Ok had an invite as soon as th patch was done and it blew, like 2k an hour blew. We where in Crawlers nest. The set up was

Shesoo 56 SMN
Theone 55 BLM
Lazypotato55 PLD
Teras 56 RNG
Sonicboom 56 SAM
Direwolf 56 WHM

Ok the Samurai and BLM had good gear, Samurai had snipers, Valkarie, and the Kote, the BLM had a bit of +1 Int gear, she bitched at me for checking, w/e.

So we are doing crabs and the exp just sucked, they where giving 120 exp and we could not even skillchain them well.

When they had no idea how to MB freeze (Wich did less then 300 DMG) I knew things where bad. After an hour the Samurai leaves and everyone walks away. So why did things blow ass so bad? I have done very well in the Tree without a RDM before (Getting like 5.5k an hour). I had no idea WTF the summonor (who had subbed RDM) was doing for the party, I dislike SMNs alot and do not want them in my PT, but that is neither hear nor there. The BLM could not get a good spell off for shit and had a terribale attitude (If you are good you can be a grouch, if ya cast Freeze on a crab for less then what my Holy can do...), the RNG kept on missing, and the skillchains where... all over the place. In teh BLMs defence he ahd no idea WTF the magic burst was gonna be cause I am not sure they had an idea of what Skillchain was going to result...

Ah well I got the 1k for me to hit 56 again and I jsut got an invite from a RDM so here goes nothing...
 
Pld without refresher will have problems 95% of the time. They just can't do their job and get exp chains without someone refreshing/ballading them. Second problem is having a smn and whm in the same party. IMO that's an overkill of healing ability and becomes something of a wasted party slot who becomes just a very weak DD. We argued over that for 11 pages so I won't get into that too much. Third problem is bursting freeze. Ancient magic is a waste of time and not worth the trouble. Also highly mp inefficient. Your party had some pretty nice DD though, Blm and Rng. :wink:
 
I like Ancient magic skillchained on chain 4 and 5, howeverf it doing less then my Holy? That scares me. And not once, never saw the sucker break 300 DMG.

My thoughts exactly on the SMN, as I said I am not a fan. I would far rather have a DRG then a SMN.

If I remember you and I partied w/ a few friends around lvl 50 in crawlers nest and we blew through mobs pretty fast with the BLM bursting freeze on each SC. Think the set up was... PLD, WHM, SAM, SAM, BLM, BLM which is why it might have worked lol (Think this is the pt where I joked about the 'Rones Healing Diet').

But whatever... in my 57ish-65 semi-static the BLM would usually burst the SC with ancient magic and it was really efficient for the most part.

Doesn't sound like a gear issue there. Sounds more like a skill issue.

LOL! I remember when Theone was a little lvl11 black mage n00b with no subjob. I gave him/her gil out of sympathy....then a couple months later I was on my way to Kazham....little do you know.....Theone is right next to me! She kept haggling me for money, so I shoved 1k in his/her face. Then I bumped into him/her AGAIN! This time I drew the line when he/she asked me for money.

I asked him/her "Do you remember who I am? I gave you money twice in the past" ..... he/she didn't even respond to me after that, Theone just went to go beg from other people.

On a side note....I understand that it is sometimes appropriate to donate money....but haggling people for money constantly without even recognizing that you have done so before is just plain rude.

(Ashkloud (THE BEST PERSON EVER!!!!!!1111one one one!) gave me 50k out of nowhere one day, because of her I am still playing ffxi today!)
 
I love when people ask you for money and their reactions when you say no. A recent convo...

They actually get indignant because I say no! Lol its funny really. What really confuses me is that people ask me for money because of my level and rank. Im level 50 rank 5. Nothing special. Lol its really funny and I rather enjoy saying no. Anyone who gives gil to people who ask for it should be stabbed with a sharp object! Stop helping em... Exceptions to friends of course

Ugh, I totally skimmed over this in my first post. Theres your biggest problem right there. Ignoring the fact that his gear is pretty gimp last I saw him he is an utter jerk combined with moron. He has a great talent at ruining any and all parties he joins.
 
Ummmm.... you ever had a SMN/RDM double bursting in your party??? You know bursting with Summon and magic at same time. It's amazing. Does insane damage. At least the ones I have seen. You have to remember also, SMN's can do a lot more than just heal. They can burst, Skillchain and do many other things. I was in a party once w/ 4 SMN's. It was great. I was NIN tank and I had a blast, we tore thru mobs.
 
Ugh, not that discussion again. We already argued that point for 11 pages. Smn aren't going to match other DD in DoT no matter what you dream.
 
I didn't say they would match anything.... I just said they have more to offer. Damage is just one thing. They can heal, do damage, enfeeb and buff with Summons and all that. Just stating that I like them. I have to tell you though, I really love seeing the double bursts though. The first time I saw it I was amazed. It's pretty cool and I don't think any other class can do that. i could be wrong, I am not the best in mage ways.
