion.

Hopefully there can be a work around for the issue of pets disappearing after being "Released". I am unaware about how the system see's aggro. If there are flags such as "Aggro = 0 due to zone" "Aggro = 0 due to PC death" "Aggro = 0 due to job ability Leave" you could set different outcomes. If a pet is released then allow it ~2-3 minutes of non-aggro time in a general area before it despawns. Then again perhaps the system is unable to differentiate between the different situations that result in a creature becoming unclaimed.

Also could it be looked into as to why a claimed mob becomes unclaimed during a pet switch. In the past I have had a pet die mid-fight and when I charm another pet the mob that I fight turns yellow for a second. It would truly frustrating to have a mob I get to ~30% life to despawn due to that glitch and I loose all exp from the potential kill.

Thank you,

Your absolutely right, I don't look down on BST's that party, but to me it's riding coat tails. It's a solo job, plain and simple, intergrating it as a party DD is like removing an RDM's magic and giving it nothing but en- spells to DD with. We suck in parties, only a really horrible party wouldn't notice that we are a wasted space. SE has seriously hindered our solo/duo/trio ability, first with NPC's, second with the most retarded anti-mpk system possible.

I don't want to party for 8-12 hours at a time, I have a schedule wherin that is nearly impossible. BST is a job for very few in this game, especially in the NA community. It takes patience, anger management and alot of luck to play the job correctly. Now it seems all that SE left for us is frustration.
